Thursday already? This week has flown by! October already? This YEAR has flown by! Does anyone else feel like it’s gone in the blink of an eye? Just last night my grandmother reminded me that Thanksgiving and Christmas are just right around the corner. Ahhh!
The only way that I know how to describe what I’m doing for the last quarter of the year is by saying I’m “hunkering down.” Summer was all about yes and fun but the last few months of the year need to be focused and productive. I have a few things in the works.
- Pre-sale will begin this month for my book that will be released in March 2015! I am currently working on a video that will go along with the pre-sales! I just received the final draft of my book cover yesterday. You can see a little sneak peek in the photo above. It’s really happening!
- Speaking of books…I signed a contract for a second and it’s due December 1. The next two months will be all about writing and photography. This book will be a resource for “advancing your asana” with yoga arm balances, inversions and advanced pose variations.
- I’m speaking at the Health & Fitness Influencers Conference at the end of the month. Sign up and join me! Use code “JenD” for $20 off registration.
- Run Charlotte Run started as a short-term freelance project but has been so well received that it will continue to live on and evolve into something bigger and better. I am so grateful for this opportunity to get more involved with the Charlotte fitness community. It’s been pretty sweet to reclaim my “runner” status again! 🙂 Last night I covered the NoDa Brewing Run Club for “Pink Pint Night” to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
- PBR is getting a massive overhaul!!!!
Let’s expand on that last bullet point because I’m SO READY! After over a year of trying to make a blog redesign/relaunch happen…it’s finally happening. The road to finding the right match for the work was long and winding but I feel 100% good about where it all ended up. The new and improved PBR will be mobile friendly and responsive (no more of those ad problems and easier to read on mobile devices…which most of you read from!), cleaner, better organized and feature visual content organization. Get excited because I sure am. This is long overdue!
I’ll be back later with recent eats…and I’ll post a TOUGH workout on Friday that will get you sweating into your weekend. Have a great day!
Tell me what’s going on in your life right now that you’re excited about or proud of! I want to know what’s going on with y’all too. Let’s celebrate the good stuff! 🙂
How exciting!!! I love the preview of the new blog look and your book! I’m going to update mine soon, but it takes a lot more time than I have right now. I’m getting more involved in my makeup business and have a few opportunities in the works for freelancing that I’m SOO excited about and hope works out!
heather – gosh, i know. it takes a lot of bandwidth to get all the blog stuff together. luckily i had a really clear direction of what i wanted and let my team run with it from there!
congrats on your new opportunities! 🙂
Congrats on the 2nd book! You’re on roll. 🙂
And I look forward to seeing the new design – looks really pretty!
thank you so much parita! i can’t wait for a fresh and clean new look. it’s way past time for it to happen!
All good things! Can’t wait to see the blog redesign. It’s such a great feeling when you finally put it all into place and have a new and fresh design layout that you love. I worked hard on mine and when I finally hit it, I was in love…Yay to the books! I am still working on ebooks which talk more about healthy living in terms of divorce stuff but I can relate to the excitement and work that it is to write a book. Not easy!
hey meredith – i think ebooks are great these days. such an efficient/streamlined way to get info to people. and your topic sounds really relevant and interesting. i’d love to check it out!
Congrats to you! This week I’m proud that I finally gave yoga a shot. I am pretty terrible at it right now, and much larger than the other folks in the class, but determined to keep trying until I’m stronger and, eventually with more hard work, slimmer!
i am SO happy to read this! remember that everyone starts out as a beginner and the journey and seeing your growth is one of the best parts of the practice! transformation before your eyes!
Oh my gosh – the blog looks amazing!! What designer did you use!?
I have no clue how it is already October, but it is here and it it time to hunkering down and make it all happen. We seem to be going in the same direction, which is awesome. Here is to supporting friends and making those dreams come true! XOXO
Oh HEC yea!!! To all of it!!
muah! xo
So many exciting things! Can’t wait for all of it….and the yoga book!
Congratulations on the book! And on the new book too! That’s fantastic stuff! The peek at the new look for the blog looks wonderful–can’t wait to see it launch:)
I’ve been following your blog for a while now, and you happened to ask the “what are you proud of” question at just the right moment in my life…I did my first half marathon on Sunday, and I’m super psyched about it! I had followed a training plan, the weather was perfect, and I was having a “good running day”–it all combined for a great first half:)
Thanks for giving me an opportunity to wax poetic about it, lol;)
chris – first, thanks so much for the congrats…and for reading my blog and taking the time to comment.
second, CONGRATULATIONS on your first half marathon. i’m so very happy to hear that you had such a positive and good experience. hope there is more of that in the future for you! halfs are a really fun distance to train for and race!
Wow so excited for you ! I’m feeling really blah about my job and a bit of a job change that i thought i had made at my current company that is sorta turning into just more work on top of my old job, but i’m still
proud of myself for taking the risk and once it settles down i hope to be proud i lived through it ! 🙂
I’m going to just try to make it to the end of the year and enjoy some time off at christmas to hopefully recharge. Somehow i am with you…the end of the year needs to be focused on refocusing and recharging but somehow there are those holidays in there that totally stress me out ! my motto to get through it this year is gonna be just go with the flow. try to be present. hopefully it works !!!
tara – i LOVE reading your attitude about your job change. keep thinking like that and things will go the direction you want them to. you’re learning and growing right now!
love your end of year/holiday mantra too. <3
Love the preview of the cover! It looks very “clean”, which I love because too often book covers go over the top.
One thing I’m doing that I’m proud of is studying for my fitness certification! I had no idea how much work and studying went into this before I started, but it’s crazy how much you need to learn! But as hard as it is, I know it will be an endeavor that will pay off!
congratulations cassy! what certification are you getting?
How exciting that you already have a second book deal! You sure wear a lot of hats 🙂
And I’m super excited to see the changes on the blog!
i’m a through and through gemini…we’re the “jack of all trades.” 🙂
I’m so excited for your book & for a new workout tomorrow! Congratulations on all of the exciting things you have going on : ).
Ah so exciting about the conference! I wish I was in Maryland to go!
Oh Jen congrats! What great news both books and the Run Charlotte Run gig! I can’t wait to see the new blog. I’m a mobile reader most days so I’d love to see that change! I am training for a half marathon and will be hitting up your articles with the observer! Im excited to be close to my work deadline so I can get my life back! Lol
Congrats on all levels!
I can’t wait for the books to be released! I’m a fan of yours!
The new blog design looks clean and crisp! I like that.
I am over the top excited about my yoga class growth (I teach a 5:30 am class & I had 16 on Wed.) and the start of a mid afternoon class soon (by request)!!!
My studio also just started a green juice offering today and it was a HUGE success!
At almost 59 years young I only see growth and new adventures on my horizon!
Thank you for inspiring me!
pam…thanks so much for the kind and encouraging words and for all of your support. you are such a loyal and supportive reader and i SO appreciate it more than i can ever tell you.
16 in a 5:30 a.m. is AMAZING. how lucky those yogis are to have you starting their day on such an intentional and positive note by leading them through practice. it’s a gift to be able to give that to your students!
i LOVE your outlook, enthusiasm and willingness to keep growing.
xoxo
So excited for the mobile update! I always read on my phone!
Wow. So many exciting things. I am excited to watch them all come to fruition. I have a HUGE project I’ve bee working on that I should be able to announce on social media by next week. I’ve been so consumed with it that I’ve even let my blog go…for now.
send me the details when it launches!!!! good luck!
can’t wait to see the revamp! it looks great just from the sneak peek!
YAY!!!! So exciting!! 🙂 I love hearing about all the amazing things going on in your life!! I’m so happy for you, Jen!
thank you tara! i’ve loved reading all about your growth and life changes lately too! xo
