Happy New Year! I hope that you all had a wonderful New Year’s Eve and enjoyed your celebration whether it was quiet or crazy. Mine was somewhere in between. The night started with dinner with friends and family before heading over to another friend’s house for a party. I’m not really into the going out/club thing on New Year’s but I always love a good house party! 🙂
Dinner at stop number one was so delicious. Steak oscar, garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus and salad. Homemade dinners > than trying to fight crowds and go out on holidays.
I tried the whole shorts and tights look for the first time for my New Year’s Eve outfit. I wore it with back pumps and a black sweater with an open back. In hindsight I wish I would have worn a more fitted top but I did love the look and comfort of the shorts! They are French Connection and I got a great deal on them at Marshall’s.
With the girls.
Getting the blowers and hats out and ready for the champagne toast.
Group shot.
I can’t imagine a better way to welcome the new year. It was perfect.
How did you bring in 2014? Quiet, crazy or somewhere in between?
That steak looks delicious.
Happy new year Jen!
happy new year matt! xo
How fun! Happy New Year!
happy new year allison!
Looks like fun! My husband and I had a quiet New Years. For the first time in probably like 20 years I stayed in and fell asleep before midnight, and it was actually perfect! Glad you had a fun New Years!
i think that sounds pretty amazing! happy new year!
Happy New Year! I’m a big fan of the house party circuit instead of the bar/club scene – so much less drama and crowds. Better food and drinks too!
happy new year meghan! and TOTALLY agree on the food and drinks!
I was dead asleep by 9:00 PM last night. Hoping all this sleep will help me feel better in time for the weekend. 🙂 LOVE that outfit…Rock that open back top…Happy New Year! XOXO
We stayed in and enjoyed some quiet 🙂 It was nice! We had a blizzard here and between that and my hubby dealing with some pain – we decided a night at home was just what we needed!
i would stay in on NYE too if there was a blizzard! it’s already so dangerous to be out and driving! glad you had a cozy night.
How fun!!!! 🙂 I love the shorts and tights look on you, so cute! I have gone to some clubs for NYE in the past and while they are fun, I LOVED that this year I was able to head to bed early (I’m such a morning person it’s hard to stay up late!) while everyone was still partying! Happy New Year!
thanks girl! it’s always weird to try a trend for the first time. glad you had a fun night! still loving that PJ party idea!
Happy New Year, Jen! I’m with you – enjoy a little party and a few drinks, but avoid the cover charges, dangerous driving, and huge crowds! I know you’ll do wonderful things in 2014 and I can’t wait to follow along!
thank you so much megan! happy new year to you too!
Love reading your blog! Have wanted to ask: what recipe does your dad use for buttermilk biscuits?! Would love to know 🙂
hey anna – i was just talking to him and asked for you. he said the secret is to use white lily flour and really cold butter and to handle the dough as little as possible. he doesn’t even use his hands anymore but usually a spatula instead. he usually uses 2 cups self rising flour, 1/2 stick butter, 1/2-3/4 cup buttermilk. let me know if you have any other questions!
Thank you!!!
What a great way to start the new year!! I adore your blog. Thanks for inspiring!!
thanks so much courtney! happy new year to you too!
