I am really enjoying my new schedule although it has been a bit of an adjustment. Instead of knowing that I’m going to be working between the hours of 8:30 and 5, I now find myself busy and free at random times and on random days. Thursdays are slow, Sundays are busy. I try to keep Saturday as my complete off day and not take any clients or classes unless I’m subbing. I also have to be a little more disciplined with my free hours and try to get my own workout, house cleaning, errands and blog stuff done in that time so that I can actually “be present” at home when my day finally ends. It’s been a little challenging to find that balance to be honest.
Friday afternoon I had a yoga private at 4 and a personal training client at 5. I stayed after my last client to get some cardio in.
I had a lot of pent-up energy that needed to be released in the form of a treadmill speed workout. I ran mile 1 at 8:30, 2 at 8-8:15 and then worked all the way down to 7:15 during mile 3. An easy 5K that left my heart pumping and sweat dripping.
I finally headed home from the gym around 7 p.m. and got showered and ready for dinner with Brandon.
We were both feeling French and decided to head to George’s, which is one of our favorite Charlotte restaurants.
We started off with red wine and bread. Heaven. I had to restrain my bread eating since we were planning on ordering mussels and I wanted to save my bread for dipping. It was a serious exercise in willpower. ๐
We split a salad to start and it was so good. I “mmm’d” my way all the way through it. Mixed greens, apples, sugared walnuts, bacon and blue cheese with a sherry vinaigrette.
I ordered the white wine mussels as my entree and proceeded to amaze Brandon with my ability to put away mussels. I ate all of mine and some of his.
We also split an order of “frites” – moule et frites is one of my most favorite things to order at French-esque restaurants. Dinner at George’s was wonderful, as always.
And I leave you with a happy weekend and GO DAWGS!
Beat Auburn! ๐
I love mussels and french fries! I’m sure they were especially delicious after your sweaty treadmill workout. A good way to replenish some of the lost salt. I haven’t followed you in a while, but I’m back and just have to say you look great and inspired me to apply to teach some fitness classes at my local Y (that’s if of course they are hiring). Great idea! Have a wonderful weekend!
Go Auburn!!!! Just kidding. I know you all kicked out booties..but I go to AU so I had to cheer for them. ๐
Frites are the best kind of fries!! The entire dinner looks absolutely delicious, though. Yum!
Gosh that salad looks awesome – i need to try this place!
I am also mussel obsessed at the moment. I have some with green curry the other week that were incredible. Saving the bread is worth it!
Bet you’re happy with the Dawgs’ win yesterday!
Good luck with transitioning into the new schedule. You seem to be doing a great job!
