Thanks for sending along your good vibes after my post yesterday and I’m so glad that the gratitude meditation was well-received. Sullie is going in to see the vet today at 3:30 p.m. to have the lump checked and for her annual check up. I’ll let you know ASAP what the report is. As for me, I didn’t quite receive the news I was hoping for from my appointment so I have a follow-up soon. I don’t mean to vague-blog but health stuff is so stressful, especially when you feel like you try hard to be “healthy” but some things are out of your control. I promise to tell you more when I know more but for now practicing positivity and gratitude.
For today, let’s talk about running.
HOLY COW. Can we all agree that it’s been a hot summer of running!? While I would call a sunny run in the 50s my idea of perfect running weather, I will pick summer running over freezing cold winter running any day. But summer running never fails to humble me.
For the last couple of months my runs have felt like a struggle. I usually find myself stopping 3-4 times just to stand on the side of the road and get it together. The humidity has been a beast. Magically, a few days ago we had a big break in the humidity and I knew I had to take advantage of it and run. I ran almost four miles and didn’t need to stop once. This gives me so much hope for the fall!
Fall running and racing season is quickly approaching and I’m evaluating my options.
Fall is my favorite running season and I always find myself itching to be out there knocking out long runs and racing on the weekends. Last fall I ran 5 races as part of my ambassadorship with the Charlotte Marathon and I enjoyed it so much. I’m definitely wanting to add at least 3-4 races to my calendar this season.
I think I’m a definite for a 10K and the Charlotte half marathon and I’m on the fence about Kiawah. I deferred my registration for the full last year due to travel for my uncle’s funeral. I would like to use my registration this year but whether that is for a half or the full is the question. I’m not putting any pressure on myself either way but just kind of keeping my options and mind open!
This leads me to my final thought. Last year I hosted an online training group for the Charlotte Half Marathon. We still have a Facebook group and it was a great way to keep each other accountable and motivated throughout the training season. I’d love to know if this is something that you guys are interested in doing again this year. I sent out plans and we all kind of followed along together. We can either train for a specific race (like the Charlotte half or full marathon) or virtually train together and then run races and report back to each other.
If you’re interested, let me know! You can leave a comment, shoot me an email or request to join the FB group and post there. I think we’d need to get started in the next few weeks!
Last thing…a 90 minute running and workout playlist!
Here’s the link to the playlist on Spotify.
Have a great day friends!
Definite yes on the group!!!
Fall is my all time favorite for running! I’m excited because we’re moving to Vermont at the end of this month, perfect timing for fall running! We don’t get much of a fall in Colorado, so I’m really looking forward to swooshing through leaves and the crisp fall air!
I am running my second half on Oct 22 after a four year hiatus so definitely in for the group!!!
I’m running my second half on October 1st! I would be interested in the training group!
Positive vibes for your follow-up!
And yes to the group! Followed your half training plan last year and had my fastest half ever! Thank you so much for doing that.
Definitely interested in group online training
Fall is definitely the best running weather! I was leaving my parents house (in IL) Sunday morning after visiting and it was the PERFECT running weather. I really wanted to get back to Michigan before traffic would get too bad but I was wishing I woke up a bit earlier to fit it in because it was just so perfect and a reminder of how much I love cooler/fall weather for running and just in general.
Thanks for the play list! And yup…i might be up for a online training group!
Sending calm and healing vibes you and Sullie’s way <<<3
I just asked to join you fb group. I'm just trying to get back into running after dealing with many years of knee problems, so I probably won't be able to keep up with any specific training plans. Would still love to be a part of a friendly group of runners though!
I’m doing the Kiawah 1/2 this year! 😀
Yes, I would love to participate in the on-line training. group. Thank you!
I shared the gratitude reading in my Yin class last night. So good ?
Well wishes and sending positive vibes out into the universe for you!! Just breathe….
Yes please to the virtual training group and very best wishes for good news re your health!!
You have me wanting to run a race now!! I love fall running…and I haven’t done a real race in years. I think I’m scared to mess with the love affair I have with running and make it something that feels like a chore. Anyways, that picture of people running in that fall weather is giving me ALL the feels right now. I may have to look into some races 🙂 Hope you’re doing well girl!
I would be interested in a running group!
Jen do you offer online personal training as well?
