I hope it’s been a nice weekend for you guys! It’s been a hot one for us. On Friday evening I noticed that my HVAC unit outside all the sudden sounded like a rattling freight train so I had a technician come and look at it on Saturday. He found a badly cracked fan blade. The good news is that it’s a relatively easy fix. The bad news is that he can’t order the part until the warehouse opens on Monday and told me that I couldn’t run the HVAC until it is repaired. Feeling very grateful right now that the new house has ceiling fans in all the bedrooms. I slept with the fan on high and all of my windows open and it actually wasn’t too hot at all.
In other exciting house news, I am excited to report that there are ZERO boxes left to be unpacked inside the house. I tackled the office yesterday which was the designated room to throw all the boxes and crap into that I had no idea what to do with. YAY! I think I will try using one of the online design services for a few of my rooms. Thank y’all for that suggestion in my last post. On that note, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your comments on my Currently post. I really enjoyed reading them! 🙂
Today’s post will just be a lighthearted and random mix of food, Finn and the dogs so let’s dive in!

FINN
Well, Finn has been teething his two year molars for weeks now and they seem to have reached a peak in pain level just in these last few days. He’s been out of sorts with his hands constantly in his mouth, drooling, waking up multiple times at night and fussy/grumpier than normal.
On top of teething, we’ve been navigating the crib to toddler bed transition so parenting has skewed more towards the challenging side lately. I do have to give Finn a lot of sympathy/recognition because he’s had a lot of transition going on with my move, the new nanny starting and some big events at his dad’s house. We had a child psychologist remind us at one point that even positive changes require transitions for children and that’s been really helpful to keep in mind.
On a sweeter note, Finn loves Mr. Potato Head and on this day he was taking ‘Tato with him to ride in the car. I asked him where he was going and he said to see Mema, P-Paw and Meme in Florida. (Seriously, that’s what he told me…haha.) And then I heard him telling Mr. Potato Head that he was a “sweet boy.” No shortage of smiles and laughs over here!
Over the weekend a friend passed down a Pottery Barn children’s table and chairs set. Let me tell you, Finn thinks he’s a big shot sitting at his own table that’s just his size. He also loves drinking seltzer water out of open cups. He tells me he wants “sparkly water.” He also loves to pretend any and all beverages are coffee and will walk around pretending like he’s drinking coffee. 🙂
Finally, I took him to Auto Bell this morning to get my car washed and I’m 99% sure that watching the cars come through the wash was the highlight of his week. He kept saying, “oooohhhhh pretty.” He cried when we left. Oh toddlers.
PUPS
Zoey and Benji spent Friday at The Dog Salon and came home looking fresh and clean!
I love Benji’s tongue in this one. This dog cracks me up and even though I know it’s 100% normal, I still can’t believe how different the personalities have been of the three dogs that I’ve owned in my adult life. I was SO happy that he came home from the groomer with his fluffy coat and without a poodle cut. His groomer and I agreed that we are going to keep him around this length.
Alright y’all. I am off to enjoy the rest of my Sunday with Finn before a new week begins. I’m planning to spend some time playing outside and we’re going to pick up a balance bike from a former client of mine who is passing it down to us. I love all of the sharing and passing that comes with kids. It’s fun to give and receive!
QUESTIONS
What did you do this weekend?
What are some simple things that entertain your toddler and make you laugh/smile?
What is something that you “splurge” on at the grocery?
Good post! The balance bike will be a great addition. It will definitely help Finn prepare to ride a bike. I’ve been splurging on different butters, bread from the farmer’s market, and my favorite bars, Go Macro bars. Have a great week!!
It doesn’t get much more delicious than the simplicity of really good quality bread and butter! Sounds perfect!
I enjoy your updates on Finn. My baby is young but she’ll be a toddler soon enough.
My life goal is to shop at Whole Foods regularly. I love that place. I shop at Kroger and this weekend splurged on all the fruit; apples, grapes, blueberries, and blackberries. Oh, and bought some watermelon seed butter to experiment with.
I like Whole Foods a lot too. It’s an enjoyable environment (more so pre-COVID) and I like looking at what they have. I balance it out by doing a lot of my shopping at ALDI as well, and other stores. I also love splurging on all the fruit…especially this time of year!
Hi Jen! I noticed you bought whole bean coffee… do you have a coffee maker that you love that grinds the beans? Thinking of investing in something like this, but there are so many out there!
Yes, I have the Cuisinart Grind and Brew Thermal Coffee Maker: https://www.cuisinart.com/shopping/appliances/coffee_makers/dgb-650bc/. I love it!
these kind of posts are the best! thanks for sharing.?
I’m so glad to hear that you enjoy reading them! 🙂 Have a good week!
I love your blog just the way it is! Great job navigating the move. I always appreciate how genuine you come across on your blog.
Thank you so much Haley! <3
I am not sure if I congratulated you on your beautiful new home!!! I own an old home and repairs are such a thing!! I am glad you have AC:)
I hope you keep blogging and that in return, it sustains you. If it doesn’t you shouldn’t do it – but I love this blog and it gives me such a sense of connection. Thank you!
I DEFINITELY splurge on coffee. And berries. Also – chocolate!
Thank you Pamela! I love it…especially in the comfort of AC!
I really like what you shared about blogging sustaining me too. A good nugget to think about.
Does it get any better than coffee, berries and chocolate!?
