From time to time I like to share things I’m loving with you. These posts can cover anything from beauty to food to fitness products and everything in between. Tonight we’re going to talk food.
2% plain Greek yogurt. Y’all…seriously. Take the plunge to 2%. It’s night and day difference in texture and taste.
Whole Foods’ Sparking Mineral Waters. My favorites are strawberry and lemon raspberry. I drink a lot of sparkling water/flavored seltzer because it’s a great refreshing carbonated alternative to soda with no added sweeteners, sodium, calories, etc.
Kale chips. Can’t get enough of them. Crispy, healthy and addictive. My base recipe is to tear a bunch of kale off the stem and rub with olive oil. Then I sprinkle it with sea salt and lemon pepper and roast at 400 for about 15 minutes. Even people who think they don’t like kale love kale chips.
Blue Diamond Honey Dijon Bold Almonds. I have tried so many of Blue Diamond’s almond flavors and I swear each one is just better than the last. The bold line is absolutely slammed with flavor. I can’t stop eating them!
Garden of Eatin’ Sweet Potato Corn Tortilla Chips. I love to eat some corn chips with my lunch bowls and enjoy the sweet and salty spin these put on them.
Green smoothies. I am on the biggest smoothie kick of my life. I am usually really take it or leave it with smoothies but I have been seriously craving them lately. This one was green, green, green with banana, spinach, mango, almond milk and ice. Simple and delicious.
What food product or food have you been loving lately?
Mmmm! Those sweet potato chips and smoothie look yummy! I can’t do the sparkling/carbonated drinks :/ I am also on a smoothie kick, I just don’t seem to get tired of them, ha!
why can’t you do carbonation?
try the sweet potato chips!
I love kale chips too from Whole Foods. Im addicted to them! Have you tried green smoothies from Trader Joes? They the best Ive tasted so far. 🙂
i haven’t – are they premade???
I can’t get enough of dried kiwis right now – such a delicious snack !!
i have never tried dried kiwi. i love dried mango. i’ll have to look out for the kiwi!
I made croutons last night and I cannot remember the last time I had them – definitely making them again soon. They reminded me of the salads I used to love making at Ruby Tuesdays
i don’t put croutons on my salads often but i always love them in restaurants. ruby tuesday…that’s such a blast from the past!
This makes me want a smoothie.
As for the yogurt … take the plunge to whole milk yogurt. Out of this world, and so so so good for you. (Seriously.) Yum. Now how will I choose breakfast for tomorrow — yogurt or smoothie??
i have tried the whole milk yogurt! it’s intense! put yogurt in your smoothie 😉
The first two items on your list are also two things I am seriously in love with right now. I always buy fat free greek yogurt but bought the 2% by accident the other day and It is so much better! Also, I love all the different forms of flavored sparkling water. A favorite of mine is La Croix in coconut flavor.
Yum. The coconut is so good…helps me pretend it’s summer!
i haven’t tried the coconut flavor. i think i’ve had all the others. i’ll have to pick it up next time i buy seltzer.
I have been on a serious smoothie kick as well lately, especially now that spring is here!
What?! Spring is here!!! It’s been so cold here in GA – it hasn’t felt like spring YET!
So excited to try some of your green smoothies! I’ve been living blender-less for the past few months so I’m going to go smoothie crazy once I pick mine up tomorrow.
i didn’t have one for a few months either. maybe that’s why i’ve been so crazy for smoothies!
Mmmm, that smoothie looks delicious! I planned to have eggs for breakfast, but you totally changed my mind. 🙂
My husband bought full-fat plain Greek yogurt at the store and I nearly yelled at him for it. But it tastes so much better! I don’t like the calories so I think I’ll scale back to the 2%.
yes, try the 2%. a great way to meet in the middle! 😉
Have you tried the TJ’s European yogurt? I really like that one. For a while I was buying it every week I was eating so much of it! Great for smoothies too.
i have not! i’ll look out for it.
I’m totally addicted to the Blue Diamond salt & vinegar almonds! I’m not so sure it’s a healthier alternative to chips if I eat the whole can at once though…ha!
i have been dying to try that flavor. and haha…i’m totally guilty of doing the same thing.
Hey Jen! Your smoothie looks amazing! Mine never come out that smooth, though. What kind of blender do you use? Thanks! 🙂
hey girl – i had a crappy blender for years. it wouldn’t even crush ice. i have a cuisinart now and it’s fabulous! and i use the vitamix when i make smoothies at the gym and that’s REALLY awesome!
Oranges! I do live in Florida 🙂 Also, maple almond butter, avacados, and Starbucks Americano’s with a bit of heavy cream.
It’s a random one this week, but I picked up some Irish Soda Bread on Sunday and making open faced sandwiches with it and it’s pretty spectacular. A little late I know after St.Paddy’s, but I had a craving and just went for it.
i haven’t had soda bread in forever. sounds yummy! it looked so good with your dinner last night.
Trader Joe’s Pineapple Salsa – I keep putting in on everything! It’s so good!!!
I’m also loving some regular, plain organic yogurt with frozen berries. Mix the yogurt with chia seeds, let it set for a little and it thickens up like Greek!
i’ve never tried the pineapple salsa. i love their salsa verde though!
Try putting nutritional yeast on your kale chips!!! AAAAAmazing.
What’s the difference between Greek yogurt and Greek Style yogurt?
I am really loving strawberries right now and am eating them way too fast.
I love kale chips too and sparkling water-especially the berry flavor from Trader Joe’s!
Fuji apples… my husband and I have been on a big kick. Also… peanut butter and banana sandwich for breakfast. Keeps me full until lunch!
Love those sweet potato chips so much.
I recently made the switch to 3.8% yogurt.. oh my goodness. I can’t ever go back to anything low or non fat. Lately I can’t seem to get enough cheese (any and all!) but especially goat brie and goat cheddar. Jalapeno stuffed olives, vanilla almond butter, canned coconut milk (for smoothies/fruit bowls) are up there too!
Happy weekend!
Your TJ goodies make me so jealous. B’ham needs a TJ so badly….then all would be right w/ the world! 😉 I am on a major shrimp kick lately. I am taking it as a sign that I am craving a trip to the AL coast!
I am on a serious coconut flake kick. Particularly Let’s Do Organic Unsweetened Coconut Flakes. Weather its on my paleo oatmeal for an added crunch or straight out of the bag. The chunks of coconut are what is so great rather than the shredded itty bitty pieces! Ah I’m getting excited to have some on my breakfast tomorrow morning 🙂
That smoothie looks amazing! I am just starting to make smoothes since I got a Vitamix as a gift. What portions of the ingredients do you use? Thanks for sharing some of your favorites!
I recently switched to 2% greek yogurt too because the store was out of the 0% I normally buy. And man, the difference in richness and texture is great! I’ll take the small addition of fat/cals for that flavor.
I love carbonated & flavoured water as well. We got ourselves a Soda Stream last year and just love it–fresh soda whenever we want without any additives. The lemon lime flavour for mixing is yummy as well when I want to jazz it up.
As far as what I’m loving these days, I’m on a serious yogurt covered pretzels kick right now.
Hi!
I love putting spinach into smoothies, but it seems to go bad SO quickly, especially since I live alone so there isn’t anyone else eating it up with me. Can frozen spinach be substituted for fresh in smoothies or will the taste be off?
