Emerging from packing madness for a quick check in. My upper back was so tense from working all night that I just had to roll around on the foam roller and give myself a mini massage. Love that thing.
A few hours ago the guest bedroom looked like this. I am a packing procrastinator. I always promise myself that I’m going to pack ahead of time but I’m always scrambling the night before to get it done. Sigh…learned that one from my mom.
But once I put my mind to it (go for it, get down and break a sweat – I’m up tooooooo late!) this happened…
Ta Da! There are two additions to my suitcase that Brandon is giving me grief over. First, the travel yoga mat. He insists that I should just use one of the resort’s mats. Ew, no chance. I fully intend on doing a few ashtanga practices on vacation. I have dreams of practicing while gazing out at the ocean. I can’t wait!
Second, this.
A jar of peanut butter. Brandon thinks it’s a little ridiculous but I honestly don’t think I can go seven days without eating nut butter. I have travel packs of almond butter for my purse too. Maybe I am losing it?
Am I the only packing procrastinator? Does anyone else pack food?
Wrapping it up with a few things that I ate today. Breakfast was a bowl of banana oatmeal topped with peanut butter. I didn’t take a picture since that’s a pretty boring breakfast that you’ve seen a million times.
Lunch was pimento cheese on Arnold Health Nut bread with lettuce and tomato.
I ran a quick three miles after work before teaching yoga. It was my last class for a week and a half. I don’t remember the last time I went that long without teaching…maybe never since I started teaching!
Dinner was leftover green coconut curry with tofu and veggies. Even better the second time around.
It’s midnight. I’m delirious. Bedtime.
Last day of work tomorrow!!! ๐
If you’re crazy then I am right there with you! I always have an emergency snack in my purse and certainly do not travel without a little something as backup in case I can’t find a healthy option during my travels. I would have done the same thing. ๐
i knew i could count on my blog friends to be on my side ๐
I’m usually a packing procrastinator too and I always end up forgetting something! When I went to Vegas, I forgot my sunglasses. Oops!
I bring food with me on trips. Haven’t done nut butter yet, but I can see why not having for a week would be hard! ๐
Hehe last time I was up packing at 4am when I had to leave at 5! Packing procrastinating is my thing! ๐
And I TOTALLY pack nut butter too!! It’s what all the smart people do! ๐
emma – i totally thought about your post about everything you were packing for your last trip when i was packing my peanut butter! ๐
So I pack for a living and I always procrastinate. (It might help that I am always half packed though… flight attendant here!) hehe.
And I wish more people came on board with snacks in their purse. We have a LOT of free snacks on our planes but we might be missing something you want!
Have fun on vacation. I think doing yoga by the ocean sounds amazing!!!
I always think I’ll pack early, but it just never happens!
We rent a beach house every summer, and I always pack the foods I’m particular about. I like having my favorites around, too.
Have fun at the beach! Yoga oceanside sounds wonderful.
I noticed you are packing Larabars & often eat them as an afternoon snack. I am a slave to calorie counting & they seem to be higher in calories & fat compared to the other bars, plus the amount of protein isn’t substantial. Just want to know your thoughts on how you view “bar” stats.
hi jess – in general i’m not a huge fan of bars…i think it’s better to eat “real food” snacks. BUT that said,, they are incredibly easy for me to keep on hand for afternoon snacks.
the reason i like larabars is that the ingredient list is so short and they are calorie dense. they work really well for me to eat late in the afternoon to hold me over without sitting heavy in my stomach through teaching/workouts until our late dinners.
i find that i need a 200 + calorie snack in the afternoons due to my activity level. i don’t count calories but i an see that larabars might be a tough snack to justify if you do.
just my two cents!
I never pack food because I am paranoid about what I can pack and not pack at the airport! I am terrified of being stripped down for a search. I have only flown 3x so I guess I do not feel very up to date on what is allowed or not allowed ๐
i dare them to try to take my peanut butter!!! haha ๐
I also procrastinate packing. I couldn’t help but notice your straw hat, I’ve been looking for one like that. Where did you find it? I love that it is not overly large. Have a great trip.
allison – i got the hat in college…i think at an outlet mall when i was at the beach. i can’t even remember where!
hats are a must for me in strong sun. my nose gets so red! ๐
Oh man, I always pack peanut butter and bars – usually of the Lara or Odwalla persuasion – when I travel. Also a big fan of packets of plain oatmeal and sometimes I’ll portion out brown rice protein into little snack baggies to add to oats or yogurt. Nice call on the Trader Joe’s PB – one of my personal faves ๐ Obsessed? Perhaps. Ok with that? Definitely.
Have an amazing time! I pack food all the time and way too many pairs of Nike tempo shorts!
i packed no less than five pairs of tempos! ๐
2 quick notes:
1) Make sure to pack your nut butters in your suitcase. I’ve made this mistake and unless it’s under the 3oz rule, they will take it from you at security. I lost 2 perfectly, brand new jars on my last trip ๐
2) The yoga studio is pretty standard for a resort. It IS inside though..the gym portion is open air. However, depending on your room, the patios are rather large, so you might be able to put your mat down and at least listen to the sounds of the ocean.
HAVE A BLAST!!! The resort is wonderful and I hope the two of you enjoy it as much as we did!!
amanda – i did pack the big jar in my suitcase. i have mini packets for my purse. addict! ๐
i probably won’t attend any classes. will most likely just self-practice. more meditative that way!
how was charlotte!? did you have a good trip?
I always take nut butter(s), bananas, and apples if I am going somewhere overnight. Can’t risk it!
Have SO much fun on your trip–can’t wait to see pictures!
I am terrible at packing! I want to take EVERYTHING in case I change my mind. Have so much fun on your trip!
I don’t have any patience to fold everything neatly… I try ๐ have an amazing trip! yoga + the ocean = sounds amazing.
You are my packing twin. I do the exact same thing. I hope you have such a wonderful time on your vacation. I’m looking forward to seeing photos! ๐
I always pack almond butter packs in my purse and on vacation- I think it’s smart! Husbands just don’t understand ๐
Have a fabulous time!!!
haha- I Love that you packed nut butter. This is something I (along with like every other blogger) would do :)! Have SO much fun!
