We only had two full days in Mexico so prioritization of activities was key. It was nice that we arrived early enough on Friday to get a half day at the beach in and left late enough on Monday to get in a couple of hours in the morning before packing up and heading out.
I woke up at 7:30 a.m. Saturday after a 9 hour slumber. I was ready to go, go, go! I typically much prefer a room service light breakfast with coffee on vacation but that was not available at this resort so buffet it was. I’ll give you a hint as to my upcoming review of the resort…everything was wonderful except for the food and wine. The food was very average. Breakfast the first morning was fresh fruit, yogurt with granola, banana and peanut butter, plantains and fresh juices (<– I did really appreciate this).
We spent a couple of hours on the beach at our resort in the morning and then decided to take a day trip to Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita to take a tour as we are planning a yoga retreat there in February.
We met the group manager who graciously took some of her time to give us a tour of the resort and extended a day pass so that we could experience the resort and its amenities for ourselves.
The resort was beautiful and the service was impeccable. My two favorite things about the pool were the double loungers and that they didn’t play music.
Mojitos.
Sushi lunch delivered poolside. The food at Zoetry was wonderful…fresh, healthy, flavorful and delicious!
Along with this Mexican “casserole” with peppers and cheese served with soft flour tortillas and salsa.
Zoetry these great docks with covered shelters. The one on the left can be used for yoga and can fit 25+ mats.
Of course I had to give it a test run! 😉
There was a little beach siesta before hitting up the daily tea time. We were presented with a selection of teas and some sweets.
And had some beautiful birds to entertain us while we had our tea. They loved saying, “hola!”
After tea we went to the spa and wellness center where we got in some cardio with a view, practiced yoga and enjoyed their thalassotherapy saltwater pool, hot tub, cold plunge and steam room. It was kind of awesome. We definitely packed as much into our time at Zoetry as possible.
Next post will be dinner at Zoetry. It was sooooo good!
Wow how beautiful! I am sorry the food wasn’t as great as you were hoping but the scenery sure looks like it made up for it!!
Oh my you are reminding me how badly I need a carribean vacation – and yoga retreat!
I’m so bummed the food wasn’t good. I visited Zoetry DR two years ago and it was the most amazing experience. I’ve never had food as fresh and delicious as what they served and the juices were devine there as well. I’ve been interested in this resort and the one in Cabo…maybe I’ll have to head to Cabo instead! Thank you for the review!
erica – the food at zoetry was AMAZING. we just went there for the day. the food at the resort where we stayed was yuck.
i’ve been to the zoetry in punta cana and agree that the food is great. it was as good if not better on our day trip to this zoetry! i 100% recommend you try this zoetry if you loved punta cana!
Looks great! But seems like an awfully small cage for that pretty bird 🙁
They are out all day and free to roam around the resort. They just put them in the cages in the evening!
Those drinks and yoga by the water sound perfect.
I want to come on this retreat…Will you keep me updated on all the details? I’ve never been on one before and have always wanted to cross this off my bucket list. Oh mojitos are simply delicious to sip on while at the beach…Sigh!
What an amazingly relaxing and beautiful getaway!!
Ah….we went to the DR Zoetry 3 years ago and loved it! Might have to check this one out – the food and the service was beyond amazing! Looking forward to hearing about the dinner there. 🙂
