Teaching yoga is my favorite thing in the whole world to do. While I love so many things about teaching, helping my students realize and believe in their own strength and start a journey of personal growth is high on the list. You see, what often begins as a physical practice that is a “good workout” usually transforms into something much deeper. You start to want to feel as good off your mat as you do on your mat.
For years I have wanted to find a way to combine my love for the messaging and personal growth side of yoga with the powerful physical practice…and I’m excited today to share how it’s finally coming to life.
I am partnering with one of my dearest friends, Dorie Fusaro, (she is seriously like a sister to me at this point) to create Core Desire Yoga. This new venture combines our shared love for yoga and personal growth.
Core Desire Yoga will offer weekend workshops and retreats that combine Danielle LaPorte’s The Desire Map with power yoga, deep stretch and meditation. Dorie is a licensed Desire Map program facilitator and will lead participants through The Desire Map Level One. I will lead yoga practices throughout the course that support the themes of the program.
Combining The Desire Map with yoga is a powerful way to deepen your experience with the program by opening your body, heart and mind through movement, breath and meditation.
The Desire Map started out as a book, written by Danielle LaPorte. I LOVE The Desire Map and Danielle LaPorte. I credit her books The Fire Starter Sessions and The Desire Map for helping set me on the path to where I am today.
Dorie and I have put so much planning into our workshop offering and I’m excited to share the details with you…
THE DESIRE MAP WORKSHOP – LEVEL 1 is a program for clarifying what you truly want in every area of your life, and using that powerful awareness to guide your choices from now on.
You will leave this workshop knowing your “core desired feelings” – a guidance system for your decision-making. A GPS for your soul.
We’ll look at our perceptions around “feelings” and goal setting. We’ll examine how we drive and strive, and see where in our lives we experience freedom — and where we want more of it.
You will be guided through 5 life areas, to explore your most desired feelings in:
- Lifestyle + Livelihood
- Creativity + Learning
- Body + Wellness
- Relationships + Society
- Essence + Spirituality
Our first workshop will be in Charlotte the weekend of May 1-3. You can get the complete itinerary and program details on our website. And here’s the link to sign up. We’re offering an early bird discount through April 20.
Stay tuned for an announcement on a fall retreat date in the North Carolina mountains!
NOTE:
After declaring their core desired feelings, people have been known to make changes. You may quit stuff, launch something, stand up, shine brighter, ask for more.
You may feel the way you’ve always wanted to.

That is awesome! I wish I lived closer to the NC area, because I would have loved to join.
thanks shannon! 🙂
I am a new yogi (much to your credit) and I am already seeing a shift in my mindset. It surprised me as I went into it with the intention of it being a physical practice — ha! — it’s definitely a multifaceted practice. Would LOVE to travel to CLT from the Midwest; perhaps round 2!
Congrats on your newest endeavor!
so happy to hear that you’re seeing shifts from the yoga…on and off the mat. i will keep y’all posted on upcoming workshops!
Good for you, this sounds awesome! I start yoga teacher training next month and I often think about when/where/how I’d like to teach and from what angle. I love that yoga is so much more than the physical practice, and I look forward to learning more about the history, the mindset, and the overall lifestyle. I’m excited for the changes that training will inevitably bring about.
I’m curious to follow you on this endeavor and perhaps use your experience as a model for something similar in the future. Congrats and all the best to you as you get this wonderful idea rolling…
hey michelle, you will LOVE teacher training. it’s a life changing experience. there are SO many ways that you can teach…both in and out of a studio environment. the options and needs for it are so great. thanks for the support!
I’m so excited to see that you’re doing this, Jen! So inspiring! I’m currently reading The Fire Starter Sessions. I absolutely love it and the way it makes me think differently about where I am in life. Hopefully I can make it back to Charlotte for one of your future workshops.

I’ve officially put The Desire Map on hold at my library. Congratulations on this! If you gals ever feel like taking this show on the road, Scottsdale is verrrrrrry yoga-friendly. 🙂
erin – you will love it! it’s such a powerful way of training yourself to think, feel and live. hopefully we will take this on the road in the coming years! 🙂
Congratulations!! I’ve been following your blog for years and it’s amazing to see you grow with your passions over time.

This sounds so wonderful, Jen. I wish I was in your area…I would sign up for the workshop right now if I did. Will you two ever be traveling to other areas to offer the workshop (I’m in the NYC area)?
that is the long-term goal!
Can you please come to Florida and lead a workshop!?! Congrats on another amazing venture!
How cool! Love dorie! I am reading the fire starter sessions right now and loving it. I’m not sure I could swing it right now but maybe in the future. The retreat sounds awesome. Best of luck!
This sounds fantastic – too bad there’s an ocean between us, because I love the idea. Best wishes with this venture!
