I am a firm believer that there is nothing better than fall race season. Here are my primary reasons.
- Conditions. Even though the training requires you to run through the heat of the summer, you don’t have to train through the dark and cold days of winter like you do for spring races. I will take hot weather running over cold any day. I prefer to hibernate in the hot yoga studio during the winter. Like a yoga bear. ๐
- Scenery. I love watching the seasons change as I train and then having beautiful fall colors for my race day viewing pleasure. It makes the course so much more pleasurable.
- Weather. Perfect temperatures. Cool starts with most days warming up to the 60s or 70s.
- Variety. There are so many to choose from! It seems like every weekend in Charlotte we have several races of varying distances going on.
Sadly, my fall race season isn’t everything that I thought it would be but that hasn’t stopped me from enjoying shorter distance runs and races.
Our local Lululemon store is calling October ‘Run’-tober to celebrate fall races in Charlotte. They’re heading out to events to cheer on runners and hosting a little “Why Do You Run” challenge.
If you live in Charlotte, post your own picture describing in six words or less why you run on the Charlotte Lululemon Facebook page. The most creative entry will get some run accessories and a year-long membership to the Charlotte Running Club.
If you don’t live in Charlotte, I would still LOVE to hear the answer to, “Why Do YOU Run!”
In fact, if you e-mail me a picture of you holding your own sign, I’ll do a big round-up post at the end of the month!
Happy Run-tober everyone!
for me time, for my sanity, for the endorphins! i hope i can fit that on 1 sign ๐
YES endorphins! they’re addictive!
I run simply because I can.
love it. i tell my yoga classes all the time how lucky we are to be able to move and breathe.
If you can, you must:)
Running is rejuvenating (especially accompanied with a healthy dose of cool fall air)!
Oh gosh I have not hung upside down like that in years. Lol. Wonder if I could still do it.

First, I love that picture, I hope you win!
I run because it’s cheaper than therapy ๐
I run because it makes me feel alive!
love!
Haha that is an AWESOME photo of you!! ๐ I run because it is my passion. I would never stop doing something I can’t go a day without thinking about ๐
Love the playground pic! So cute. Fall is my favorite time of year to run — the temps are perfect, the scenery is beautiful, and it’s a great way to get outside, especially before the winter comes!
Love this! I run because I find it to be all-encompassing–I swear it helps my body AND mind! October is a great time to run–last Saturday I went out for 12 miles simply because the weather was so perfect, I couldn’t resist!
it so does help body and mind! it’s a great release for me. i always feel renewed after a run.
awesome 12-miler! any big races on the books for you?
If you see me running, it’s probably because I’m being chased. Or I’m chasing after one of our dogs. No seriously – I have really tried to fall in love w/ running but we’ve barely made it to first base. I do like brisk walks and I sometimes actually find myself at a low jog – especially when I have a fur-buddy with me. ONE DAY I WILL become a runner! Love the pic of you on the monkey bars!
not everyone has to be a runner! i admit that it takes a while to get past the “i just want to puke” into “this is enjoyable” but it does become addictive.
there are so many other physical activities to fall in love with. try them all. find what hooks you!!!!!!!
frost on the grass, hot chocolate post run drinks, feeling the cool air in your lungs. LOVE IT! And love that you are loving life!
mmmm hot chocolate. haven’t had my first of the season yet. need to change that!
life is so good. i feel so blessed.
I run because it is the one activity that makes me feel STRONG regardless of how fast or slow or long or short I go. “No matter how slow you go, you’re still lapping everyone on the couch.” ๐
