Hello and happy Thursday!
It’s been a while since I’ve shared any Sullie shots on the blog and she’s been extra cute as always so here are two pictures I posted to Facebook and Instagram today. I have been obsessed with Instagram lately. I am also pretty obsessed with Sullie’s frog legs. The girl has loved to lay like this since she was a baby puppy.
It’s been business as usual over here…minus my workouts. I don’t know what’s going on with me but I’ve taken four complete rest days in the last 10 days. I mean, part of it was definitely due to having a cold but in general I’ve just needed a physical and mental break from everyday workouts. The workouts I have gotten in have been really quality (like the BEAR!) but in general I haven’t been motivated to run or keep up with my yoga practice the way I usually do. I’m not especially worried about it…it is what it is. I am sure that I’ll get back in my groove soon enough. Maybe it has something to do with adding early mornings back into my schedule and I’m going through an adjustment period? Who knows.
It should come as no surprise that nothing’s changed with my appetite. I can always eat! Grilled pork chop, grilled plantains and baked kale chips with cheese.
Lunches have centered around leftovers and salads. Carrot butternut ginger soup and a salad with spinach, chick peas, avocado, artichokes, pecans and goat cheese.
I was trying to talk myself into going to a yoga class last night when a friend texted and asked if I wanted to grab tapas and drinks at Good Food on Montford. YES was the answer to that. Mussels + wine + a great friend = middle of the week perfection. We shared mussels with green curry and coconut sauce (dipping bread in the broth is one of life’s greatest joys…I swear), gnocchi with mushrooms, chicken, arugula and parmesan and we each got the arugula salad with maple poached pears, hazlenuts, goat cheese and pear butter.
Annnnddd then we decided to order a second glass of wine and dessert. Apple cobbler with homemade rum raisin ice cream. I’m not sure that a random Wednesday night can get much better than this. I slept like a baby last night.
I had clients at 6 and 7:30 this morning. It’s been really great to have the opportunity to start my days early and doing something I love. I kind of got out of the groove with training for a while and only had a couple clients but I have been SO happy since I’ve added a few new clients. Everyone has been amazing to work with and it has been a huge reminder of why I do what I do and why I love it so much. While I enjoy my day-to-day responsibilities of managing the gym, my heart still loves to be out on the floor teaching, training and talking with everyone. I’m super lucky that I get to do both and call it my job. Pretty amazing.
If you could do any job in the world (BIG dreams here, even if you think it’s never gonna happen), what would it be? Something to think about, huh?
I’d open my own bakery and teach yoga!
One day…
I hope you are feeling better! I HATE colds and I double dislike zyrtec. Same with sudafed. Ick. I am doing an Ayurvedic cleanse this week and it wiped me out. Or more likely, it made me realize how tired I really am. All I have done this week is yoga. Nothing else. Sometimes a body just has to rest:) Your Wednesday sounds like FUN!!
lovvvve sullie!!!!!! so sweet!
Good you are taking some rest days – sometimes the body & mind just needs some rest, relaxation & healing!
I am an RN and in January moved to the Oncology ward – I love it! I think it’s my calling & I couldn’t be happier!
Oh I forgot. I would write and teach yoga. Which I already do. YAY! One of these days I will actually have to make MONEY (my kids are still home with me so I have that excuse) so who knows what will happen when they are in school … but for now I am living the dream!!!
That is a big question and feel like I have to come back later to respond, but I can honestly say that I am loving what I am doing now and want to keep doing it and inspire people that living a healthy and active lifestyle is fun, doable, and you can still enjoy wine and dessert. 😉
Love the Sullie ‘frog’! My pugs do the same and it’s so funny looking with their little ‘sack-of-flour’ bodies…but it’s a true sign of comfort and safety! Sweetest angels. I think rest is just as important ans getting your sweat on. Your body always tells ya what’s best. Feel well soon! Treat yourself well!
I am so glad to know that you have Instagram! I need more Sullie pictures in my life!
I think it’s so great that you can listen to your body and take rest days when you know that it’s needed. I struggle with accepting that my body needs rest and find it impossible to ever rest. Your blog really is such an inspiration!
Honestly, I already think I’m in my dream field – law, and after 1.5yrs of course work to get re-qualified to practice in Australia now all I need is for someone to hire me …. haha
i would be a running coach FULL TIME. right now, it’s PT. i’d love to be able to ditch the 9-5 to solely concentrate on coaching. i agree with you – teaching and training is so rewarding!
I would teach yoga on the beach at a resort on an Island somewhere!
Sullie is so beautiful! Really makes me want a golden 🙂
My dream job is to be a professional organizer. Perhaps someday!
My dog does the same thing! Frog legs ever since we adopted him!
Everyone needs a little rest now and then! You seem to be on the go all of the time, so I think it’s a great thing that you’ve been able to take a break this week– and enjoy yummy food! That homemade rum raisin ice cream looks delish!
I’d own a top of the line fitness center that had specialists like running coaches, experienced yogis, etc…
Any job in the world, I would run professionally. I’ve got the right mindset, dedication to training, and undying love of running, but I was born with zero natural talent. I’ve never been super fast, but I’ve gone from an 11 minute mile “PR” to being able to run a 1:44 half marathon. (It’s my dream that even if I never run professionally, I make it to the marathon Olympic trials.)
