I am slowly getting back into the swing of things over here. Exercise has been minimal and eats have still been pretty off (for me) but work has been super busy for the past two days. Lots and lots of teaching, training clients and yoga privates. Love it. Busiest time of the year! ๐
A quick look at some recent meals.
Egg scramble with two eggs, spinach, mushrooms, goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes with apple slices and a maple oatmeal scone (so good) for lunch on Monday.
I had dinner at Cantina last night…which of course really means that I ate waaaaayyyyy too many chips with their addictive green tomatillo salsa. I also had a quesadilla with grilled shrimp, poblano peppers, avocado and jalenpeno bacon.
I didn’t photograph my breakfast today because it was consumed in the dark of the early morning at 5:30 but I had plain Greek yogurt with bananas, granola and sunflower butter.
I had classes, clients and work all morning so when I finally broke for lunch around noon before teaching my lunch class, I was shaky and kind of sick feeling because I let myself get so hungry. Luckily, this amazing sandwich saved the day. I stopped by Berrybrook for a sandwich and this new offering sounded like something I would love…cheddar cheese, apples, tempeh, spinach and honey mustard on whole wheat. My idea of heaven between two slices of bread. It was perfect.
And now I’m off to teach one last yoga class and then get my own practice in. It’s been days since I’ve practiced and I’m really needing some time on my mat with some serious sweating.
How do you fit in workouts when work gets busy and life gets in the way? I always try to make them a priority and pretty much “schedule” runs or yoga classes in my calendar. I also usually prefer to workout in the morning because I know it will be done if the day gets crazy. Also, I don’t beat myself up if I do have to take unplanned rest days. Sometimes they’re just what my body (and mind!) needs!
I always try to fit something in, but sometimes if I’m too busy one day I don’t stress over missing one day and just get back at it harder the next day. I know that hunger to almost nausea feeling, too…it is the worst!
Those look like the best eggs in the whole world! I try to work out first thing in the morning. But I will shift that if necessary. This week I have a lot of morning meetings, and it’s my turn to drive morning carpool, but if I work out at 6:30pm that means I won’t eat with the family, so I asked a friend about switching to evening yoga class Wed and Thurs so I won’t be lonely and I’ll be more apt to go even if I come home from work hungry.
i run in the AM because, like you said, the day will usually get crazy! it also helps set the tone for the day.
Yeah I agree with working out in the AM, it gets it out of the way, sets the tone for the day, and definitely helps with the busy schedule. Plus when I get home since I’ve been up since the crack of dawn I’m super tired and ready for bed! ๐
That scramble looks delicious!
totally agree with morning workouts helping with sleep! ๐
I normally work out at 5 AM to get it in!
Delicious sandwich! I’m a morning workout-er too…my performances dwindle as the day goes on, unless I’m doing doubles I try to get my workout over right after breakfast.
I hope your week is off to a great start!
XOXO!
I agree–working out in the morning makes it so much easier to get to!
I run at 5am. That way I can still have my evenings after work to get things done. I also try to run or work out as early as possible on the weekends. That usually means 8-9am. ๐
I’m a morning-workout person; otherwise I won’t get it done. ๐ Thankfully the weather has been great here in Boston to get out and run in the morning!
