Hi everyone! I hope you had great day. I have a post that will hopefully bring a little sunshine to your week.
First, a quick housekeeping update. Many of you have requested an email option for receiving daily posts. It’s a functionality I used to offer but haven’t in years…until now! I have been working with my friend and tech guru (I would be lost without his guidance) on setting up daily posts through emails and after a couple of weeks of testing…all things are going smoothly!
So if you’ve ever signed up for my email list using the box in the right sidebar of my site that would be the reason you’ve been receiving posts via email for the last week. If you’d like to receive posts via email, use the signup form below and you’ll be added to the list! It sends the newest post out every day at 7 a.m.
NOTE: If you sign up and aren’t seeing the emails, please check your spam filter! Also, Gmail users be sure to check your “Promotions” folder.
And now for a little bit of feel good…
On Saturday night we were scrolling through Netflix looking for a something to watch and on a whim decided on the newest Cinderella remake that Disney released in March of this year.
Since it was late we thought we would just start the movie and finish it later but got totally sucked in and stayed up until 12:30 a.m. and watched the entire thing. IT WAS SO GOOD!
The underlying message of the whole movie was “Have courage and be kind.” (And also to believe in a little magic.) This simple but powerful message is so wonderful and it warmed my heart to know that so many young girls heard it
All week in my yoga classes I have been sharing how much I loved the movie and its message. We’ve been talking about the importance of having courage and being kind from the inside out.
Having courage to DREAM BIG and believe in what’s possible for you.
Having courage to believe you’re WORTHY of those big things and your deepest desires.
Having courage to keep pursuing your dreams when others don’t believe.
Having courage to keep your heart open even when it’s been hurt and broken.
Being kind to your body and treating it well.
Being kind in your thoughts and how you talk to yourself.
Being kind to your heart and soul and practicing self-care and nurturing yourself.
When courage and kindness are deeply rooted inside of you they will appear on the outside and show up in your daily interactions with the world around you without you even having to try. And when you follow the path of courage and kindness, magic WILL happen in your life. You know that feeling when everything just seems to work out and go right? It means you’re in sync with yourself and the universe.
If you haven’t seen the new Cinderella, make it a priority. And try on the “have courage and be kind” mantra this week. It seems so simple but actually putting it into practice feels pretty amazing.
Have you seen the new Cinderella? What did you think?
How do you practice courage and kindness?
I am a sucker for any and all Cinderella adaptations – cannot wait to watch this one on the weekend! It will be a perfect break from an otherwise constant flow of studying. And beautiful, beautiful words. “Having courage to believe you’re WORTHY of those big things and your deepest desires.” –> that one especially hit home.
Yes! It’s like the Marianne Williamson quote about asking ourselves who are we to be brilliant and talented when really who are we not to be those things!
My daughter (9 at the time) and I saw it in the theater and still reference it all of the time. She wants Cinderella’s grace and patience as she put it. Love.
I love that!
You watched it via streaming Netflix? I can’t find it! Beautiful message though.
Most people would think, “Cinderella? Ugh, what a cliche!” I, however, loved the movie–it was beautiful!–and really try to live by this quote. Having courage in times of doubt, hardship and sadness is definitely hard, but it’s really life-changing and so much healthier for you. Being kind to others even when you’re heartbroken, hurt or angry is the same.
I don’t normally read blogs at night, but I’m so glad I saw this. I, too, am a big cinderella fan. Loved the animated version as a kid, loved Ever After as a teen, and I will have to see this one very soon. I really needed to hear this message at this exact moment. Thank you for posting this. There’s a little bit of magic right there!
You’re welcome! So glad it hit home. I think we all need to hear this every so often.
Ah, I love these messages. I need to check out the movie. It’s funny how something like that which you think would be corny, turns out to be actually pretty meaningful.
I know! I wasn’t expecting to get so sucked in!
Needed to read this today! Have been struggling with pursuing things I’d like to because of fear. So this was perfect. Now, I have to see that movie. I’ve been wanting to, just haven’t gotten around to it. I will make it a priority this weekend 🙂
Do it! I think nearly everyone struggles with that at some point or another. It’s good to be reminded of this!
Such a simple concept, but it is easy to forget. If everyone was even a little kinder, can imagine how much greater this world could be 🙂 Going to watch Cinderella this weekend 🙂
Havent seen the movie but recently saw the musical which was really good. thanks for this message. i needed to hear it today for so many reasons. i need to be more kind to myself and have courage to stand up for myself and but up boundaries and not just except all invitations and do what is “right” or “expected” im going to try to think of this for the rest of the week. thanks.
I am always so excited to see a movie or tv show or magazine article that inspires young women or girls… If only it was more than the material that down grades them! I haven’t seen this movie but I’ll have to check it out tonight thanks for the suggestion
