I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday. It’s 34 degrees and raining here but it makes for a cozy, productive day. It was especially nice for teaching hot yoga this morning.
I made a new playlist for class.
And here is the Spotify link to follow. I am really trying to embrace Spotify to post playlists for you guys but they usually don’t have a few of the songs or remixes on my playlists. I downloaded some really great new stuff from This Song Is Sick this week and a few of the tracks weren’t on Spotify…and I have to share them with you. Here are the YouTube videos…
The Knocks – Dancing with Myself
Dance Cult – Anything Tonight
Vance Joy – Riptide (Kasbo Remix)
MS MR – Hurricane (Adventure Club Remix) – I LOVE THIS REMIX!
Okay, that was a lot of music talk! I know some of you probably aren’t as into music as I am but putting together new playlists regularly is pretty important when you teach 10 classes a week. I’m fanatical about making sure my students don’t hear the same thing over and over again. And it’s not one and done when I make the playlists…I have an old school iPod full of yoga playlists that I cycle through regularly. I have playlists going back three or four years…there are hundreds of them!
A quick look at the workouts…this week’s workouts were heavy on yoga and running since I was on a yoga retreat and traveling. I always default to running as a travel workout because it’s so easy to do anywhere.
Monday
AM and PM Power Yoga Practices + 3 mile run
Tuesday
PM Power Yoga Practice (I taught the AM) + 3 mile run + 200 air squats
Running in Mexico was INTENSE! The humidity was 75 percent or more and I could never make it out to run until around 11 a.m. so the sun was high. It’s crazy how much harder this three mile run felt than my normal three miler. I was heavily sweating and couldn’t keep a conversational pace. On this particular day I took a break at the halfway mark to do 100 air squats and did 100 more at the end. Despite the heat and humidity, I was grateful that I could leave the hotel and run around the island instead of being stuck in a small gym on the treadmill.
Wednesday
AM Yoga Practice + 45 minute beach walk
Last practice of the retreat…and I wish I could walk on this beach at sunset every night. So beautiful.
Thursday
Back in the gym…
15 x 2
Deadlifts (95#)
Double Unders
Back Squats (95#)
Burpees
Push Press (20# dumbbells)
Kettlebell Swings
*I did these super sets all the way through, two times through. On the first round I did 15 GHD sit ups between every set of exercises. On the second round I did supine toes to bar taps. I felt like JELLO after this workout after not lifting for a week while I was gone.
Friday
REST
Saturday
Hot Yoga
This was the hottest class I have taken in…years???…and it was amazing.
Sunday
I haven’t really decided yet but probably some combination of a treadmill run (given the weather) and strength or bodyweight circuit stuff. I’ll come back and update the post after I workout.
Something to think about to end the post…had to share this quote posted by Om Yoga (I teach there twice a week) this morning.
Hi! Is that sports bra Lululemon? I don’t recognize the type?
Glad you’re having a productive Sunday, I’m starting taxes.
yes but it’s old. it has a really fun back.
It’s rainy ere in Houston, but definitely not as cold, so it’s time to be productive. I tackled 8 miles on the treadmill; meal prep is in order; and going to attempt to do my taxes…HAHAHA! Stay warm and are you going to share that recipe for the bread you posted on IG? XOXO
omg…i can’t believe you did 8 on the treadmill. good job lady! and good luck on the taxes. it’s a nightmare for us! i plan on dumping all my w-2s on my accountants desk and letting him make sense of it all!
I love that quote at the end! So inspirational!
34 and raining really is the perfect weather for hot yoga.
Saw you from a distance at Superflow on Saturday – I was loving that heat, too!
it was so intense!
I teach spinning at my campus gym and I’m crazy about changing up my music. I don’t want people (or me) getting bored of songs, so I rotate playlists frequently.
you are a better teacher for it! keeping it fresh keeps them coming back!
I LOVE music and therefore love the music you’ve shared. Especially the MSMR remix. It was one of my favorites when it came out last year on AltNation.
Thank you for sharing.
yay! thanks for the feedback! glad you’re digging it!
Its cold and snowy in Canada but I did manage to get out and get some fresh air. Love the quote at the end, thanks for sharing!
