Not sure what happened but as soon as I had Finn, I found myself wanting to wear sneakers all the time, even through that first hot summer when he was a newborn. They are just so comfortable, functional and dare I say…practical? (Really sounding like a mom now.)
I wear sneakers for travel, errand running, pediatrician appointments, grocery shopping, trips to the library, play dates, walks…the list goes on and on. I also appreciate them even MORE now that I am down a toenail on my left foot…haha.
(Also a big fan of hats…lifesaver for unwashed/unstyled hair and dark under eye circles.)
My closet is packed with an embarrassing number of sneakers of varying types…casual, running, training, etc. I honestly have so many more pairs of sneakers than I do casual or dress shoes/boots/sandals. For the record, one type of sneakers you will NOT find in my closet is the crazy expensive trendy ones like Golden Goose. Not judging anyone who does but I can’t justify dropping that kind of money on shoes, and I lean towards a shoe that I can wear out to run errands and then on the trail walking without having to change.
I get asked about my favorite shoes frequently so for this post I am doing a big round up of the shoes that I wear ALL the time. I 100% assure you that I have worn every pair featured here over and over again. You can tell because some of them look pretty beat up in the photo below!
MY FAVORITE SNEAKERS FOR #MOMLIFE
Top row, left to right:
- ADIDAS Pure Boost X – Ahhhh…I am so obsessed with this shoe and it’s now so hard to find. I was given these shoes when I presented at Wanderlust last year. I initially thought “yeah, right” with white shoes but they have become my absolute favorites. They are crazy comfortable and durable. I’ve washed them at least 10 times. The upper and toe box are soft and stretch and it has this cool arch feature that “hugs” your foot. They are different than any other sneaker I own and I just love them. I wear them for everything from teaching classes to casual around town. These seem similar, as do these (much more reasonably priced).
- ASICS GEL-DS Trainer 24 – I like these shoes for teaching group fitness/training. They are technically running shoes but I don’t prefer them for running. They are lightweight and I really like the mesh upper for comfort. The multicolor design is fun and matches a ton of different things.
- NIKE Flex Supreme TR5 Training – I need an all black pair of shoes for teaching and photoshoots so these fit the bill perfectly. They’re a cross training shoe and perfect for strength/gym/hiit workouts.
Second row, left to right:
- ASICS GT-2000 – I got these through a partnership with Zappos and I like them a lot for a more supportive running shoe option. I also wear them for many of our trail walks.
- Newton Fate – my FAVORITE running shoe of all time. Tons of details on why in this post.
- Reebok Flexagon – I got these shoes at the Reebok outlet and I can’t find the link to exact same shoes but these are close and I love the integration of violet in with the gray. I bought these shoes solely to have a gray casual shoe for everyday. I don’t workout in them.
Third row, left to right:
- Under Armour HOVR Sonic – I received these shoes from Under Armour a couple of years ago and I have worn them out! I can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve received on them. They’re also so versatile for everything from running to workout to travel to errand running. They’re not available through UA any longer but I think I’m going to take advantage of these good deals on Amazon and order some!
- Under Armour Street Precision Low Lux – I received these from Under Armour when I went on that awesome trip to Portland for Firsts Never Stop. These are fun, casual suede shoes and I always get asked about them when I wear them. Again, not available via UA any longer but you can find them on Amazon.
- Merrell Trail Glove Knit 4 – these were my first slip on sneakers in a very long time and boy are they comfortable. They’re also part of Merrell’s barefoot line, which offers minimalist trail running shoes with a zero-drop experience. Really, really like these shoes for trail walks and wearing around. I don’t run in them.
SNEAKY GIVEAWAY
My friend The Fitnessista is the queen of the sneaky giveaway so I’m jumping on her wagon today. In writing this post I had the sinking realization that I never announced a giveaway winner for my Newton Fate 5 giveaway BACK IN JUNE! Right after I announced the giveaway I had to put Sullie down and I think I just completely blanked on it. 🙁
SO…the winner of that giveaway was comment #131 Hillary. I have emailed her to let her know that she won!
And to make it up to you, I’m hosting a personal giveaway for a $50 Zappos gift card to go towards a new pair of kicks of your choosing!
If you want to enter, just leave a comment below telling me what your go-to casual shoes are and I’ll announce a winner on Monday! (If I don’t you have my permission to hound me about it!)
All gym shoes! Love my Mizuno Wave Riders for running and just hanging around.
Lately it’s just been classic Adidas 🙂
My go-to casual shoes aren’t sneakers … they’re Sperry Topsiders. But when I do reach for sneakers (for non-athletic purposes) its my Toms. I don’t love their quintessential “slipper” shoes but their sneaks are lightweight and so comfy!
I love the oldie but goodie Nike Frees with a no show sock. Classic!
Fun! I’m totally team sneakers as well. Although I have a corporate jobs so I also wear a lot of comfy flats. I never wear heels anymore but hold onto them for special events. I actually only have one pair of sneakers that I wear and they are my Mizuno running shoes. I love them so much. They are very comfy and light weight. I also have a pair of slip on Rothy’s sneakers that I wear at work when I wear jeans. They are comfy but not quite comfy enough for a longer stroller walk, though! But my Rothy’s are probably my go to casual shoe since they are cuter than my mint green Mizunos! But if I won the gift card I’d buy some more neutral casual shoes!
I love me some asics sneakers but my true obsession is with Jambu sandals. They look cute and professional and most importantly are very supportive at my massage therapist job and transition nicely to my dog walking gig if I don’t feel like changing my shoes/ lock my keys in my car and can’t access them… not that that has happened or anything. ?
Love my converse for lifting and lazy days, Brooks for long walks and short runs!
Love Brooks for running and for casual wear!
My go-to is the Reebok ever road dmx walking shoe! It is really cute, a good neutral shoe (I have it in grey), and extremely comfortable!
My go to shoe are Rothys! I love them.
My go to sneaker are brooks.
I’m really into All-Birds for daily wear. The all gray design matches everything and you can throw them in the washing machine when they get dirty.
I’m really into All-Birds for daily wear. The all gray design matches everything and you can throw them in the washing machine when they get dirty.
I love my STR/KE MVMNT shoes! They are super comfortable, great for travel, and for a work out.
I take solace knowing I’m not alone with more sneakers than any other kind of shoe (and I’m not even a mom yet – eek!). I just got a pair of Rothy’s slide on sneakers and I’m loving the look and comfort factor of them!
My go-to casual shoes are my grey Allbirds. So comfy!
My go-to casual shoes are TOMS. Crazy comfortable and usually pretty cute too!
I love the Brooks Glyercin for running, so when they become too worn for that, they turn into my walking shoes. They are so comfy.
My go-to shoes are Nikes…I love my black Free Runs!
My go to comfy shoes are slides! Not great for my feet but perfect for playing baseball in the yard with my three year old 🙂
I wear my black Adidas almost every day! #momlife
I have worn Asics forever but recently got a pair of Adidas to try out and have been pleasantly surprised with them. I’ve also been back and forth on trying UA but I think I’ll just have to give them a go. Can never have too many tennies!
My go to shoe for comfort is definitely my Asics sneakers for runs/walks but TOMS for casual everyday shoes!
My go to for casual wear (not working out) are definitely my All Birds. They’re super comfortable, and I can wear them with athletic wear and casual outfits – they totally work with either style. I also love that you can wear them without socks and can throw them in the wash if they’re dirty. A little pricey up front, but totally worth it!
I LOVE Nike pegasus!
Love my TOMS!
Love Zappos!
I live in Phoenix. My go-to casual shoes are flip-flops. 😉
Fun! I’ve been wearing the heck out of a pair of dark gray New Balance sneakers. I don’t wear them for running, but I do wear them for just about everything else. Also loving my soft, knit Saucony sneakers for when I don’t want to wear socks.
I’ve been wearing the Saucony Cohesion 10 for my everyday shoes… I love them!!
I love this post! I’ve been wearing adidas cloudfoam sneakers or sperrys for casual wear.
I love Brooks ghost 11 running shoes. The are so comfortable and are available in many fun colors.
My favorite shoe is the asics Kayano…I use them for running and then when they wear out I just wear them for everyday life. They are very supportive and comfortable!
I wear TOMS ALL the time! And the tan on my feet prove it. Ha!
Very timely post for me! I’ve been looking for some everyday “mom” sneakers. I’ve been considering some classic Adidas, but I also like the Reebok Flexagons in your post.
I just purchased a pair of Brooks Ghost 11 shoes and they are HEAVENLY.
I agree with you that I could live in sneakers– I also teach group fitness and love to run/ walk too!
I currently have New Balance but totally need to get a new pair and looking to try one of those Adidas or UA options!!
I have a pair of bright blue Brooks that I really love for doing things around the house, running errands and walking the dogs. Wearing supportive shoes makes a huge difference with plantar fasciitis!
Bensimon Tennis Elastique all the way!! They’re so comfy and cute!
When I’m not at the gym I live in my Birkenstock Arizonas!
Once I upgrade to a new pair of running shoes, my old ones turn into my everyday shoes. Works out perfectly.
I love my Nike Free trainers!
I have two pairs of Under Armour Recharge sneakers that I’m a big fan of! Those, Sperrys and Skechers Bobs are my go-tos.
I wear converse as my go to mom shoe, but I’ve been wanting to get a pair of Birkenstocks, so maybe winning this gift card would be the push to make that purchase. ??
I love my black and white checkered slip on Vans!
I love my black adidas!
I haven’t taken off my Nike training Flex for weeks…
Birkenstocks!
Birkenstocks are my go to!
I’m loving my sperry slip ons that have perforated holes. But I also love my Nike Frees
I’m a flip flop girl through and though but I just got a pair of Birkenstock’s that are crazy comfy.
I love Asics! I wear them as my running shoes and then everyday shoes after they wear out! I also love a good pair of Birkenstocks!
I wear sneakers all day at work (I work at a hospital) so I love nothing more than freeing my feet and wearing flip flops all weekend!
My go-to casual sneakers are Ecco high tops!
My Rainbow flip flops!
I typically “retire” my running shoes to become daily walking/errand sneakers. I love the Asics GT 2000s (have worn almost every version since high school!!!) and the Mizuno Wave Rider. I also love Altra shoes and sneakers for daily wear. I’m a believer that zero drop shoes can help strengthen feet…I just don’t particularly love running in them!
I have a comfy pair of Reebok’s and some slip on sandals that I alternate between! In the fall though, I love wearing tall boots with leggings to look put together without too much effort!
Just bought a pair of birkenstocks this summer and I’m in love ?
My go-to shoes are black Birkenstock’s in the summer and sneakers in the winter. I have way too many sneakers (also, I’m not a mom), but I think Nike Internationalist are my favorite casual sneaker and Adidas Ultraboost are my favorites for running.
Adidas cloudfoam sneakers – so comfy!!
Nike flex for me!
I need a new comfy go to pair. I normally grab a pair of slip ons but with summer ending i need socks!
Chacos all the way!
This post cracked me up, because the exact same thing has happened to me since becoming a mom. I have 3 kids now and pretty much every part of my day is a workout right now lol. I have a son Finn’s age and holy cow, I have to be ready to chase him! He’s fast!! For casual wear I use my old running shoes that have too many miles on them — Brooks Glycerins!
Definitely TOMS
Right now I wear my teva flip-flops. I wear saucony tennis shoes for working out and hiking. Can’t remember the model right now…all i know is they keep my super flat feet from pronating inward so I’ve worn the same type for probably 10yrs.
I’ve been into Birkenstocks lately.
For casual outings in the summer, I love my two strap Birkenstocks! I waited a long time to jump on the Birk bandwagon, but now I understand the hype. They’re super comfortable and easy! I also just ordered a pair of low rise Allbird sneakers and super excited to try them given that their marketed as the “most comfortable shoe”…hopefully they live up to the reputation!
I love a slip on sneaker!
I love sneakers too, just so comfy! Love my mizunos for running and Nike’s for casual wear!
I have slip on meds and love them. Need to order another pair so I have a spare
IGot a pair of Birkenstocks at the end of May and I swear I’ve worn them every single day this summer. So comfortable!
I am ALL ABOUT my brooks sneakers – my first pair of brooks and I’m totally obsessed. Currently wearing the launch 6 and so, so into them for runs, bootcamps, strength training and zipping around town.
I have been so bad lately about keeping
My gym shoes on all day-so I’d have to say my
Mizuno wave riders!
Either ASICS for walking/running or Birkenstocks if I want sandals.
Mizuno tennis shoes!
Love this! I’m a mom of two under two and wear sneakers all. day. long. I joke that my life is a workout (collectively 50+ lbs of adorable baby/toddler I’m carrying daily), thus I’m all about comfort. ?
Toms
My go-to shoes are my Rainbows – ha! I wear them as much as possible. I have a pair of New balance sneakers I’ve been loving lately too.
My feet like Hoka One One.
I love all birds! So comfy and pretty darn practical!
My nikes….I’m a mom of 3 so I need to keep up with everyone—especially my 18 month old son! I hope I win ?? as money is tight and I need new running shoes as mine are ancient (I think Christmas 2011 was when I got them ?).
I live in Texas so when I’m not working out or running, I wear a lot of flip flops ?
I’m a sandles girl. Wedge, platform, flat, etc. They go with jeans, shorts, skirts dresses, dress pants, even joggers (birkenstocks, yeah).
I have worn my brooks chair for running forever but loveeee New Balance for walking/momming
I love my new balance and brooks running shoes!
My go to casual shoes are my Dr. Scholls memory foam slip on shoes. I can dress them up or down and they are super comfortable!
Adidas sneakers or my teva flip flops!
My go to shoes are Anne Klein sport flats. They look dressy but have extra cushion.
I like to wear a pair of keen tennis shoes and a pair of Brooks pure flows for casual wear
I love vans!
I love my slip-on sneakers from Fabeletics! Super light and comfortable. I’m interested in trying the Newton Fate’s for running after reading your review!
My go-to mom shoes are ancient ASICS (more than a decade old!) so this post is so timely! I’m tempted to try out the Newtons for sure!
My everyday run around shoes are typically sandals but I love Brooks for running/athletic shoes.
My mizuno wave rider. So comfortable.
Thanks for all the great recommendations! My go to sneaks are the asics cumulous!
Birkenstock sandals and New Balance casual sneakers.
I love slipping on plain ol’ Converse slip ons!! They’re so easy and always seem to be “in style,” whatever that is in mom life ?
My most recently retired pair of running shoes lol
My everyday shoe is a pair of all black Under Armour sneakers! Love them.
Asics all the way! They fit my weird wide feet and last forever. I have a pair that I bought right after my son was born that I still wear sometimes. He’s seventeen!
My go-to casual shoes are Sperry sneakers. I have really flat feet and these shoes give me enough support for walking around the city without being in terrible pain by the end of the day!
Toms!!
I have 2:
1. Crocs Flip Flops (in summer, which you know lasts half the year in CLT). Right now I wear the Crocband flip but in previous summers I wore the cuter Croc sandals. Think they’re called Isabella?
2. Converse Chucks. Love these suckers. Right now I wear a pink pair.
#momshoelifeforever
Summer: Sanuk flip flops
Winter: Sperry topsiders
For years I have run in Brooks Ghost but just switched to Mizuno WaveKnit and love these! For comfort and this hot summer – Birkenstocks (Arizona) every day.
Love your posts!
Love the Nike Internationalist!
I have loved the comfort of sneakers my entire life! As an active older adult now, I find myself wearing sneakers even when I’m NOT teaching fitness classes! My current favs are Brooks Adrenaline 19. I had worn them for years when I was a avid runner but they began to alter the fit slightly over the years and I stopped wearing them. After a few years I tried them again and I am in LOVE again! Love my Brooks for teaching and everyday life!
My favorite causal shoe is the croc walu canvas loafer. They don’t look like the typical croc and they are comfortable to wear all day. They really add to skinny jeans.
Not tennis shoes, but either my Chaco or Keen sandals.
O my goshI absolutely love my Adidas ones too!! They are so amazing, I swear I will never wear another brand of tennis shoe! Thanks so much for sharing, such an informative post!

I looove my Brooks Revels in a great plum/gray color. They look great even when I’m not working out!
My go-to casual shoe right now is my Allbirds – so soft and lightweight!
I love the new Everlane sneakers.
I have been loving everything Adidas lately! So comfy and trendy!
My favorite running around town sneakers are new balance slip ons, but my favorite walking/running/hiking sneakers are Asics Gel Kayano.
Adidas Ultra Boost are my go-tos but I might give those Merrills that you suggested a whirl. They look comfy!!
My go to shows — ASICS Kayano (worn for running and working out) or a Birkenstock’s!! ??
I’m obsessed with Reebok Club C 85s. I have three pairs but my absolute fave are silver. I can walk for miles in them but also wear them with dresses for easy elevated daywear.
A cute pair of pink adidas sneakers!
I love jambous or J-41s. They have a heel and are super comfortable. Thank you!
I love Vans and Converse for casual non-running shoes. <3
I love my old-school looking silver gray new balance sneakers for a casual wear and my Mizuno’s for exercise
I love old school sauconys for mom life. So many fun colors! I recently walked miles around a football stadium in the heat to keep my kids entertained and they were so comfy.
I love my pink Adidas sneakers for workouts and everyday wear! 🙂
Honestly, if I could be barefoot all the time I would! Love my Birks for all time comfort, but Brooks are my go to casual, comfy sneaker – love the colors and patterns!
I live in my Brooks Glycerin running shoes. I gave birth to my first child 2 weeks ago so I am not back to running yet, but they are comfortable for walking and running errands.
All time favorite are Sanuk sneakers! Easy slip on, yoga mat bed, super comfy, can be worn anywhere and with anything! Sometimes I forget I’m wearing shoes!
I hate to admit it but my go-to shoes lately have been flip flops. The Florida humidity has lingered on and I just can’t bring myself to run in it this year. Sign of old age?
My absolute favorite tennis shoes are my Skechers. I swear it’s like walking on clouds.
I love the slip on On Could shoes—the slip on part is crucial for me!
Actually looking to purchase a new pair of Ascics as I have bunions!
Lately my go to shoes for just running around have been Asics.
I wear Mizuno Inspire everywhere!
I mix things up between ASICS, Nike and Keds.
It’s still hot in the South, so I’m living in flip flops when I’m not at work!
I love the Nike metcon shoes!
My favorite casual sneakers are Reebok skyscapes that I got years ago. They are so comfortable, but I am so sad that they don’t make them anymore.
My go to casual are my Nike Free RN Flyknit! I love them for running around brooklyn 🙂
I love my new balance lightweight tennis shoes but my go to are my Toms- so comfy!
Either Birkenstocks or Uggs, depending on the season. ?
Nike Free for life!
My go to casual shoes are actually Toms slide-ons. I wear my Brooks Glycerin’s on the daily BUT that’s usually to them gym so when I am not at the gym or going to/from the gym I am generally in my Toms. I also LIVE in my Birkenstock’s in the summer! I would love to get a new pair of non-workout sneakers before the fall/winter arrives! 🙂
I love New Balance 420 and Saucony Original Jazz Pro. I don’t work out in them, but they’re great for running around and they look cute!
I would totally agree with sneakers Love my Nike Frees
Right now my go-to everyday shoes are Chooka Paige sandals. It rains so often, that I’m always prepared.
Birkenstocks in the summer, and i like the slip on style casual tennis shoe in the colder months. I run in Brooks Glycerin 17’s and they are INSANELY comfortable!!
Birkenstocks Arizona in the summer, and Vejas sneakers the rest of the year. I’m trying to warm up to the Birkenstock Boston for fall but I don’t think I can pull off that level of normcore.
I love brooks Launch shoes for running and casual walks around my neighborhood!
I recently bought a pair of Cole Haan zerogrand sneakers, which are the comfiest ever!!
My go to causal sneakers are anything adidas which is a nice switch from my Brooks Glycerins that I run in.
I try to mix it up between my ASICS for working out and Sam Edelman for dressy events
In the summer I can’t do sneakers but I love wearing my tevas… not very stylish but comfortable. And great for that mom life 🙂 in the winter I love my nikes and for running Asics!
I definitely need to find my go to comfy shoe because the last few I’ve tried haven’t felt quite wide enough. I have had luck with brooks for running though, but for the day to day they are a little bulky. Thanks!
I love sneakers. Reebok Nanos and Brooks are my favorite for fitness. Love to wear Converse for kicking around.
My favorite everyday sneaker are AllBirds!!! So comfy, great for walking, machine washable, and tons of fun colors. Didn’t think they’d be worth the $95 but I now have 3 pairs.
Summer, birkenstocks
Fall/spring dr scholls slip ons
I love any of Toms slip on sneakers for errand running and playground time.
My go to “town shoe” is Nike (and I can’t remember the style name).
With it still being warm out, my go-to comfy shoes for errands and such are my birks and my tevas (with the chunky soles and Velcro straps—not very trendy but so supportive!)
I would love to buy a pair of comfy lightweight sneakers before our first baby arrives in December. I think they’d be great to wear around the house for good cushion/support.
Thanks for offering the giveaway!
Allbirds!!!
Either Toms slip-ons (the ones with a more substantial sole) or a pair of New Balances that I’ve had for too long. Thanks Jen!
My go-to shoes are Chacos or Birkenstocks.
I am actually in the market for a great new sneaker, so this was very helpful! As you know, I live in my flip flops even through the winter months. I’ve had a pair of trail runners from NorthFace I bought before they became so commercialized and I love them, but too heavy for running. Thanks for the info! <3
Flip flops are my go-to in the summer! I love Brooks adrenaline for running.
I love Asics Cumulus and Brooks Launchfor running. Always love Nike Frees for running around Lots of fun colors and prints!
Thank you!
I love Asics Cumulus and Brooks Launch for running. Always love Nike Frees for errands and running around Lots of fun colors and prints!
Thank you!
My go-to casual shoes are either these Teva sneakers I have or retired running shoes (lately Adidas Adios or Saucony Freedom). Running shoes and boots are pretty much all I wear.
I love to wear my all birds out; they are so comfy.
My go-to show has been a pretty beat-up pair of flats from Target. I am sooo in need of a new pair of shoes and would love to get some new sneaks! 🙂
My go-to casual shoes are the Rothy’s sneaker. I’m not much of a yoga pants for errands kind of person, so I’m usually in jeans, and I love that Rothy’s are comfortable, look great but are still a sneaker and I can chase after my kiddos.
For casual shoes I’m all about a sandal. Right now my favs are a $15 pair of sand and shore ones I got at Target! What would anybody do without Target?!
My fav is the Nike Flex Supreme you have in the pic!
Question for you: When I go on business trips, I mostly have to pack work shoes. To save space, I prefer to travel in the sneakers that I will use to exercise while I’m there (usually running and free weights). I also want them to be cute if I get free time to explore my destination. If you had to take just ONE pair on a trip, which would it be??
Frye Camille Perf. I own three different colors. I love them with skorts or pants. I also love that they don’t stink!!
When it is warm enough (I live in Canada so that certainly isn’t year-round) I often just slip on my Birkenstock sandals, easy to do with my hands full (which, let’s be honest, is always).
I’m a big fan of all flats and especially love my orange Toms!
The on clouds are awesome and totally slip on, great for every day
I love my brooks sneakers!
Adidas! Just kick around shoes, always keep me comfy 🙂
Either my Saucony Omnis or Birks for when I want my toes to breathe! 🙂
I love my New Balance 574s! They are comfortable and come in a ton of colors.
I love my Under Armours but I also love my No Bulls!!!!!!
I’ve grown really fond of Rothy’s, but in summer, I live in my Crocs jelly flats (they are seriously so comfortable and don’t look like Crocs, I swear!).
For casual shoes I love slip on sneakers or my gym shoes 🙂
my go to shoes are my retired running shoes:) i try to only keep two pair of shoes in my house. when i moved in with my now husband, he made me get rid of 8 pair of shoes. all the same brand. all different colors!
I am also a huge fan of the Adidas Pure Boost that I got a couple years back. I can’t find them anywhere now and none of the other Adidas I’ve tried come close to the comfort of those! Have you found them anywhere recently?
