Happy New Year!
I’m currently watching the Rose Bowl and hoping my Dawgs pull out a win but gosh, it’s been a crazy game.
Our New Year’s weekend was a very low-key one.
Per usual, it included a lot of yoga. On Saturday I taught at 11:15 and then Dorie and I led a vision boarding workshop later that afternoon. I’ll be writing more about this in the next couple of days!
After the workshop, I went over to Tanner’s brother’s house for our final family Christmas with his dad and step-mom. I received this body pillow which is officially the best present ever. I’ve slept with it for two nights now and I’m a fan. It’s been seriously amazing for giving me more support in my hips and shoulders as I sleep on my side and I know that I’ll just love it more as the bump gets bigger.
I decided to try a body pillow first before going the Snoogle route (those things are just so big) and so far, so good with this pillow.
I had a frozen pizza at 10 p.m. after arriving home from our family festivities and then read in bed until 1 a.m. I am reading Shanghai Girls and so sucked in.
Tanner’s dad and step-mom stayed with us so I made everyone a brunch spread on Sunday morning (my fave thing to cook!). We had fruit, yogurt, granola, sourdough toast, bacon and the Fitnessista’s egg bake.
I’ve seen this recipe on Gina’s site for years and I am SO glad I finally tried it. It’s amazing! It’s a mix of eggs, cottage cheese, green chiles, cheese and some other goodness and it bakes up so fluffy and cheesy. It’s her grandmother’s recipe and I’m a big believer that grandmas know best. ๐
Yum, yum, yum.
After they left, I worked for a few hours to get communication to staff and clients about some January 1 changes we had going on at the studio and then I bundled up for my first run in two week.
It was 28 degrees and SO cold. Running in the cold is not my favorite but I really felt like running and I wanted to end the year with a run. ๐ I covered just over 4 miles.
Next stop was the studio to teach my final class of 2017 and the studio’s final class of 2017. I ran a report after class and in 2017 I taught 502 classes at Y2 to just over 17,000 clients! Pretty crazy. I also got to teach the first class of 2018 this morning!
Tanner texted me and asked if I was going to Whole Foods after class to which I responded, “No, I have no inspiration or desire to cook anything really.” My plan was Postmates and PJs.
The PJ part happened right away.
But Tanner took the initiative to stop by The Fresh Market for dinner stuff and came home with lobster tails, cauliflower, asparagus and mushrooms.
I butterflied the lobster tails and then made a quick sauce of dijon, lemon juice, parsley and garlic to go on top. I broiled them for about 7-8 minutes and then they were ready to go.
The final plate. I was very grateful that he got this food for us but man is pregnancy weird with the taste buds sometimes. I loved our dinner but the asparagus wasn’t doing anything for me and I don’t feel like I really enjoyed the lobster as much as I would have non-pregnant. So weird.
We were in bed by 10:30 but I read late again.
I taught two classes this morning and took one in between the two. I spent the rest of my day napping and working in bed (I’ve been working on edits to our teacher training manual) and then I took down Christmas, which was exhausting but amazing. Tanner was at work but I was determined to get that tree out of the house. You should have seen me knocking it over and dragging it out of the house to the curb. ๐
Ahh the game is in double overtime! EDITED: THEY WON! That game was NUTS! GOOOO DAWGS! We’re headed for our first National Championship since 1980!!!!!!!
Did you go out or stay in for NYE? What did you do?ย
Did you have a lazy or productive New Year’s Day?ย
Is your tree down?ย
Body pillows are a necessity in pregnancy and hard to give up postpartum:)
We just went to a friends house Going good New Years and actsullyvatayed up until midnight which we pretty much never do.
My New Yearโs Day tradition involves taking down the tree. But I stayed in pj all day. I only changed out of them to go to the gym. So it was a lazy productive day.
Looking forward to reading about the vision board project!
Speaking of typos….? lol
NYE was awesome. We had family over for movies and board games. My only regret is that we never did get around to drinking champagne. Apart from getting a workout in, we were totally lazy on NYD, since it’s was our last day off. Shanghai Girls looks good.
Your lobster looks amazing, and I don’t even eat lobster!
I didn’t go out on NYE. I spent the evening watching an old Hallmark show, Cedar Cove, with my mama. We had party food (turkey ranch bacon pinwheels, little smokies in chili sauce and jelly, chips and dips, veggies). It’s definitely my preferred way to spend the holiday. I don’t really care to get out on NYE and the temps have been really low here.
I helped my mama take down her Christmas village on New Years Day but we didn’t touch her trees yet. She loves Christmas and would probably keep up trees year round if she could!
Go Dawgs!!!!!!!!
That game was awesome, I watched it while visiting my nephews. College football is how we bond ๐ Can’t wait for the championship game!
