I have a driveway-friendly workout for you today that only uses one dumbbell. You could also totally make it work with bodyweight only if you need a workout that you can do anywhere.
Here are the details!
ONE DUMBBELL DRIVEWAY WORKOUT
There are 6 movements that you’ll go through for a total of 3 rounds. It’s a descending rep scheme so you’ll do 20 reps of each movement in round 1, 15 reps in round 2 and 10 reps in round 3.
VIDEO WITH MOVEMENT DEMONSTRATIONS
Here’s a video that shows demonstrations of each of the six movements.
WORKOUT MODIFICATIONS
- If you don’t have a dumbbell, modify to bodyweight. You can use a water bottle or something similar for the rotational jump squats and just lose the dumbbell for the sit ups and weighted toe taps.
- If you don’t want to jump, modify the squats to bodyweight squats or a goblet squat with the dumbbell. Modify the pulse jump lunges to alternating back stepping lunges OR static pulsing lunges. Modify the burpee to a step back to plank and step up to stand instead of a jump. Push up optional!
Let me know if you have any questions!
And now for a few updates from the week and a few new faves.
FITNESS + SHOES FOR FIGHTING FOOT PAIN
While we’re on the topic of fitness, it was another busy week of training at Metro and I’m in the process of possibly onboarding another client or two. Tuesday was my marathon day this week and I had five sessions in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Let’s also talk about the shoes that I’m wearing in this photo. They are the KURU Atom and are designed for fighting foot pain. The timing of receiving these shoes from KURU couldn’t be better because I’ve had this weird intermittent pain under the big toe ball mound of my left foot for a few months now. While I haven’t worked out my KURU’s, I’ve been wearing them for walking around and training clients and can definitely tell a difference in how my foot is feeling.
The shoes have built in orthotics and are ultra-supportive and comfortable. They also have incredible arch support and a patented solution to heel pain called KURUSOLE. The responsive technology dynamically flexes with each step to hug and protect heels. KURU shoes an especially great choice for anyone struggling with plantar fasciitis.
I also have the Koda Muse sandal but I haven’t worn them yet! Will report back. If you struggle with foot pain or just need a shoe that is comfortable for standing/walking a lot – definitely check out what KURU offers.
SKINCARE
I went straight from my morning of training sessions to Carolina Facial Plastics where I had a Virtue RF Microneedling session with Terri. This was the first in a series of three treatments and I’ll be writing a full blog post about it soon! I haven’t had microneedling done since my vampire facials with PRP back in 2020 so I was long overdue!
I also owe you an updated skincare post. Terri just refreshed my skincare routine and I am OBSESSED with it. I will aim to have that done in the next week or so!
JUICING AGAIN!
We are juicing again over here! I used to really enjoy juicing but somehow fell out of the habit and then gave my juicer away to a friend in my last move. I recently got a new juicer from Hurom and this thing is AMAZING! I’ll write a full blog post with a review but it’s so easy to use and clean, and the juice is delicious. Finn loves to help! (Full disclosure: he has not tried the green juice but in all fairness, he doesn’t drink any kind of juice.)
MOM LIFE
Finn’s preschool year is winding down with all sorts of fun themed-days and activities. This week they had bike day and it was so sweet to see all of the colorful bikes lined up. Finn’s not much on his bike but loves his scooter so that’s what he brought.
That does it for me today! Finn and I are off to enjoy our Saturday. We’re having a whole weekend of pre-birthday celebration so I’ll have a recap for you on the other side of it. 🙂
