Hello. Today was operation “put on your big girl panties, stop procrastinating and get it done.” I tackled everything from finances to bills to taxes to thank you notes. Some of the things had been waking me up at night and looming over my head…it was time to do something about them!
And why is it that it’s never half as bad as you expect it to be? While I may or may not have shed a tear or two as I was reading my credit card number to pay off a medical bill, I wish I’d gotten this stuff off my plate sooner! I feel so much lighter and it wasn’t as painful as I thought, just tedious.
While I don’t feel super passionate about managing household expenses, I do feel passionate about the grocery shopping! ๐ Here is a peek into my (very full) shopping cart at Trader Joe’s this week.
Let’s start with the produce.
– Aurgula
– Cruciferous Crunch (must try this stuff…it’s good raw and cooked!)
– Baby portobellos

The big bag of carrots and baby kale were purchased with hopes to start juicing again this week.

Pantry items…

– Farro
– Peanut butter
Pretty things…
– Basil plant

– Flowers
Grand total for all items pictured was $115.
Are you a procrastinator or a tackle it immediately kind of person?
Any new Trader Joe’s finds to share? I sampled some bacon flavored white cheddar popcorn in the store that was kind of ridiculous(ly good!)
How do you cook your farro? & what do you pair it with for meals?
I can totally relate to the procrastination. I swear 99% of the time perception is so much worse than the reality of things. I always get myself worked up and stressed about things that would take thirty minutes to accomplish if I would just focus and do it! Not sure how to break that habit ๐
So true! I just need to set myself a deadline.
Jen, you should definitely visit Switzerland once if you haven’t done so yet! We have a huge variety of cheese (local and from our neighbours like France and Italy), you would love it ๐
That sounds amazing! Maybe one day!
We buy a lot of the same stuff at TJ ๐ I feel like I am always there! I hate tackling the to-do list but it feels so good when I do all of the little things I have waiting for me to accomplish.
I agree! I love being able to cross things off!
UGH so jealous you got figs! I am a bit of a procrastinator too, unless it’s grocery shopping!
Ha! Priorities.
I finally got those figs and love them! I make a great chia jam with them!
That sounds delicious!
I am like that about some stuff too. Put it off way too long and it really isn’t that bad! Glad you got it done– that always feels better.
I want that cheese……
That picture just goes to show you that you should never shop hungry!
TJ’s “Many Clove Garlic Cooking & Simmer Sauce” is so good! I use it mostly for marinating/cooking chicken or sometimes use a little bit when I’m sautรฉing veggies. Probably not the healthiest – but so tasty.
I may have to check that out. Sounds easy and delicious!
In Type-A fashion I tackle most things immediately. But I’ve gotten “lazier” or more relaxed over the years and push certain things off until the last minute. I went to Trader Joe’s a few days ago here in the city and the shelves were practically empty! I like going there for produce though.
Taxes are definitely in that category of those certain things that I push off more than others!
Trader Joe’s is my favorite..I may have chosen my apartment in SF because it was located only a couple of blocks away from a TJ’s. I recently discovered their pre-proportioned trail mix packs. Really nice to toss in my bag!
Ha! TJ is great for finding things that you never knew you needed!
Yummy cheeses…I always get flowers at TJ’s and I just made a bag of that Farro…so easy and so good. I want to try the bulgur next time I shop there. Oh and TJ’s tahini is awesome! ๐
Yes! I love using their tahini in salad dressings!
I love the feeling of “getting it all done!!” good job, jen!! ๐ OS: love looking in your grocery cart too!
