I love creating holiday-themed workouts and I thought Halloween was the perfect time for TWO Halloween-themed workouts…an indoor treadmill workout and a do anywhere bodyweight workout. You never know when that Halloween candy will have thinking, “I need to stop, drop and sweat!” (Maybe never? That’s okay too!) Also, the days are getting shorter and cooler so I know that many of us jump on the treadmill more often this time of year.
Spooky 2s Sprint + Climb Treadmill Workout
I get so bored running a flat road on the treadmill so I turn to intervals of climbs and sprints to make these interesting. All I gotta say is…good luck with this one! I think you’ll feel a bit like a zombie at the end of it. I’ve got increasing inclines interspersed with moderate runs and sprints for 32 minutes of treadmill terror…I mean fun. I’m not prescribing speeds because I think that it’s so different for everyone. Rather, I want you to try to work within the target intensity I’ve described. For some, a moderate run might be a 6.0 where for others that’s a sprint…and that’s totally okay! Make this workout work for you!
*Note: if the last jog at 10% feels like too much, make it a walk. You’ll still get a great burn from the heavy incline walk.
**Another note: I like to increase the speed on my sprints each round so that my last sprint is my fastest but that’s totally up to you!
Boo Bodyweight Workout
This Boo Bodyweight Workout features 31 reps of 10 different exercises that include upper body, lower body, plyometrics and core work. You’ll get a good amount of cardio in here along with your strength. You can repeat this workout one time through or go for two rounds if you’re feeling extra ambitious! You’ve seen most of these exercises in past workouts but let me know if you have questions about any of them or about modifications. I’m always happy to help!
Happy sweating!
What is your favorite Halloween candy?
How do you stay entertained on the treadmill?
Love a good themed workout. I actually did your cinco de cardio circuit this morning…wrong holiday, fab/tough workout!
What fun workouts! Pinning to my workout board for you. I’ve tried these dry sprays and they are great!
Favorite Halloween candy? Hmm. I do love Sixlets (even though it is an “old school” candy) and Reese’s!
To keep myself entertained on the treadmill, I often do hill walking intervals.
I did the body weight workout last night (2x through) and I am FEELIN’ IT! Thanks for sharing, Jen!
I try to stay away from treadmill runs, but if I have to, I always put on a youtube video to pass the time.
Hey Jen!! I did the spooooooooky bodyweight workout this AM after a quick treadmill run! I opted for 3 sets of 10 reps because it always helps me push through & makes the workout seem shorter. I picked up a 15lb kettlebell, too, and held it at chest for the air squats and lunges (I went static) and used it for twisting on the Russians. I prefer tricep dips using a bench, but I realize now you could use the bell for overhead tricep extensions if that is your style! LOVED the progression of exercises and hitting different muscle groups. Keep posting workouts like this! I LOVE them and they are so accessible. Thanks!!!
Oh, girl. I did the Spooky 2’s on the treadmill this morning and only got 3/4 of the way through before walking the rest of the time. I was dead! Looking forward to completing it in the future!
Recently I’ve started listening to podcasts to pass the time during treadmill workouts. I like to think of it as a time to exercise the mind AND body – win/win ๐
Looking forward to trying out the body weight routine next time I can’t make it to the gym! Pinned for the future. Thanks for sharing, Jen. ๐
