Happy Friday!
It’s been a beautiful day here in Punta Cana!
We were shocked to wake up this morning and discover it was 9:45. We slept 10+ hours last night. We decided to get moving with a poolside yoga practice led by one of my friends who is also a yoga teacher. It was sweaty, sunny and a lovely way to start the day.
The food here is just okay (which we were 100% ready for going into the trip) but we have definitely made the best of it and discovered where the best options are for each meal. I’ll share all of that in my review. I feel like I’ve got a pretty good handle on “how to make the most of budget all-inclusives.” Lunch today was a big salad topped with grilled fish with a side of beet and plantain chips and dried figs and manchego.
Breakfast has been fruit, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt and things supplemented from the room like KIND bars and nuts.
We’ve eaten our weight in chips. They have all kinds of good homemade chips here from plantain chips to tortilla chips to beet chips. (Along with the Pringles we brought from home that have been a constant snacking option in our room.) You can never go wrong with chips. 🙂
And nights have been spent on our balcony chatting and drinking wine after dinner. Followed by books and early bed times. We’re wild and crazy! 🙂
Have an amazing weekend!
What is your favorite vacation snack food?
*Random side note, I made the Spotify playlist public. Sorry about the confusion. Follow me here and the playlist here.
That sunny palm tree photo is gorgeous! I can’t get enough of plantain chips lately. So delicious 🙂
yes! plantains are super yum!
That’s amazing that you slept that long…Your all obviously needed it! My weakness is tortilla chips and guacamole and salsa. I can never STOP…HAHA! And plantain chips…yes please!
i am always amazed by how much i can sleep on vacation too…and yes…i totally think i need it. when you work the hours we do as trainers, it can be a little draining. i always feel so much better when i get caught up on sleep.
Ooh chips and guac 😛 I could go for some, with a margarita on the side right about now
I love those rare nights of getting a crazy big amount of sleep! So refreshing.
The views there look incredible!
It looks so beautiful there! I would be sad about the food though – I love great food on vacation! Glad you are making the best of it. My good friend had the same experience in Punta Cana with the food choices.
i know, it was sad about the food but we went into it knowing this would be the case. we were focused on sun and girl time! it was nice to come back home to my kitchen!
yoga poolside sounds so amazing right about now! I am jealous 🙂
Hey Jen! Love the spotify playlist- could you make some of your other ones public? Thanks!
thanks! i haven’t made any other playlists on spotify yet but i will make them public once i do!
Oh my goodness, Jen! Enjoy – you deserve some r & r. (Can’t wait to hear more about it, too)!
…My favorite vacation snacks (let’s be real, my favorite snacks), are always nice cheese plates…think high-quality grass-fed cheese, organic salami & prosciutto, and fruit. Mmmm
girl, i always LOVE a good cheese plate too. YUM!
Oh the sun! It looks like you’re having an amazing time with your girlfriends! Keep enjoying!
Fave vacation snacks: chips and guac… For a road trip: kettle or caramel corn
I’m leaving for Punta Cana on Thursday. How do you recommend packing your own wine? Carry-on?
You can’t carry it on because of the liquid restrictions. You can pack it in your main checked bag but you can also buy it from the duty-free in the Punta Cana airport when you get there.
