Happy, happy, happy Friday! Although I can’t believe it’s already Friday! When I travel on the weekends and then jump back into a busy week, time seems to fly. I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend in Charlotte so that I can catch up and get organized. Two things that I pretty much feel like I spend my life trying to do. One day I’ll become more organized and efficient…hopefully. 🙂
I’m so glad that you enjoyed (well, kind of enjoyed…I guess that debatable if you actually did it!) the workout that I posted yesterday. I promise to post more fitness and workout related posts. It’s so easy to shoot a quick video now that I spend so much time in the gym working. I have to admit that I haven’t done the workout that I posted yet but I did get my booty kicked in BodyPump last night. I taught BodyPump 81 for the first time and although I don’t think it tops 80, it is a solid release. I found biceps and shoulders to be especially challenging.
I took a hot vinyasa class this morning before work and I’m going to end my day with the Friday evening CrossFit class. Everyone who has done the WOD so far today has been a sweaty mess at the end. I can’t wait! If you want to follow our WODs, our CrossFit director posts them on our blog every day!
The workouts have been tough and the eating has been really good…just how I like it.
I have had zero time to make it to the grocery store this week so meals have been assembled using whatever is available in the fridge/freezer/pantry. Yesterday’s lunch was creative but delicious. Two scrambled eggs, broccoli, spinach, black beans, goat cheddar and lots of salsa.
I finally made a quick grocery store stop after BodyPump last night. I was in the mood for a salad and had no lettuce and had been out of avocado all week. Major withdrawal! I made a really tasty salad with arugula mix, roma tomatoes, goat cheese, carrots, toasted pecans, dried cranberries, avocado and a turkey burger. I made a homemade dressing by whisking together lemon juice, dijon mustard, olive oil and honey.
Post-yoga breakfast this morning was banana and peach oatmeal. Unfortunately, I literally ate this in about 4 minutes flat when I arrived at work before teaching a yoga class. Friday mornings are rushed trying to get my own practice in before I have to teach.
I ran home around noon to pick this one up. I like to bring her into the office with me on Friday afternoons when things are quiet. She loves to hang out in my office and look out the windows.
I had lunch at Mellow Mushroom today. It’s located on the floor directly under the gym but this was my first time eating there since I started. Crazy because I love pizza and it always smells so good! It was a beautiful day to sit on the patio. Started by splitting a Lil’ Greek Salad.
And then a Philosopher’s Pie but we subbed tomato sauce for the olive oil/garlic base and chicken for the steak. Other toppings included artichoke hearts, feta, olives, mushrooms and provolone cheese. So very good but I’m glad I have several hours to digest it before CrossFit tonight!
Have a great weekend! Have anything fun planned? Anyone running a race?
I hear you on the grocery front…I was very thankful I had some leftovers stashed in my freezer! I finally made it to the store today, though.
We did 81 biceps last night for the first time as a class, and it was tough. However, I liked it much more than 79 biceps, which is what we have been doing. And I’m with you on groceries – it’s a throw together meal tonight.
And this weekend? Body Pump instructor training!
We are going to be running a marathon here in Cincinnati (Flying Pig, the 8th year) before we depart to relocate into CLT. You still have not responded my comment from 1.5 weeks ago if you would like me to send some great avocados to your work or house.
REgards,
Henry (the guy who wrote you on “Such Girl” post this month)
hi henry – i’m emailing you! thanks!
No sweat, I just wanted to keep eating healty!
Running my first marathon on Sunday!
ahhhh!!!! good luck! can’t wait to hear how it goes!
Thanks Jen! For now I am terrified 😉
Love the cute pictures of Sullie 🙂 nothing exciting planned for the weekend, just relaxing.
My goal to run a new 10k PR this weekend!
Also, I haven’t done the work out you posted yesterday, but I plan on trying it this coming week. It looks challenging! I would love more work out posts like that. 🙂
I’m running the Girls on the Run 5k tomorrow morning! This was my first season as a GOTR coach and I can’t wait to cheer all my little girls on in their first race. Then, my fiance and I are headed to Tallulah Gorge for some hiking and testing out our new fancy camera.
The weather in Georgia is supposed to be beautiful!
Love the baby gate to keep your dog in your office! Looking forward to trying out yesterday’s posted workout. Love that you have added more workouts to the blog. The video is perfect too. Nice to know I’ll be doing the moves correctly at home. Have a wonderful weekend!
Mellow Mushroom is one of my favorite restaurants and I’m not ashamed to admit that at all. I love that they offer tempeh!
I’m just going to enjoy the weekend with my main squeeze before life gets busy. Lots of relaxing, going to the farmers market and enjoying the sunshine.
Running a 5K tomorrow. My husband and 9-year-old daughter are also running the 5K, and my 3 year old will run the kids’ race. It’s an ’80s themed race, so I got some wild shorts to wear, but that will be the extent of my costume. My 9 year old, on the other hand, is going all out!
Thanks Jen for all the great tips! You are SO inspiring. Got to see Brandon in your suggestion links and realized it’s been a LONG time since we’ve seen him. He must be just as busy as you with your crazy schedule. Printed out the RAINY day home workout and will start today as soon as I get off of work. I want to be sweaty like you. Cheers 🙂
Good food, indeed! You had all of my favorite foods in one day! I love eggs, veggie burgers on salads, and especially Mellow Mushroom Pizza! Yum!
Feeling you on the grocery issue. I’ve had no time to run out, and then my the engine light showed up in my car so I am too afraid to drive it haha. You still managed to have some delicious food though 🙂
gah, my engine light has been on forever. i must get my oil changed. procrastination!!!
your salad dressing sounds like the one I always make! 😀 i love dijon on salad
