Whew…it’s been a whirlwind few days between the 24 hours in Tennessee + the winter weather. I was disappointed to have to cut my teacher training weekend short, but grateful to get home safely and for the excuse to hunker down with my crew. It was very cozy.
Some highlights and things of late to share…this is going to be a bit of a random post but work with me here.
When I was in Florida for Thanksgiving, my mom gave me this ornament for Finn’s first Christmas. She said she wanted to go with something more creative than “baby’s first Christmas” and I absolutely love it.
I started season two of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel last night and AHHHHH. This show is just so, so good! I already think I’ll watch it two times through just like I did the first season. It’s smart, funny, well-written and the acting is phenomenal.
My dinner options were very limited on my drive home from Tennessee late Saturday night. Chick-Fil-A sounded really good and all I wanted was the number one combo with the original sandwich and fries. It was perfect. (Note my pump in the background…car pumping FTW.)
I feel like Zoey is really struggling with the amount of attention that Finn gets along with how much I have been traveling. I would appreciate any suggestions that you guys might have for ways that I can make her feel special. Fortunately, she is very sweet with Finn so we don’t have any issues there. <3
I am usually such a wuss about the cold but I have been all about bundling everyone up for cold weather walks this season. I find the cold air to be so refreshing and energizing. Check out the tree that fell from my neighbors yard into the street. My neighbors on the right and left both had trees come down. I heard both of them and then was googling “tree safety in ice storms.” I was a little concerned about one coming down ON the house!
Icy trees. Pretty but also slightly terrifying.
This was the start of my yoga class on Saturday morning at Vida Hot Yoga in Kingsport, Tennessee where I am leading their teacher training. I am finally to a place where I feel ready to start teaching regularly again (like maybe 1-2 classes per week) but I am struggling to find a place in Charlotte that feels like the right fit. There is a new studio called The Space that is a co-working, collaborative space for yoga teachers. How amazing is that? I am thinking about offering classes there and possibly bypassing the studio route.
I also want to travel and teach workshops/trainings…ideally one weekend per month. I know I have been saying this for a long time but for reals this time. 🙂 Leading this out of town training has finally given me the wings I needed to make it happen.
Well, it’s 11 p.m. and I just ate a skillet chocolate chip cookie with ice cream for dinner. I really need to get to the grocery store and buy some veggies and protein…and plan some meals.
Time to wind down and get ready for bed now. I have to decide if I’m going to read my book or watch more Mrs. Maisel! I am trying to pace myself.
Hey Jen, I love your mother’s idea for Finn’s first Christmas ornament. Very clever and beautiful. I will have to check out that show that you mentioned. I have been hooked on The Good Place. o love Kristen Bell and Ted Danson.
I had Chick Fil A this weekend but I was kind of disappointed when they couldn’t get our soup ready and wanted to keep $5 or our money.
Unfortunately, we got some disappointing news this evening, my husband lost his job which we think is based on his views. We didn’t like it here anyways so I guess it is a blessing.
In regards to your girls feeling left out, you might find some ways to play with them that is different from their usual routine. I don’t have dogs but it works with my kids so who knows.
Thanks for your post. I always look forward to them.
Hi Jen! I love that you are looking to travel for workshops and trainings! I used to take classes at your studio all the time when I lived in Charlotte a couple of years ago. I’m now in Richmond, VA and would absolutely love if you would teach a workshop or training here! I would love to do YTT with you!
AHHH! Wonderful! Thank you! I love Richmond. What studio?
One of my doggies had the same issue when my son was born. I tried to make sure I took a few minutes here there to give him attention alone. It will get easier as Finn gets older. Now my son (age 3) plays with the dogs and can go on walks with them. I felt so guilty during the baby stage with my dogs. It was hard, but it does get easier! Hang in there!!
I can see already that Zoey will ADORE Finn so much when he’s able to run around and play with her! I need to make more of an effort to spend some one-on-one and ball throwing time with her!
