This photo sums up how Sullie and I feel about Monday.
I woke up at 6 a.m. to another pounding headache on the right side of my head. I have had one every day since last week. I took it as a sign to skip my morning yoga class, took some ibuprofen and went back to sleep for another hour and a half. I went to see my chiropractor today to get adjusted because I think the headaches are coming from my neck. The only thing that seems to help is massaging my neck and taking ibuprofen. He said I had some weird stuff going on around my C1, adjusted me and put me on the TheraStim but I’m definitely still feeling it. I have never had headaches like this before so it’s a little disconcerting.
Enough whining! Let’s talk PIZZA! I picked up this goat cheese, sundried tomato and pesto pizza from Whole Foods last night for dinner.
I put together a big salad to go with it.
Sunday dinner perfection (+ 1 more slice and lots of hummus and pita chips). Pizza is one of my favorite comfort foods.
Breakfast today was unpictured greek yogurt, granola and fruit and lunch was a cup of vegetable soup, Pop Chips and tea. Afternoon snack was an apple and peanut butter.
I’m so lucky to have this face keeping me company at work today! I have been crazy productive trying to get as much done as possible before I leave for vacation. Just one more day until I’m on the beach! ๐
Hi there…I’ve never commented but I LOVE your blog and happenings you write about. Ouch about the headache! Some things to consider: need eyes checked?, dehydrated?, toothache?, taking new supplements?
I’m sorry about your headaches, those must be so frustrating since they seem to come out of no where. Hopefully your chiropractor can help!
Sullie is too adorable! What a wonderful work buddy ๐
Have you gotten an MRI? I was having headaches too and it turned out I had a herniated disc. Good luck, lady!
I’ve struggled with back pain for years. One thing I don’t do anymore is go to a chiropractor although I do think deep tissue massages are helpful. Another factor could be sinus/allergies/reaction to strong smell. Hope you feel better!
Headaches are the worst. This is random but whenI was about 25 I started getting migraines so terribly that I could barely stand. After countless tests/scans they figured out that my thyroid was slow…migraines have been cut by maybe 95% since. Maybe it’s worth the quick blood test! Hormones are always changing!! Hope it’s gone for you soon!
yikes! maybe talk to your doctor about your headache. it might be an aneurysm headache. not to freak you out or anything… but if it’s something you’ve never experienced before, it might not be the worst idea to check just to make sure. i hope you start feeling better soon!!
I second Dani’s suggestion about visiting a doctor to rule out an aneurysm.
I also don’t want to freak you out, but when I was 27, I had a headache that wouldn’t stop for over a week. I went to my general doctor and he thought I had TMJ and told me do try and relax (and do yoga!). Then a few weeks later, when the headaches wouldn’t stop, the right side of my body went numb and I finally went to the emergency room. Turns out a blood vessel in my brain had burst and I had a slow leak. The headaches were caused by my brain being squished by all the blood collecting in my head. I got very lucky that I didn’t die…the doctors couldn’t believe I was walking and talking! I had to have brain surgery the next day to drain the blood. I’m totally fine today, but what I’ve learned is that a headache for more than a few days is really not normal.
Sorry! Again, I don’t mean to scare you, but I always say it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your health.
Go to the doctor!!!! It’s lingering so it’s better safe than sorry!!
I am so jealous that you get to take Sullie to work with you. . . I would love it if Abby could hang out in my office all day!!
Please go see the doctor! As mentioned by the ladies above, I don’t want to scare you but there is a minute risk that it could be something very serious like an aneurysm. It could also be something totally minor like grinding your teeth at night if you’re stressed, etc. The only way to know is by seeing a physician (NOT a chiro)! Good luck and feel better soon!!!!
I love any pizza with goat cheese. Mmmm! Sullie is adorable and makes me miss my golden!
I’m sorry about your headaches. J told me he saw you yesterday though and said you looked really great and seem to be doing well! Hope to see you soon <3
Aw Sullie is so cute, I would love it if I could bring my pup to work with me. I miss him so much during the day. I’m so sorry about your headaches! I can relate, I have had a headache on and off for the last few days. For me it is a sinus headache, I have very bad allergies. I hope you find some relief soon!
I also started getting migraines last year shortly after I turned 30, and never had them before. I discovered that mine appeared to be linked to a combination of heat (it was 100+ degrees for many weeks here in DC), upping my workouts and not eating enough. What I usually do is take 4 advil to knock out the pain and just eat more than usual that day- that seems to usually take care of it. I haven’t had any in a few months, and they never last more than three or four days, so I agree that a doctor’s visit might not be the worst idea.
Great photos of the pup! ๐
So sorry bout your headaches – hope you get to feeling better -SOON!
I noticed the pop chips you had and was wondering have you ever tried “nut chips” ?
I hope your beach vaca involves visiting your mommy. Moms always make everything better! ๐
Jen, have you been working at a computer more than usual? As crazy as this sounds, I spend 16 hours/ day or so on a computer for work, and the position I get in while stressed (with my shoulders scrunched up a bit) ended up pinching a nerve in my shoulders/ neck, which caused headaches every day like you mention. It didn’t get better until I started going to physical therapy to strengthen some small muscles in my upper back, and now massage every once in a while still helps :). I hope it gets better – that’s so awful and uncomfortable!!!
I have a friend who swears by a trip to the chiro to help her headaches. I’m hoping that helped you, but if not, I REALLY hope you’ll go see your regular doctor. I noticed some comments above w/ the same sentiment so I won’t belabor the issue. Good luck! Hope you’re feeling better soon.
