Whew, this has been a busy day and I’m gearing up for the rest of the week to be the same way. So much going on – but all good stuff!
I subbed a BodyPump class after work and then booked it over to Y2 to squeeze in a quick ashtanga practice. So grateful that they allowed me to roll into class 30 minutes late and still get through the full series. It was needed.
I made a quick (sweaty) stop in the grocery after yoga to pick up dinner supplies.
I pounded out chicken breasts and dredged them in flour, egg wash with Dijon mustard and bread crumbs with fresh herbs and parmesan. I sauteed the chicken with a little olive oil and then sliced and served it over a salad. I made honey mustard for my salad by whisking together plain nonfat Greek yogurt, Dijon mustard and honey. We didn’t sit down to eat until 9:45. ๐ณ I have GOT to get better about this.
After we finished dinner dishes Brandon announced he was making a brownie sundae. I said that I would pass but he was determined to bring me down with him. Admittedly, it was not hard to get me to cave.
Demolished.
Moving along to the good tunes portion of this post. Brandon and I really enjoy music and I am so lucky that he loves finding new bands and then burns their CDs and leaves them in my car. This works out perfectly for me because I just never have time to download new music.
The point of this…I am giving away three CDs that I’m digging right now. I just have to convince Brandon to burn them for me! ๐
- The Whigs –ย Mission Control. We discovered this band when we were in college at the University of Georgia in Athens (Go Dawgs!). I LOVE these guys and their new album is awesome. We’re SO excited to see them this Friday – they’re opening for Kings of Leon and Black Keys. They have come a long way from playing frat houses and dive bars! Can’t wait.
- Mumford & Sons – Sigh No More. This is my favorite recent find. I can’t stop listening to this British band’s latest album and I’m digging their hybrid bluegrass/folk/indie sound.
- Brendan James – Brendan James. I learned about this singer/songwriter in my yoga classes at Y2 so when I hear these songs I feel like I need to get my yoga groove on ;). Brendan just released a new album and it’s doing great on iTunes (his album was beating Kesha on the pop charts yesterday – we can all get behind that!). Check it out!
Leave a comment and let me know why you need some new tunes in your life. I’ll pick three winners at random and send you the CDs. These are three very different artists but I think you’ll enjoy them!
And go…you have until midnight on Thursday (9/9) to enter.
Oooh! I love finding new bands to listen to. All I ever listen to anymore is the radio and I’m getting so sick of listening to the same songs over and over.
just previewed these on itunes, and i love all of them! thanks for the suggestions ๐
I used to go to TONS of little shows and always be on the lookout for new bands, but that was when i lived in very music friendly places (near DC, NY, Philly)…I moved to FL a year ago, and have not found my “groove” yet – and would love some suggestions!
Loooove Mumford & Sons! It’s our go-to Pandora Station right now!
I haven’t updated my iPod since my wedding in ’08. I only listen to what’s on the radio; I don’t really discover new artists anywhere else. Love learning about new artists though!
I LOVE new music too! I try to peruse ITunes every once in a while or sometimes I find new music in movies I’m watching. I found this group called The Damnwells that way and love them. I’ll do a trade if you want to give me a CD of some of your tunes and I can make you one of mine ๐
I need some new music in my life to carry me through my long runs!! listening to the same songs on repeat is definitely getting old! new music makes me happy and so does running, so the two combined would mean double happiness!
i need some new music to inspire by workouts! i’ve been trying to download some new tunes recently but being a full-time grad student doesn’t leave me much time to discover new artists!
I’m terrible at finding new music too, and it would be awesome to get a mix of bands I’ve never heard of!
I’ve been listening to some favorite bands this summer and need some new music! I just youtubed the ones you mentioned and they all sound wonderful!
Reason #1: We have been listening to the same tunes on Graham’s ipod for a year. We probably have not downloaded any cool new music since Camille was born. The Floyds need some new inspiration. Camille and I have been listening to a lot of music during the day while we are cooking and doing chores.
Reason #2: Camille really gets down to great music and needs to add some new moves to her classics. This sounds like an awesome opportunity for her to develop her skills. Pictures promised.
Hope you randomly select us. We need a musical makeover!
Well, I am your cousin, so it really would not be fair to give me the CD’s. But I just want to say, I just love your blog, I think you are as cute as can be, I think you are crazy for eating at 9:45!, and I love that you just gave me some band suggestions!! THANK YOU!
I’d LOVE to hear Brendan James! Thank you for the giveaway!
Whoops I clicked it too early–ETA: I need some new studying tunes!
i was just telling my husband last night that i had a need for new music. it seems that since we’re so removed from our college years, we don’t hear of new bands like we used to. we downloaded the new david gray last night, and it’s awesome!
love mumford and sons. we call our son “little lion man.” we’ll let our kids listen to that song for a while longer…if they start singing along, we’ll be in trouble ๐
I could use some new music for the long nights in the library studying and I heart all three of those! And I really heart that salad so thanks for the quick dinner idea!
i need new music b/c i’m old and still listening to the dead and widespread and we’re too oldskool to go somewhere and download anything else. PLEASE give me some new music. ;0)
oh, and we rarely eat before 9:00 either, so don’t feel too bad. it’s the price we pay for evening workouts!
I NEED these new tunes! You have inspired me to start running. I am running my first 5K (I know, tiny – but you gotta start somewhere) next Thursday and would love to have some new tunes to jam out to!
Oh fun, love new music! I need new music since I’m refraining from purchasing any due to building a house! Every penny counts!
9:45pm holy moly girlfriend – hope you can try to fit in eating earlier ๐ Maybe with winter, you can rely more on your slow cooker? ๐
This is my work commute for the next few weeks….Atlanta> Aiken, SC> Atlanta> North Augusta> Atlanta> Greenville, SC> Greenwood, SC> Atlanta> Greenville> Atlanta. Would LOVE some new tunes to help with all the driving!
p.s- I love how Brandon leaves CD’s in your car. So cute!
I rely on music to get me through my runs. It’s so fun to shake it up and listen to something brand new ๐
a giveaway! how fun! new music is always fun to get me motivated to get up and move. & i’ll admit, we love dancing to music with cayden right now. he’s REALLY into music at the moment ๐
Love the give-away! Definitely needing some new tunes for my iPod and car too!
