Hi there. I feel like I’m coming up for air in the best way possible. I’m a little over one week into the changes I shared last week. Adjusting to a new schedule and routine is always a bit of a challenge but it’s also proving to be a much needed breath of fresh air. Every day I feel grateful that I took the plunge and the energy around all of it has been so good and right. In addition to all the yoga stuff, I’m also full steam ahead on my yoga book and other writing projects. There are a lot of balls in the air at the moment but I’m excited about them. That’s a good place to be.
Here are a few photos of what life has been looking like lately over here.
Lots and lots of yoga. I taught 10 classes last week and I’ve practiced more in the last week than I have in months. While I love all of the jobs that I do, teaching yoga is my #1 favorite. When I teach I’m ALL IN for my students so it’s a lot of energy out. I have to be mindful of making sure that I do things to make sure that I’m getting some of it back. This means more quiet time at home in favor of constant social plans and spending time on my own personal practice.
Speaking of quiet time at home, this one has been keeping me company. We have been taking long walks to get clear and get present. She’s the best companion for it.
These are the kind of amazing messages I get from my personal training clients. Another sent me a series of photos from the Nordstrom dressing room of her in cocktail dresses saying she’d never felt so good and confident in her life. I love my clients!
My teacher Johnna Smith agreed to be one of the models in my yoga book. We’ve been shooting for the last week with Wanda Koch. Johnna’s practice is unbelievable. I’m so honored to have her featured in the book. This is us goofing off at the shoot. We always end up with random photos like this on set.
I have absolutely zero recent eats to share with you other than this fig and prosciutto flatbread. I have been eating the same exact things for days. Smoothies and leftover chicken and winter squash chili. I needed a break from the chili last night and made this flatbread instead.
I jumped at the excuse to put on real clothes today for an appointment. I needed to feel like a real person and not just a sweaty yoga teacher. Tom’s suede wedges, H&M gray jeans, black t-shirt, Target scarf, white sunglasses.

Later this week I’ll be posting some recipes, including a homemade yogurt tutorial from my dad. I’ll also be posting the Erin McDermott Jewelry giveaway winner. I am having an issue seeing comment numbers with the new blog format. It’s making it difficult to determine who the winning entry is! I’m on it though…
What’s going on with y’all? What are you up to? Reading? Writing? Watching?
I loveeee the video you posted!! Stairs are the devil after a marathon. Lately I’ve been writing new posts for my blog. Trying to come up with some new and fun things! Lately I’ve been watching The Walking Dead. I’m addicted!
As a teacher I know just how draining it can be. Whenever I teach more than two classes a day I’m spent emotionally for a while!
LOVE the race day signs!
I love that scarf!! im all about scarves this season!
I love that article on how we are doing ourselves a disservice by trying to please everyone. Thank you for sharing!!
It’s great to see that everything is going well with your yoga teaching. I hope some of those silly photos make it into your book 😉
I can understand that teaching so much would be energy draining, and I think it’s good that you are working in ways to gain some of that back. Long walks are always helpful 🙂 Love those Tom’s Wedges! And yes absolutely jump at any reason to get dressed up in “real clothes” haha I’m with you!
oh that video !!! i have only run a half and the hardest thing even 3 days later was going DOWN stairs !!! at work people laughed at me for taking the elevator to go DOWN one flight but i had too !!!!
Hi Jen! Totally off the wall question – do you remember the name of the paint color in your living room? (the wall in the picture you took wearing those cute suede wedges) We are re-doing our basement, and that’s the sort of neutral color I’m envisioning. Thank you 🙂
hey christina – it’s sherwin williams anew gray and I LOVE it! i tried several grays and this one is perfect.
Great post – love that video of people walking after the NY marathon – looks like everyone has completely lost control of the functioning of their legs. Also, I had NO idea that you could bring dogs into Anthropologie & Barnes and Noble – Sukie is going to have lots to look forward to next weekend!
**Cute outfit & love those jeans from H&M!! You look great, chica!!
