Monday was spent in what we’ll call “recovery mode” from Christmas. It started with laying in bed until 9:15 followed by a long and sweaty workout at the gym.
I ran 4 miles on the treadmill. The first mile was a warm up. For miles two and three, I alternated between inclines and speed every .25 miles. The fourth mile was a pretty fast flat. I think the final stats were four miles in around 35 minutes.
After my run, I hit the weights and did a mixture of cable and free weight exercise along with my least favorite thing ever…pull ups. They are so hard and pretty much make me want to cry. I had to do them with an assist.
Then I came home and ate vegetables. My body said, “thank you.” Spinach with a veggie burger, carrots, apples, feta, almonds, dried cranberries and balsamic vinaigrette.
I spent the afternoon camped out at Starbucks working on my Christmas recap post and catching up on email. I don’t think I can ever get “caught up” on email. It’s always been a weakness of mine. (Maybe something to add to the 2012 goals!?)
I let Brandon talk me into going to the mall despite the day after Christmas madness. I’ll be honest, the only thing that got me there was knowing that a ton of stuff was marked down at Lululemon. ๐
I got the Quick Step pants. I have been on the fence about them for months but the mark down was just the motivation that I needed to finally pick them up.
We stayed at the mall until after 8. I was tired, hungry and cranky when we left and demanded food ASAP.
We stopped for sushi on the way home. I started with a bowl of miso soup.
And then proceeded to plow my way through half of this.
I have serious love for sushi. So good.
Christmas recovery continued when I came home and immediately got in bed. Lights out before 10 p.m.
Did you get a good post-holiday workout in? Or brave the mall and pick up anything special?ย
I’m pretty sure we had the same day! Went to the gym to get my speedwork session in on the treadmill (400 repeats), came home and ate veggies, headed to SouthPark for some madness then came home and crashed! Twas glorious! ๐
haha, that’s awesome. we did pretty much have the same day! great job on your speed session! ๐
Good for you on the run and eating veggies. I went to the gym yesterday but only manged to walk for about 2 miles. I was seriously still full!
I am hoping to ease back into my workouts throughout this week and practice some more yoga!
I missed a Lulu sale?!? NOOO!!
I wish I had a Lulu near me!! That would be so awesome! I hope you found some good stuff on sale! I am a sushi lover too and the rolls in your pics look absolutely delish!!! I may have to talk the husband into a sushi date real soon!! ๐
i think they have some stuff marked down online too. you may want to check it out. you should definitely convince your husband to take you on a sushi date! ๐
I should have went to the mall for the lululemon sale!! Is it still going on?
I got some great workouts and veggies in me as well!
i’m sure that they’ll have the stuff marked down until they’re sold. you should check it out!
What kind of veggie burger do you like? The one on your salad looks way better than the ones I have tried!
i like the trader joe’s brand. also like amy’s organics. do NOT like bocca or morningstar.
Thanks – I will have to try the TJ ones! I like the Amys ones, too. Enjoy your time off and Happy New Year! ๐
I’m in recovery mode too! Can’t wait to get back to normal ๐
ohh yummy sushiiii! I love ur holiday header BTW.
thank you!!! ๐
i just got back from the mall now! phew, i’m exhausted!
i’ve been keeping up my runs throughout the holidays (i start marathon training next week!). thank god for running, because i ate every cookie in sight!
laughed out loud when i read this. i’m in the same boat with the cookies! ๐
so excited that your training starts next week!!! ๐
I’ve been craving sushi for ages – I think we’ve decided it’ll be our New Year’s Eve meal!
I had a kick-butt workout yesterday too – I think all the extra Christmas goodies fueled it!
i think that it’s a perfect NYE dinner!
congrats on the tough workout!
Braved the mall on Christmas Eve and Monday. We don’t have the same awesome stores they do up in Marietta (North Georgia) and we spent crazy amounts of cash on clothes. Today I braved the Savannah mall and walked out with a Coach purse. I did finally purchase some things off Lululemon’s site! I’m so excited!
we braved it on christmas eve and the day after christmas as well. the sales were pretty awesome. congrats on your new coach purse…i am jealous! hope you love your lulu!
Monday workout included: 40 min on the treadmill of running, walking, hills, and sprints + 30 min leg workout at home. Clean eating all day and still continuing…although my sweet tooth is barking. Need to be good at least until the weekend. HA!
i hear you! i need to tame the sweet tooth big time! great job on your monday workout!
Definitely kept on track w/ workouts. Yesterday our gym was closed so my husband and I did a workout w/ a deck of cards:
Hearts = chest to floor burpees; Spades = diamond push ups; Diamonds = squat, squat jump; Clubs = v- ups (ABS); Jokers = 2 minute run
52 card deck plus 2 jokers gives you a 54 card total. Aces are equal to 11 reps. Face cards are equal to 10 reps. All other cards are equal to the number value on the card. It was NOT fun to end w/ 3 face cards for burpees — 30 in a row? We were beat!
i love this workout! it sounds totally tough but awesome!!! i kinda want to do it!
Monday was still family getting together for Christmas for me, but had a great recovery day today. My kids are staying with Grandparents for a few days, and so I slept in, took down the Christmas decor, and straightened up the house. My husband and I then went to gym and I got in a treadmill run. We then went out for dinner, and visited Dick’s Sporting goods for returns and exchanges. I also finally visited the Lululemon store and picked up a tote at 1/2 price! I saw a poster of you there too!! It was a great day, but back to work tomorrow!
The sushi you had looks great!
so nice that you were able to enjoy your “recovery day” with your husband and get so much done! glad to hear you finally visited lulu. i love the totes! i carry mine every day!
hope the short work week is kind to you!
I had some MUCH needed sushi Monday night. It really hit the spot.
yummm!!!! ๐
Jen,
If you have a moment, will you help me decide if I should buy the Quick Step pants off the Lulu site? I have never bought their bottoms before, and from what I can tell, I would be a size 8. I’m a devoted Nike shorts wearer, and I buy mediums in my Nike shorts. I can wear the smalls, but I like my shorts a bit loose. My only hesitation with the Lulu pants is not being able to return them! Do you have any input? HELP!
Happy Saturday,
Becca ๐
hey girl – i love the quick step pants but more for lounging and pre/post workout than for actually working out. they’re super comfortable for just wearing around. i usually wear a 4 in lulu (sometimes a 6). the quick step are meant to fit a little loose. i would recommend going up a size from whatever your normal pants size is. i know it’s hard that they’re final sale and you can’t return. boo!
Ok my normal pants size is a 4 or a 6, so I think I’ll stick with the 8’s because when I measured myself, the Lulu chart said I was an 8. Fingers crossed! Thanks for your input. ๐
