Hey, hey! I hope you guys had a great Thursday. My day was long but really good. I kicked it off with teaching at 6 a.m. and then spent the day working on various projects for the studio and my blog. I also met my friend Virginia for a run and did some fun errands.
I spent the bulk of the day at the studio because I’ve been training our new marketing coordinator. We ended up hiring someone full-time instead of freelance and I am so, so excited. She’s amazing and we desperately need the help. I ate this salad around 1 p.m. with arugula, dried cranberries, toasted almonds, avocado and chicken from Namastay Kitchen.
I met Virginia for a run this afternoon, our second run together this week! I swear I’m sorry that I keep rubbing this in but it was nearly 80 degrees and sunny for our run. We knocked out just under 6 miles at an 8:30 pace. The route we ran was super hilly but really pretty. It was a great workout.
After work I hit up Ulta and CVS to pick up a few things. Ulta was totally unnecessary but I’ve been wanting to refresh my makeup routine a bit so I thought our upcoming vacation was a good excuse to do it. I’m particularly excited about these three finds…
- Smashbox Golden Hour Eye Pallete
- Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation
- Benefit Rockateur Rose Gold Blush
I also picked up new Tweezerman slant tweezers because they’re just the best and I lost mine. I also got a Tweezerman eyelash curler and my favorite ROC retinol eye cream.
At CVS I got deodorant, some travel-sized things and tons of sunblock – including this La Roche-Posay sunscreen that is super highly rated. At $29, it wasn’t cheap but I don’t mess around when it comes to protecting my face.
Okay, let’s chat about running for a minute.
First, I’m excited to announce that I’ve been asked to serve as a social ambassador for Newton Running in 2017. My mom gave me my first pair of Newton’s as a birthday gift nearly two years ago and it’s been love ever since. I’m looking forward to working with them!
Second, I’m considering running the Corporate Cup Half Marathon on March 4. Given that I haven’t really run further than 7 miles since December, it’s a bit of a toss up on how this might turn out but I’m hopeful. I was offered a free entry to the race and I just have a hard time saying no to local half marathons. I so enjoy the distance and running around our awesome city. The real selling point is that it benefits an organization near and dear to my heart…the Y. I’ve been an employee of the Y for about 8 years now and I am so appreciative of all they do for the community.
Last year’s race had record participation and generated more than $210,000 for the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. That money goes directly to YMCA programs benefiting Y readers and the Stratford Richardson community. 2017 marks the 38th running of the race and they’re expecting the biggest turnout yet.
So…join me!?
Also, the Y has graciously offered me a couple of FREE entries to give away to my local readers. Please leave a comment letting me know if you’d like it! I’ll give away one entry here and one on Instagram over the weekend.
And I leave you with this. Tanner spilled a bunch of food on the floor when he was transferring food from the bag to the container tonight and the girls went NUTS. Zoey was choking she was inhaling it so quickly.
Half marathon…yes or no?
Favorite foundation or BB cream?
Favorite facial sunscreen?
Love that La Roche Posay! I have the tinted version and wear it every day that I’m not wearing makeup that already has spf 🙂
I would love an entry to corporate cup! I love racing in Charlotte and haven’t done this half in about 7 years because it just hasn’t worked with my schedule but I am free this year!
run the half! you can totally do it! for sunscreen, I use skinceuticals. It’s a bit pricey but worth every penny! No parabans or any of the funky ingredients often found in sunscreens. It’s great for the face – no break outs and good for the skin
I also love the tinted La Roche Posay and am definitely going to try that rose gold blush next time I’m at Ulta!!
I’ve done a couple of half marathons in the past and would love to do another one in October, but have bilateral runner’s knee and was wondering if you have any tips or tricks on dealing and healing… I am wearing a brace on one knee, but can’t seem to get past 4-5 miles without sharp pain in both. 🙁
Thank you in advance.
I would love an entry to the 5k!
I would love an entry to the 5k! Haven’t run over 6 miles since my last half (Thunder Road in 2015!) whoops!
Yes, definitely to the half! I’m pacing the 8-minute group and it’s a great race!
Virginia is one of my awesome coaches at MADabolic! She’s wonderful. I would love an entry for the half for Corp Cup if they are still available.
I was at Ulta Cotswold last week…had my brows done at Benefit. Can’t remember her name, but she was awesome. Got her card. And, she suggested the exact same Smashbox eyeshadows!
Run it!!! I wish I could, but not enough time to build up for me! Hope you have a great weekend.
I did corporate cup a few years ago – fun race! I would love to run with you sometime!
I would love to run the 13.1 or 5K with you! 🙂
Half Marathon HECK YEAH! I am currently looking for some to sign up for as our warmer temperatures have me all jazzed up about running outside. 🙂 Have a fabulous weekend and glad you’re taking advantage of the weather!
I would love an entry for the 5k. I did the race 2 years ago and I loved the route through Uptown.
Two things!
1. I actually REALLY like Mary Kay foundation – and the Garnier Fructis gel moisturizer!
2. Always up for a half marathon – i did TWO in February – one in Tennessee (where I live) and one in Texas (while I was on vacation!) I havent done one in NC, but I am ready to add it to the list! Signed up for #15 in April, so a March one would be a good intermediate!!!
Yay for half Marathons!
Too faced powder foundation is one of my favorite. From drugstore, the Loreal Infallible one is pretty good!
Hello! First of all Charlotte looks so beautiful! I live in Utah and this time of year is cold and dreary. I told my husband that I want to move to Charlotte! And second, I use to be a runner, back in 2010 I ran a full marathon and for 3-4 years several Ragnar’s and races. Well I have gained weight and have stopped running. I want to get back into it. I have used HOKAS in the past, but am wondering if I should try the Newtons? I hate to say but I am 198 lbs and 5 foot 8, so that is a lot of weight on these knees. I am just wondering if you think the Newtons have the cushion and support I would need as a beginning runner again? Any advice you have is appreciated.
thanks
Janelle Harvey
Would love a chance to win an entry to the 5k! Former race junkie, I Haven’t run a race since moving to NC from FL a year ago!
I’m obsessed with Bobbi Brown’s BB cream. It’s light on the face so it’s perfect to wear during the warmer months. The whole bottle can last me a couple months, so it’s definitely worth the $!
I’m in the same boat as you! Haven’t had a long run since the Charlotte Half in November, but keep thinking about registering for Saturday’s race. Would love to be in the running for your race entry giveaway!
Have a great time at Zoetry. I went there a year and a half ago after first reading about it on your life 🙂
I’d love an entry for the 5k so my husband and I can run it! It would be the first race run with our son 🙂
