I will (hopefully, fingers crossed) be a second time marathoner! And hopefully not feel like this at the end…
I can hope, right? I’m sure I will be an emotional wreck. I mean, I teared up a couple of times today during my last long run while thinking about “this time next week…”
Final long run today!!!
9 miles in 1:20:25. I averaged an 8:56 pace. I felt really good during this run. No pain anywhere!
I will run two more times before the race – just easy three milers to get my legs moving and help me from going crazy.
I got home from my run at 2:15 and realized that I had to be at the Y in 45 minutes to teach Total Strength. Needless to say, I did not get adequate time in to stretch and recover and my legs were not really excited to squat and lunge. I survived but I’m sore and the foam roller is calling my name!
After class I went to Dick’s to pick up a few things for my race day ensemble. I’ll post a preview for you guys once I get it all laid out. Hint: I will be decked out in red and black hopefully in celebration of the Bulldogs having just pulled off a big win over Florida! ๐
Rewind.
Waffles for breakfast this morning.
I used an old recipe for Buttermilk Waffles but subbed out some of the flour for whole wheat and added ground flax. I topped half of mine with Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Butter and the other half with almond butter. Also Greek yogurt, a drizzle of syrup and raspberries. Delicious and so filling!
Dinner tonight was leftover chili.
Chicken Chili topped with sharp white cheddar, Greek yogurt and hot sauce. I had a salad and a piece of cornbread on the side.
And the grand finale of my day.
Apple Crisp topped with vanilla bean ice cream and carmel sauce.
I’m off to foam roll and sleep. I have BodyPump tomorrow morning and I’m teaching the new release (BodyPump 75) for the first time! I learned the shoulder track tonight and it seriously might be the hardest one ever. I can’t wait! ๐
Good luck! You’ll actually run right by my house during the marathon between mile 2 & 3! I’ll be out there cheering for all the participants.
You look so cute in your crying picture. Good luck next weekend!
Good Luck on the Marathon Jen! I know you will conquer that thing! ๐
Thank you so much!!! I sure hope I conquer it! ๐
You are so muscular! Have you always been very toned or is this something that has come with strength training? Anyways, you look fabulous!
Hi Danielle – I’ve always had a muscular build but I definitely didn’t get the tone that I have now until I started strength training. I think that teaching BodyPump and Total Strength classes a few times a week, coupled with all the yoga have really stepped it up!
