It was a resounding “YES” that you all wanted to see my marathon playlist. I am happy to share although I’m not sure that my taste in running music will appeal to everyone. It’s quite a mix of sounds! I have 107 songs – eight hours of music. Brandon told me if I need all of that, it’s going to be a long day on the course! Let’s hope I don’t. ๐
And finally, some pop/pump up songs!
What do you all think? Obviously, I love the Avett Brothers…
Let’s also take a moment to appreciate this:
And a quick recap of the day…I took today as a rest day. I needed it after last night’s intense yoga class and I just had way too much going on to workout anyway.
I ate lunch at my desk because today was one of those day! So much to wrap up before I leave.
Leftover Greek-style quinoa on a bed of spinach and topped with Greek yogurt. Half of an apple on the side.
Easy was the theme of tonight’s dinner. We are running around like crazy people trying to get ready for our trip.
Pad Thai with tofu and shrimp and Asian veggie medley.
Brandon won the husband of the year award tonight with his craft project.
He made my race day shirt! It looks awesome and I’m so excited to wear it. I will post a picture tomorrow night. Also, please check back because I will be posting information on how to track me during the race on Sunday morning. Brandon will be live reporting! ๐
Ahh…we’re leaving tomorrow!!!!!!! It’s finally here!
I’m excited for you!!! Yes, looks like perfect running weather! Enjoy it =)
Jen, I’ve been meaning to facebook you and tell you GOOD LUCK! I am so excited for you that you pushed through your injury – you are going to rock it. Have an awesome time and stay strong. Weather is in your favor! Also, I love your playlist and am going to be adding a lot of it to my workout mix very soon!
Enjoy this marathon! You’ve worked hard for it!
Thank you, Tracy. I really appreciate the kind words!!! I’m so excited – I feel like things have unfolded perfectly and I feel pretty prepared. I’m happy and grateful that I was able to bounce back from the injury. I also love the weather forecast – 40s to start and warming up to 60s. Perfect for me because I’ve trained in warmer weather so I’m glad it won’t be too cold.
So glad you put I Made It on the playlist! That is the jam! ๐ Great playlist, by the way! You’re gonna rock this race!
thanks stephanie! that song always gets me pumped up and is pretty perfect for running a marathon! ๐
So excited for you! I guess Brandon will be posting on Twitter? I will start following him… and tell him thanks for doing that.
Ya’ll have fun and good luck!
hi lauren! we’re trying to get my twitter account set up on brandon’s droid so that he can post from my account. if we can’t work that out he will be posting from his account. we’ll have all the details tonight!!!
thanks! sooooo excited!
good luck! have a great time! also, love the playlist-have you ever checked out the band MGMT?
thank you! and yes – i have two MGMT songs on my playlist! love them! we started listening to mgmt when the bassist from one of our favorite bands, the whigs, left to join that band (although i don’t think he still plays with them).
I’m really psyched for you Jen! Your running playlist looks a lot like mine- a lot more alternative/indie stuff than what you usually see on a lot of peoples’ lists. I can’t wait for your recap! Good luck!!!!!
Thanks Brittney! I can only take so much Top 40!!! ๐ I much prefer to chill out and get in the zone – especially when I’m doing long runs!
I read your blog daily, although this is my first comment, and I wanted to wish you luck. Your dedication to health and fitness is very inspiring, and although you don’t know it, your blog has helped motivate me as a beginning runner. Thanks for your honesty and willingness to share your journey.
Erin – thank you so much for your comment! I appreciate the good wishes and kind words. And congratulations on starting to run! So awesome! ๐
Can’t wait to hear your recap, best wishes for this weekend!!! ๐
i went to high school with Andrew VanWyngarden (the lead singer) here in Memphis, so it is really cool to see him now and remember him back then. they are really good! how hard was the transition from a half marathon to a full marathon? I am running half marathon distances (give or take a few) once a week and i am thinking about stepping up to a full. i am a little afraid that physically i can’t handle it. any advice??
I LOVE the Avett Brothers!!! Good luck!!
A few notes:
1. I love the song B*tch Went Nuts. It makes me want to bounce.
2. I had no idea who the Avett Brothers were until they were playing at the pavillion in Charlottesville and I could hear their set from wherever I walked. And here they are again!
Good luck, looking forward to your recap!
I am SO excited for you! And I’m quite sure you won’t need all 8 hours of music ๐
Aww how sweet Brandon made you a shirt! I can’t wait to see it!
I’m preeeetty sure we are music soulmates!! Awesome playlist! Good luck girl!!!
Good luck!! I’m so excited to hear all about it! More than anything, just enjoy ๐
Good luck on Sunday!!! I know you’ll do great! ๐
I love the Kevin Rudolf song; such a great uplifting song. Definitely one to be heard as your finishing up the race. Cause you made it, you made it!
I love that Sometime Around Midnight song. It’s on all my running playlists.
Loved reading about your last few days and the race! Great playlist…a little bit of everything(: I went to Band of Horses at the Fox last night and thought of you!
