Happy Friday!
Well, we didn’t actually take a train but look where we arrived shortly after midnight last night…
In Georgia at my grandmother’s house! Can you believe that she had open heart surgery just 10 DAYS ago? Doesn’t she look great!? Her recovery is going really well now that she’s home. She’s able to do most everything for herself other than lift anything over five pounds or drive anywhere (you can’t drive for 4-6 weeks after open heart surgery because if you were in an accident impact with the steering wheel could reopen the chest – yikes). It’s hard to believe but she said that she really doesn’t even have pain from the actual surgery. The majority of her discomfort is due to terrible bruising from all the needle sticks for tests, lines and IVs.
We got a late start on our road trip because I had to teach BodyPump after work. I was SO hungry by the time we got on the road that I was to the point of nausea.
Brandon suggested Chick-Fil-A and I didn’t complain one bit. I bolted in and ordered food as quickly as possible. I got the Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich combo (which comes on a wheat bun!) with a side salad and unsweet tea. It really hit the spot. I rarely eat fast food but Chick-Fil-A is my choice when I do.
I think I’m finally having a break in this crazy hunger because I had no appetite when I woke up this morning.
I had black coffee and a slice of Great Harvest Cinnamon Raisin Walnut toast (I brought this from Charlotte for my grandmother).
And then I dawdled for too long before heading out for my run and paid dearly. The high here is 98 degrees today and by the time I got on the road a little after 11 a.m. it was already 90 degrees.
And on top of the heat, it was one of those runs where I pretty much felt like my legs were going to give out at any second for the first mile. You know that feeling? It just felt really hard.
But then I rallied and finished the next three miles strong before getting back and collapsing in the grass. And no, Sullie did not run with me. She just came out to greet me. 90 degrees is much too hot for a furry golden retriever to run.
After I showered and cooled down I made lunch.
Another slice of the Great Harvest Cinnamon Raisin Walnut bread with peanut butter and honey and Greek yogurt with berries. I also had an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. I’m sure I’ll be snacking again soon.
I have to run out in a bit and get groceries for dinner while my grandmother is resting. I think I shall also get a pedicure! Sounds like a perfect relaxing treat for a Friday afternoon. 😛
Have a WONDERFUL weekend!
She does look AMAZING! I remember my dad not being able to drive and that drove him nuts (probably since he had to let my mom do the driving!).

So glad to hear your grandma is doing good. I bet she loves getting to spend time with you lately. Chick-fil-a is my fast food choice too. Hope you have a nice weeend in Georgia.
