And I’m watching the Rachel Zoe Project again. This is seriously a problem – I’m obsessed. She’s trying to cook in this episode and she’s clueless. I’m loving it! It makes me feel less bad about having no fashion sense! ๐
I went to ashtanga this morning for all of 20 minutes…and then I rolled up my mat and left. My left upper hamstring is not in a good place right now. I’m going for a chiropractic/physical therapy consult tomorrow so please, please, please pray that it’s nothing too serious. I’ve already given myself a Google diagnosis that drove me to tears. This has come out of nowhere and I’m really upset about it. I’ve been a big ball of nerves all day with a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Let’s talk about happier things. Like food, fun workout clothes and BodyPump!
Lunch today was another veggie sandwich.
Hummus, tomatoes, spinach, red peppers, cucumbers and avocado on Great Harvest Dakota. Cantaloupe on the side.
I taught BodyPump after work. I was really worried about how my hamstring would hold up but it felt okay. The only time I felt discomfort was during squats so I took it easy. I was so excited that Nicole showed up for class today. LOVE having friends in class! ๐
I was also so excited to sport my new workout gear. The ladies from Lululemon Charlotte were so sweet to attend my 6 a.m. class Monday and bring me clothes to test. Although I’ve seen their amazing clothes all over the gym and yoga studio, I have never purchased Lululemon. I am officially a convert. The clothes are so high quality and feel great on.
I am especially loving their famous Power Y Tank. I’ve worn it to a yoga class and BodyPump. It’s the perfect length, feels very supportive and the built-in cups are a godsend. I will definitely be getting several more of these.
I have a habit of buying cheap workout clothes from Target and Old Navy but this is a great reminder that sometimes it’s totally worth it to splurge (especially if you live in workout clothes the way that I do). The quality is just unbeatable. THANK YOU LULULEMON! You have a new fan!
Dinner tonight was not exciting but delicious.
You’ve already seen a very similar dinner this week but I had to recreate it since my fridge is still overflowing with farmer’s markets veggies. I roasted eggplant, zucchini and okra with a drizzle of olive oil and Dizzy Pig rubs. I switched up my side item and made millet for the first time. I cooked it the same way that I do most grains – first I sauteed onion and garlic in a little olive oil and then added a half a cup of millet and a little over a full cup of water. I seasoned it with Kosher salt and then stirred in some chopped parsley at the end. I topped it all with a blob of plain Greek yogurt. Sorry for the unoriginal meals. I promise you’ll see more variety next week!
Have you tried any new “trendy” health foods lately? In my last two posts I’ve blogged about a new Larabar flavor, quinoa and millet. Yum!
I’m praying for you!!! Reading google will leave you in tears!! I had severe knee pain which I knew started out as it band problems but then it killed me to tears on a long run and following. I read and cried all the time bc I thought I had a torn meniscus and it was just an extremely inflamed it band. Just saying my experience.
I love lululemon too!!! Quality matters )I learned this too). There running gear is awesome!!!
Ashlee – thank you for your comment and for sharing your experience with your knee. I can’t believe how sad I have been about this injury. Even though it’s only been a week I just keep wondering if it’s ever going to get better. I’m hoping that I caught the injury early enough for it not to become a long-term issue. I am just having such a hard time dealing with this mentally! Ugh!
I was wondering if your cute outfit was lululemon…..you lucky! Good luck tomorrow.
I suffered a hamstring injury about two and a half years ago. I actually heard it rip! I am no doctor but the body has an amazing ability to heal. I just modified by regular physical activities until it healed. It took about 3 months before it was “cool”. And about another year before it was “alright”. It is completely healed now.
I say this because I know you are a physical person like myself and I know you don’t want to give that up. Trust me, you can still practice Ashtanga but with modifications.
I don’t know anything about running but if you could do the Body Pump, I am sure you could still do that with modifications as well.
Anywho, that is just my opinion. Use at your own risk.
Shanna – I just wanted to thank you for your comment and for sharing your experience. It is so frustrating and sad to be experiencing an injury like this. I think that mine is attributed to overuse and not one moment when I knew the injury happened. I’m hoping that I caught it early enough and that treatment now will result in quick recovery and it doesn’t become a long-term thing. I am happy to hear that you were able to continue your yoga practice with modifications. I think I would go completely crazy if I couldn’t practice.
Woohoo! That lulu looks so good! That is awesome you got som free things! They do last forever, too.
I will be sending positive thoughts your way today!
I hope your leg starts feeling better and you get a good diagnosis!
I’ve never tried Lulu either, but I really want to ๐
I just found your blog via Facebook. I am a fan of Lululemon. I love your blog and was really inspired by your recipes and fitness info. Thank you!
Suzette – thanks for the comment! So glad that you found my blog! ๐
The lulu looks great on you ๐ I have just recently learnt about the existence of lululemon while searching for a running meetup (on meetup.com) in San Fran… They’ve got one running close to where I live, so I might join them sometimes and even try their products ๐
Love lululemon clothes, I have heard such great things about the company’s products that I finally just recently went out and bought some of their pants! And love them so far ๐
