Hi everyone. How are you holding up? It’s been a roller coaster over here with some highs and lows. I mostly feel like I can’t clean and straighten up as fast as Finn, Zoey and Benji can dirty and mess. (I have a feeling that many of you can relate to this!) While I am not a neat freak by any stretch, the state of my house impacts the state of my inner peace so I do like for things to be somewhat clean and orderly.
In general, I’ve found that my overall mood is much lifted if the weather is nice, especially if the sun in shining. We’ve been spending hours in the backyard in the afternoons during that post-nap and pre-dinner window. Earlier this week we had a couple of days of rain and it was really tough to have everyone trapped inside. I’m grateful that the five day forecast is showing warm weather and sun!
Another thing that lifts my mood is teaching and being creative with workouts and yoga flows. Teaching virtually for the studios that I work for has been wonderful. And this week I started recording full yoga and strength classes at home that you guys can “rent” since so many of you preferred on demand instead of live stream. My developer is working on creating a whole new section of my website where you can find these workouts but here are the first two if any of you are interested in taking them!
- 60-minute grounding power yoga flow
- 40-minute total body dumbbell super set workout (I am so sore from filming this yesterday!)
As of 8a today we are under a stay at home order here in Mecklenburg County through April 16. It’s a fairly flexible stay at home order and not too far off from what many of us were already doing with social distancing and staying at home. It seems we needed stricter guidelines for the safety of our community and for those who were not adhering to recommended measures voluntarily.
For this post, I mostly wanted to check-in and share some things to make you smile so I have some fun dog pictures for you and a video montage of Finn’s sweetness at 22 months! I’ve received blog comments and Instagram messages from you guys that seeing the dogs and Finn brings you a little bit of joy…so I’m happy to share and spread that.
BENJI BOY!
Benji is such an affectionate dog. He loves to be close to me and follows me all over the house.
Love this one of him in the yard with a ball and his tongue hanging out of his mouth!
I swear to you that I did not stage this. I found these two this way. Side note: Finn has been obsessed with this There’s A Mouse About The House book that a friend handed down to us recently. He constantly wants to read “mouse.”
Benji will be nine months old on March 30 and while he definitely has his “puppy” moments, overall I could not ask for a better dog for our family. I feel lucky every day that we all found each other! 🙂
FINN’S PJ DIARIES AT 22 MONTHS
Lately, I’ve been thinking so much about these “Livi-isms” posts that my friend The Fitnessista used to write where she shared the cute things her daughter said. While I always loved the posts, now that I have a verbal and active toddler…I totally get why she wrote them! Just the other day I was talking to my grandmother and she said that we needed to write down the things that Finn is saying and doing because they’re so darn cute and funny. I actually did make a list of my favorite memories at 20 months in my google drive.
I make a lot of videos of Finn to send to my grandmother and mom so I made a little montage of some cute moments from the last week.
The other thing that I wish I had on video was a moment earlier this week when Finn was walking around with an empty gallon water jug. I heard him in the living room saying “oh shoot” and saw him run into the den and come back with a dish towel out of the clean laundry. He took it back in the living room and squatted down and started dabbing at the carpet…all while saying “shoot, shoot.” I guess there was a tiny bit of water in jug and he spilled it on the carpet. I was dying laughing. The funniest thing is that he uses so many words in the right context. Shoot is one of them. He says it all the time. At least he doesn’t say the alternative word, right!?
Okay, I need to get set up to teach a live stream class in just a bit for Charlotte Yoga. Don’t forget…I’m live streaming classes for VIBE5 and Charlotte Yoga and anyone can take them no matter where you are! I will also continue to add to my video on demand offerings and get that easy to access page live for you ASAP!
QUESTIONS
How are you hanging in there?
Please share the funniest thing your dog or kid has said lately!
So much cuteness in a post…
OMG this video is just too cute. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face today!!!!
We are hanging in there. We are fortunate to have had great weather of late, so my sons (whose school is closed through at least April 10) can play outside.
My sons (now 8) and nephew (now 13) said SO many cute things when they were toddlers! Definitely keep a list because, as hard as it is to believe now, you will forget them if you don’t.
One of the cutest things I can think of that one of my sons said was that he used to use the world “hulk” to mean a large portion of something. So if he had a big pile of LEGO bricks, he would say he had “a hulk bunch” of LEGOs.
My nephew used to say “stummyache” instead of “tummyache” for the longest time. Super cute.
I have a 3 year old… on a morning walk the other day we saw two high school girls, one wearing short shorts (it was under 40 degrees in Chicago that day). My son yelled out: “why that lady not wearing pants?? Why? The other lady wearing pants!” He wouldn’t stop talking about it for 5 minutes ?
The 60-minute grounding power yoga flow was amazing! Thank you so much for sharing it! It made such a difference in my day.
Hi Abbey – thanks so much for taking my class and taking the time to comment. I am grateful. <3
