Happy Wednesday! My day is off to a fabulous start. I subbed a 6:30 a.m. hot vinyasa class. Nothing brings me more joy early in the morning than helping people to start their day with a yoga practice. It’s just as therapeutic for me as the teacher as it is for them. Who needs coffee when you have chaturangas and backbends to wake you up?
Another bright spot in my week was stopping by Erin McDermott’s studio to pick out a new piece of jewelry.
Many of your might remember me writing about Erin before (check out this post for a full background) but she’s a crazy talented jewelry designer from Charlotte that I’ve connected with over the last year. She’s the one who designed and made my “Om Nama Shivaya” necklace that never leaves my body.
The best part about stopping in to see Erin is visiting with her bulldog Sukie. She was modeling all kinds of necklaces for me. Isn’t she adorable?
Erin told me she has been really into clovers lately and had quite a few necklaces and earrings showcasing them. I ended up choosing this long gold necklace with a clover and white stone. I think it will be perfect for the summer and that I’ll be able to wear it with so many things.
Erin recently launched a “Luxe Box” program where you pay upfront for a year’s worth of jewelry. She sends you a new piece every month. She said the response so far has been overwhelming. It makes me so happy to see her succeeding! She totally deserves it and has worked so hard to get to where she is now.
Side note…I am ALL ABOUT seeing people (especially fellow women) pursue their dream professions and succeed which is why you’ll frequently see me feature friends and others I’ve connected with when they’re doing awesome things like this.
Lots of pretty new things on the blog this week, huh?
Let’s get back to the stuff I’m really good at. Food and workouts.
Homemade pizza with whole wheat crust, tomato sauce, Italian chicken sausage, mushrooms, spinach, sundried tomatoes, artichokes and mozzarella cheese.
Chobani pear yogurt, bananas, museli and sunflower seed butter with Awake Tea.
Soup and sandwich.
Regarding workouts…
Monday – run 2.25 miles on treadmill and CrossFit
400 meter run (cash in)
4 rounds
12 Box Jumps
12 Sumo Deadlift High Pulls
400 meter run (buy out)
Took me a little over 12 minutes. Pretty slow compared to other females but SDHPs are not my strong suit.
Tuesday – run a 5K on the treadmill and bodyweight circuit
Loving this little circuit.
5 rounds
25 air squats
15 crunches of your choice (I did Bosu crunches)
10 pushups
Super quick and comes out to a nice even 100 squats, 75 crunches and 50 pushups.
Have a great day!
Wow that’s beautiful jewelry! The pizza looks good too, but I’ll pass on the sausage there.
I think you need to call yourself the sandwich queen! Seriously, every sandwich you post has me drooling. 🙂
We made pizza over here this weekend. There sure is nothing like homemade crust with lots of yummy toppings. Hope you are having a great Wednesday. Vacation is getting even closer day by day!!!
What recipe did you use for your whole wheat crust!? Looks delicious!
Trader Joe’s dough! 😛
LOVE the necklace.
Duke is precious.
Where did you get that amazing mug at? LOVE it.
And that pizza looks insanely good. I LOVE TJ’s pizza dough. Last time I was in Charlotte, I went to the midtown location and literally bought every ball they had (11, I think) to bring back to Arkansas with me.
Absolutely gorgeous pieces and what a great idea for a reasonable price! I’m totally going to book mark this and dig deeper into her site. Told my client last night to make your carrot ginger soup. She loves your site. Have a fabulous Monday and your tabata workout is up on my site today. Thanks for letting me share! XO
What a beautiful necklace! Looking at the Luxe-Box now, what a great idea.
Both workouts sound great. What does “cash in” and “buy out” mean?
I was catching up on posts I’ve missed and saw you were looking for book recommendations. I just read The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker in less than a day. I was literally reading while walking to my car today because I could not put it down. It would be a great vacation read!
That pizza sounds so good right now!
I love all pups, but I’m not a huge fan of English bulldogs (but love Frenchies). A friend had an English bulldog and he was very aggressive with his …. uhhh …. humping, and it coloured my impression of the breed 😉 Perhaps not entirely justified on my part.
What is an air squat??
I LOVE her jewelry!!
I only use Trader Joe’s whole wheat pizza dough but mine never come out looking as good as yours!
That necklace is incredible! I rarely wear jewelry but I’ve been looking for some simple pieces I could splurge on for myself. Checking her site out now!
I signed up for Erin’s newsletter after reading about her on your blog awhile back and recently signed up for the luxe box! Love the idea. Her jewelry is beautiful and she and Sukie are both adorable.
Hi Jen! I am Erin’s sister and was so excited to see your write-up about her this morning. I am so proud of my creative sister for making her dreams a reality. Erin told me about your blog some time ago, and I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading it – all the way out in Dallas. Not only do I love learning about new workouts and receipes from you, but I also find your posts motivating and inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and knowledge and I wish you the best in everything!
Ever since I read about Erin on your blog, I have ordered several pieces of jewelery from her! She’s fantastic and thank you for telling us about her.
Beautiful jewelry! And Sukie is adorable!!
That sandwich is TO DIE FOR!
