Hello and happy end to Monday. I had a great day but I am so happy to be home and cooking dinner. I’m about to watch last night’s Game of Thrones and from what I’ve seen on Facebook and heard around the gym today…I’m in for a shocker! Can’t wait!!!
Just a few things to share from my Monday…
Unpictured breakfast was another smoothie. Cannot get enough lately. Spinach, berries, banana, almond milk, almond butter. So good. I drank it between taking a 6:30 a.m. yoga class and teaching a private yoga session. My practice was all kinds of bad this morning – body was lethargic – but I was just happy to be on my mat stretching and sweating. One of the things I love most about yoga is how in tune it makes you with your body. It’s so cool (and so frustrating at times) to feel the difference between “open and on” and “closed and tight.”
I ate an early lunch of a big cup of chicken, potato and poblano soup. It was so satisfying. Full of shredded chicken and the potatoes were pureed to give it a creaminess. I also shared some of my lunch dates sandwich and later in the afternoon I ate an apple with peanut butter.
I was completely shocked and thrilled when I got a message from Lululemon that they were bringing me the Contempo Jacket to product test. A short while later this jacket was delivered to me at the gym. I immediately put it on and wore it for the rest of the afternoon. More thoughts on it after I wear it more. Initial impression is great though!
Let’s get to my workout today. I programmed a nice full body circuit for me and a friend. I was in the mood to squat and lunge but wanted to get some core and upper body work in too. I’m not good at working different muscle groups on different days. I always prefer to do full body circuits.
Here’s the workout for you. It’s a good one! Just for reference, I held a 10# plate for the overhead walking lunges, did the push ups military style on my toes, kipped the pull ups, 7 front squats/13 back squats at 75# and the rest is pretty straight forward. Let me know if you have questions!
Post-workout recovery dinner was a feta and spinach salmon burger from Whole Foods along with roasted broccoli and zucchini and roasted red potatoes with tons of herbs, sea salt and topped with grated pecorino romano.
Couch + TV time!
lucky duck! i wish lulu sent me stuff to try. do you get to keep it?
i do. i was an ambassador for them for a year and a half so now i’m just on the research and development list. i don’t get things often so this was a huge treat!
Brace yourself for GoT! It was a rough episode!
omg. this is my reaction to that.
😯
good lord!
I enjoy full body circuit workouts as well. I will have to try this one this week! Looks awesome and challenging.
let me know what you think if you try it!
Love that jacket on you! I just got a Rejuvenate one a few weeks ago and it’s amazing! Can’t wait to hear your review of this one.
LOL! I was reading the part about your breakfast smoothie but looking at the picture of your soup. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why you had what looked like shredded chicken in your smoothie :p I am slowly but surely learning how to stretch. I am amazed at how much better I feel and less sore I am when I take the time to actually breathe and listen to my body 🙂
I did the same thing last night!! Ran in the morning, then worked very late, but rewarded myself with GoT
sounds like a great Monday. .. I wish Lulu brought me stuff to wear at work!! that is super cool that you get to check stuff out for them.
I can’t wait to try this workout!
yay! let me know how it goes!
LOVE this workout! I’m definitely going to incorporate some of these moves into my time at the gym today.
Your lulu outfits are to die for! I wish that store was my closet.
me too! i feel like they are constantly coming out with new and even cuter stuff. i try to really stick to basics though that i can wear over and over again.
LOVE overhead squats and haven’t done them in ages! I took a power hour hot Vinyasa class this afternoon and double pigeon never felt so good, but also showed how tight my hips are from running. Taking another class tomorrow AM to really stretch it out. I need to hit up Lulu for some new tops ASAP!
The jacket looks great on you! I’m super excited to head to Lulu tomorrow since I have a ton of gift cards to use up. I’ve been online stalking and it’s hard not to spend a fortune there. Thank gosh for gift cards.
That workout looks intense, love it.
And I’m super obsessed with smoothies these days too…although for Lunch or Dinner. Kind of odd I guess;)
they have so much great stuff right now! enjoy!
i can see wanting a smoothie for lunch or dinner when it’s warmer out.
YUM! I have been loving smoothies this week too 🙂 The almond butter addition sounds amazing!
i need the almond butter when i’m using the smoothie as a meal replacement because there are just not enough calories/fat to keep me satisfied without!
My body is so “off” and “closed” right now (hips in particular)…taking yoga tmrw morning for the first time in a couple weeks (gaspppp!) because of my schedule and I’m so excited 🙂
Love your shoes, Jen!! I’m looking for something new for xfit – what brand are your awesomely colorful ones in these pics??
Your website is so inspiring!! Love catching up with your workouts & eats!!
Great workout! 🙂
