I hope you’ve all had a great week. Lots to catch up on.
First, the girls. Oh my heart.
I ran out of coffee this morning so we all went for a car ride to the neighborhood coffee shop that brews local Magnolia coffee. I am so off of Starbucks right now!
Zoey loves getting her belly rubbed whether it’s a foot or a hand.
And they’re all about getting their bellies rubbed at the same time. They’re not spoiled at all. (They love each other.)
And late at night they sometimes get invited on the couch.
It’s basically just golden retriever heaven over here. 🙂
Yesterday I was scheduled to appear on Charlotte Today to make my Tropical Green Smoothie recipe. Unfortunately, I am still trying to recover from losing my voice and warned the hosts that I was only at 50%. They schedule the segments and shows so far ahead of time that I had to suck it up and do the best I could. It wasn’t pretty but I made it happen.
Here’s the video. Not my proudest TV appearance but still grateful for the opportunity.
About my voice…after 10+ days of symptoms ranging from sore throat to coughing to laryngitis, I finally went to the doctor last night. I hadn’t been able to teach in 5 days and it was killing me. She said whatever virus I had morphed into a full on sinus infection and that my throat and lungs were super inflamed from the drainage and coughing.
So I’m on an antibiotic. Boo. I tried so hard to avoid it but she said “I fought a good fight” and after 7+ days of getting worse and not better it was time.
We are hosting Kerri Verna, best known as Beach Yoga Girl at the studio this weekend for two workshops. We have handstands on Friday night and core strength and inversions on Saturday afternoon. Kerri has over 800,000 Instagram followers and an amazing practice. I can’t wait to meet her and learn from her! Local readers, here’s a link to more info if you want to attend. We’re pretty much sold out but can accommodate a few more.
Have a very happy Friday!
Yogi readers…what inversion or arm balance is at the top of your list right now?
Dogs and their belly rubs…so cute! My dog just naturally rolls over every time someone comes near him and assumes they want to rub his belly. I’ve been so out of yoga this summer (I miss it) but my favorite arm balance, or the one I’m working on holding for more than 3 seconds, is flying pigeon.
I thought you did fantastic on your segment! I love spinach in my smoothie and will be trying this recipe this weekend!
Thank you!
The segment was great Jen!
I hope you feel 100% soon! XOXO
Inversions and arm balances are my love <3 My all time favorites are 8-angle and really any forearm variation of handstand!
Thank you!!
You did such a good job on your segment!
Be careful with your voice!!!!! I did permanent damage by talking through a bout of laryngitis like that before!
Thanks! It’s getting better!
I hope you feel better!
Thanks!! I’m definitely improving with the antibiotics
your segment was great…… and your voice sounded sex! i was just on tv last week too…… what a fun experience!
Sorry you’re still sick 🙁 But I think the doc is right that sometimes you just gotta do the antibiotics after trying to beat it yourself. You did great on the TV segment, even with a sore throat!! Have a wonderful weekend and feel better <3
Thanks!!
Malasana to pet the pups! So cute. I was so bummed I couldnt make Kerri’s workshop this weekend- love her! Feel better!
Ha! Thank you!
Jen, great segment on tv! Sorry you were sick, I use a sinus rinse of distilled water and saline daily (think neti pot). It helps!
Thank you!
I am one of your yogis from Om…miss your Friday class Jen!! 🙂
However, my goal is to start working on and eventually nailing a full on forearm stand…I’m not a fan of headstands, and can only achieve handstand against a wall. Any tips on forearm balancing?? 🙂
I miss you all too! Try placing a block right between your hands with your thumb and forefinger making an L-shape on the corners. It will make sure you keep your hands far enough apart to create a stable base.
Handstands is my inversion that I wish I could just NAIL…One day…I think I just need to practice it a lot on the beach…HA! Have a wonderful weekend and I hope the medicine works…xoxo
Ha! Thank you!
