Good morning! Here’s what I’m working with over here…
A grumpy golden retriever! Wednesday morning is my “sleep in morning” in that it’s the only day of the week that I start at 6:30 a.m. instead of 5:30 a.m. but apparently Sullie didn’t think 6 a.m. was any kinder of an hour than 5 a.m. When I turned the light on she curled into this little ball and would NOT get up. I called her five times to go outside and she wasn’t budging. Generally, she doesn’t like to get up before it’s light out. Ha! It’s a tough life she leads. 😉
Speaking of being up early…did you see the blood moon lunar eclipse this morning? I got to view it on my way to teach yoga and it was breathtaking. The photo above is from the Associate Press from Casper, Wyoming but it was equally as stunning here in Charlotte.
My fellow yoga teacher Blake writes this great website called Leo Moon Rising where she posts “current sky” updates regularly and what she wrote last night especially resonated with me…
“Absorb the energy this Full Moon is bringing to you, along with what this eclipse will bring – an honest look at the dark and the light in your life, your choices, and your goals.”
I recommend reading her full post. It’s good stuff. (And yes…I like astrology! :))
Rewinding to last night…I was lucky to spend the evening with these lovely ladies. (Katie, Jen, Ksenyia, Julie, Brittany) I organized a small group of girls to visit Carolina Facial Plastics where Dr. Kulbersh gave a very interesting and informative presentation on aging and skin care. I have been working with Dr. Kulbersh for 10 months and what I love most about him is his focus on enhancing your natural beauty. It’s refreshing! The number one takeaway from the evening was invest in a good quality sunscreen and wear it every single day! It’s the best thing you can do for anti-aging efforts and for protecting your skin. Read Brittany’s post for more Q & A.
Another thing I loved about the evening? The food. I was excited to see that the event was catered by Passion Food Catering. My favorite local catering company! On this plate we have pumpkin hummus and tabbouli tartlets with kalamata olive, brie and apple skewers with butter rum drizzle, asparagus, walnut and stilton crepe roulades, roast beef and arugula croissant bites and shrimp and snow pea skewers with a sweet and sour sauce.
And after trying one of the espresso brownies topped with cookie butter I picked up the tray and insisted everyone else do too. They were amazing!
I’ll be back later today with the apple cinnamon oatmeal recipe. Have an amazing day!
Are you into astrology? I confess to reading my yearly, monthly and weekly horoscopes on the regular.
Anyone else have a grumpy pup in the AM?
I am a Pisces and go through phases of checking my astrology…I do believe in it and I am so TRUE to my sign. It is all very interesting to read and learn about. I agree with Sullie…These dark mornings are NOT fun and easiest way to wake up. Happy Hump Day!
Your golden totally reminds me of mine, Her name is Brook and I have to talk to her as I’m getting ready in the morning, so that she’s awake enough to go outside before I head to work. Silly Goldens, they’re the best!
aren’t goldens the best!? how old is your pup?
loved meeting you last night, jen! thanks again for thinking to include me. 🙂 hope we can get together soon!!
Ha, I am all about astrology and horoscopes and these phases of the moon and planets. My friends and I have been living by this Mercury in retrograde thing (and now combined with the full moon lunar eclipse!) and while we laugh at what they claim happens during all of this planetary activity, some of it seems to hold some truth. Do I sound insane? Yeah, I know but maybe there is something to all of it lol.
I love Sullie’s personality – it’s just too sweet. Also, I love that you advocated for the brownies.
What a fun night! That dessert table looks incredible. I actually was just reading your skincare post this morning because I’m really looking into a new skincare ritual. I’ve been lucky enough to never have acne or bad breakouts, but I do want a smoother, clear tone and want to invest in some good products!
I don’t have a pup yet, but I would like to adopt a golden retriever or lab once we move into a bigger place. I saw the eclipse this morning too as I was leaving the gym. Such a beautiful sight to see. What does your everyday skincare routine consist of? I am trying to improve mine and remove some acne blemishes and I would love to hear what you have been doing for the past 10 months.
I LOVE that some of my favorite bloggers all got together 🙂 So fun!
omg. . . . espresso brownie topped with cookei butter. stop, just stop. droooooool.
