Happy weekend lovely friends. I am writing to you from a hotel room in Hershey, PA where I am in bed watching HGTV and eating Boom Chicka Pop. I am here to lead a teacher training weekend at Studio B Power Yoga. I am so excited to meet the trainees tomorrow, and also some blog readers and Instagram friends who are coming for class and/or the training.
We don’t start until 9:15a so I’m excited for a good night’s sleep and a slow start to the morning. Today was not the most relaxing travel day. My MacBook decdided it didn’t want to turn on this morning. I tried every trick in the book to get it on and called Apple support. The verdict was a Genius Bar appointment. Not the best timing as I was leaving to travel and hoping to get a lot of work done this weekend on the computer during our downtime. Luckily, I was able to borrow an iPad with a keyboard for the weekend but it’s just not the same as a laptop and it’s always weird to work on a device that isn’t yours. You don’t realize how much you have it configured to your life and workstyle!
I was able to upload photos from my phone and I’m typing the post on the iPad so if things are a bit off…that is why! I wanted to keep it light tonight and just give you a snapshot of highlights and happenings from the week! 🙂
Zoey took a trip to the groomer this week. This girl is into EVERYTHING and was a bit of a hot mess.
I tried a new groomer closer to my house. She did such a great job with Zoey and the cost was totally reasonable! I also loved that she left her more natural and didn’t do a big cut.
While we are on the subject of Zoey…I made a peanut butter and banana sandwich, wheat thins and apples to eat in the car on the way to the airport today. I ran upstairs to grab my bags and when I came back down I wondered why it smelled like peanut butter. Well, that would be because Zoey was EATING MY SANDWICH! She stole the sandwich and the wheat thins off the counter and ripped through the bags to eat them. AHHH!
This angel was just lounging at the bottom of the stairs watching her sister and having no part in the sandwich stealing. Haha. I didn’t send her to the groomer when Zoey went and bathed her at home instead. She loved the one-on-one time with me. I gave her a peanut butter bone! 🙂
Oh and cutest story…I had Finn outside with me while I was bathing Sullie with the hose (it was an 80 degree February day!). He loved watching the bath and was cracking up and laughing at Sullie when she was shaking the water off after we finished. It was the best.
Speaking of little man…this is his signature pose! He has been doing this for a couple of months now and it’s so sweet!
I get asked about Finn’s sleep and sleep training ALL THE TIME. Maybe one day I’ll write about it but for now I feel like it’s not helpful because every baby is so different. The biggest piece of sleep advice I have is to follow your instincts and your child’s style/personality. For example, I feel like everything I read said to put a baby down awake so that they “learn how to sleep.” I found that rocking worked MUCH better for us and it’s transformed naps and nighttime sleep. It’s also become one of my favorite times of the day and the whole sleep routine feels so much less stressful for all parties.
And finally…this was one of the best things I saw on the internet this week! I feel like I’m practicing the saying no on a whole new level these days!
Have a wonderful weekend guys!
What’s the worst thing your dog has ever stolen from the counter?
Saying no…are you good at it, terrible at it, working on it?
I was on the way to visit family, stopped for a 4 minute bathroom break at a rest area, and came back to find my dog had eaten a ginormous chunk out of the homemade sourdough I’d timed perfectly to bake just before the trip! ??
The part of saying no that nobody ever tell you is to say no and *stop talking*. It is harder for people to get an “in” to wheedle you if you can get comfortable letting the silence hang after confidently and succinctly saying your piece. It really goes against the grain but has been such an asset in my professional life.
Have a great weekend training!!
Just wanted to say YES to this comment! I’m an executive coach, and I work with clients on saying no and building confidence, among other things. Stopping after you’ve made your point is one of the most important things we can do to convey credibility and confidence.
80 degree day in February—I’m so jealous! My dog has taken her own dog food off the counter. Not terrible, but she made a mess
Butter! I left a stick of butter out to soften and came home and it was gone! Now I leave it in the cabinet ?
The worst things our dogs have taken off the counter and eaten were 3 packets of prosciutto (how they got between the paper To get all the picesbout I will never know) and a huge homemade Dutch apple pie that Inhaf spent all day working on.
On the upside, their breath smelled like cinnamon for the next two days lol.
A $100 bill! My husband had played and won at poker the night before so there was a $100 bill and a handful of $1 – he didn’t touch the ones.
OMG!!!! This one wins! BAD DOG!
My dog has stolen a beef tenderloin and a refried bean burrito. He is quite the counter surfer!!
OMG to the tenderloin! Cooked or raw!?
