Thursday was incredible. It was 75 degrees, breezy and the sun was shining and my day was full of things that I love to do.
After “sleeping in” until 7, I made overnight oats for breakfast. Quick oats, bananas, blueberries, apples, dried cranberries, chia seeds, plain Greek yogurt, almond milk and cinnamon. Topped with Almond butter and Crofter’s Superfruit Spread.
I spent the morning at Metro and had a few meetings. I was able to quickly run home around 1:30 for lunch. I made an open faced tempeh sandwich with honey mustard, spinach and a cheddar/gruyere blend. Apples, carrots and sweet potato tortilla chips on the side. I ate lunch outside for the first time in many months and it was so nice.
And then I got to practice yoga…in the sunshine! My client emailed and asked if we could find a place to practice outside for our session since it was so warm out. We met at the park and did an hour practice together. It was so awesome.
I came home after my yoga private and did some computer work and tackled a lot of laundry. Right before I had to leave to teach BodyPump, Sullie and I squeezed in a 2.5 mile run. Sorry, tried to get her to pose for the picture but she was having none of it. Clearly rolling in the leaves was better than getting her picture taken.
And then my day got EVEN better. I taught a fabulous BodyPump class with my favorite co-instructor, Andre, whose birthday is today. Happy Birthday Andre!!!!! (He reads the blog!) I always love teaching BodyPump but last nights class was just so much fun and I felt so strong. I think I could have gone up on all of my weights. It was such an incredible feeling. After class Andre and I were talking about how we almost get a “BodyPump high” during some classes. We’re nerds, I know! 😉
My final meal of the day was a quesadilla with the last of the beef stew that my parents sent home with me. I heated and shredded the beef and topped it with cheese, salsa and sour cream. A salad on the side with honey lime vinaigrette. I just whisked together lime juice, honey and olive oil.
Okay…the Friday to-do list is long. I’m heading over to Metro for some software training and then off to teach a yoga class. Enjoy the day!
I must find a body pump class to try out sometime. I want to feel the high!! I’m nerd, too 🙂
it’s SUCH a fun way to strength train.
Have a great day! Enjoy day 2 of our glorious weather!
the morning has been amazing but i think the rain is about to roll in. ;(
grateful to have just experienced what 75 degrees feels like again!
Your sandwiches always look so good! 🙂 Happy Friday!
Those Body Pump days are the best!! Your Thursday did look pretty perfect. Getting in some yoga in the amazing weather…jealous!!
Good food, good weather, and ideal workouts? Sounds fabulous. Having those amazing days always reminds you how great life it.
these truly are the days that make me feel alive and happy!
What a great, active day!
And so many outfit changes 🙂
oh the outfit changes…all day, every day. wednesday i put on makeup 4 times. ahhh!
I think you and Andre display perfectly how Body Pump can be beneficial to individuals with extremely diverse goals, depending on their other training and nutrition plans.
Andre, to me, has the ultimate ‘male’ body (i.e bulk and size, low body fat) whereas you have the long, lean, sculpted muscles of my ideal ‘female’ figure, also low body fat. You both look amazing and are such great examples to your clients. I really want to teach Body Pump, but I’m afraid the way I look would probably put people off doing the classes! All my own fault though – terrible eating habits.
xxx
we do have pretty opposite body types and look pretty crazy up there together but it is true that bodypump is can work for a wide range of people. we have so much fun teaching with watch other. get your certification! the experience is amazing.
WOW! Your eats look amazing!!
Love that you had some great weather to practice yoga outside!!
So glad you had a fun day. Sounds like my ideal day too:) I would need more chocolate though …
totally had a handful of dark chocolate chips after dinner! 🙂
It’s okay, I’ve had a bodypump high too. 🙂 nerd alert
What a perfect day Jen! I can totally relate to some body pump classes being incredible. Maybe it has something to do with the weather ;). When u make overnight oats the morning you eat them do u have to wait a certain amount of time?
when i make them in the morning i try to let them sit for about 30 minutes. they’re definitely better if they sit overnight but still delicious if you can’t get it done until the morning.
From the look of you two, you went hard in body pump!! I love that class!
I love Sullie in that pic! She’s so adorable!
Maybe this doesn’t apply today, but in general I think it’s really great how you can get starving hungry and you still make a really healthy open sandwich or salad or something. Amazing! If only I could be as disciplined. Was it something you had to teach yourself to do or does it not really bother you that you’re hungry and you value spending the time making something healthy?
Also, just wondering, how is Brandon these days? He’s been off the blog for months. I hope you guys are ok!
cath – thanks for the comment. i do get starving hungry and usually end up snacking a bit when i’m making my meals…usually it’s a bite of cheese, a handful of crackers or some carrots. i try to control it because i know the meal is coming soon! 🙂
we’re both staying super busy!
Sounds like a great day 🙂
Please share the beef stew recipe from your parents! It looks so good and now I’m dying to try it on a quesadilla. You always have the best meals!
oh – i will try to get it posted this week. it’s so good!
Jessica, thanks so much for your comments. I actually receive encouragement and motivation from Jen. Her energy is amazing (even when she says she tired)!! Her proficiency in group exercise motivates me to strive to become a better instructor. And yes, I second it…get your certification!!
Ahhhhh yoga in the sunshine!!! Makes me so excited for spring to read that!
Happy belated birthday to Andre! He looks like he totally sweated it out! You look great as always. It’s awesome to see someone love their job so much!
Thanks so much Marie…you’re too kind. Are you coming this Thursday night?
