Good morning and happy Wednesday! Hope you guys are having a great week. I’m writing this post on a break between personal training clients. I started at 6a this morning and can confidently say that I’m finally back in the groove of 5a wake up calls. It took a couple of months to get used to this routine again (it’s been a lonnnnggg time since I consistently taught or trained in the pre-dawn hours) but I am LOVING IT! It’s such a great feeling to pick Finn up from preschool at 1p on Wednesdays with almost a whole day’s worth of work already done. He’s with his dad on Monday and Tuesday nights so I’m always ready for a “Finn + Mommy afternoon” (what he calls it) when I pick him up.
WACKY TACKY
Speaking of the little guy…it’s spirit week at preschool this week. I sent him off Monday morning in a wacky tacky getup. He thought it was so funny to wear shorts over his pants and a clashing dinosaur Christmas shirt in March. Tomorrow is favorite color day so that should be easy – although Finn always tells me his favorite colors are black, brown, white, pink, grey and rainbow so we’ll see where that goes. Haha.
Here’s a look at the lunch I packed Finn for preschool on Monday. It’s usually a random assortment of things we have in the fridge/pantry and I have this problem where I can’t leave a single compartment of the Bentgo empty. I am who I am.
This is honey wheat bread cut into squares, cheese squares, a homemade chocolate chip cookie, leftover bacon from Saturday’s pancake breakfast, mac and cheese left over from Sunday dinner (I taped a fork to the lunchbox), strawberries and pizza flavored Pringles. Finn picked those out at the grocery on Sunday and I gotta say that I don’t hate them. He doesn’t do sandwiches so I usually serve them up in a more deconstructed way.
GYM BUDDY
DSG Aspire Sports Bra – on major sale right now!
OBSESSED with these lululemon workout leggings
I took Finn to the gym with me on Sunday and he is just the best little workout buddy. It’s so fun to see him copy the movements that I’m doing and we always finish the workout with “races” on the turf. He made me run no fewer than 25 wind sprints and it was quite the way to end the workout.
Saucony Endorphin Speed Pro 2 shoes
Speaking of workouts, I did a run on Monday after I got home from teaching yoga because it was the only window in the day that I could fit it in and I was really craving a run. It’s so rare for me to run at that time of day these days. Evening workouts used to be my jam but I now prefer to workout before noon. I love a walk or yoga practice in the evenings but much prefer to run or lift in the morning hours – midmorning, before lunch is my sweet spot. I’m fed, caffeinated and my energy is flowing.
COZY BENJI
A random but sweet photo of Benji. He loves this dog cot and lounges on it all the time. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Zoey on it but Benji is all about it.
LITTLE JOYS
It was time to update the background picture on my lock screen. I usually do a recent cute photo of Finn but for whatever reason I went with a baby photo yesterday. It’s bringing me so much joy every time I look at my phone.
And finally (I know I’ve been all over the place today), here are a few readings/quotes that I have found to be helpful/uplifting recently.
I asked what someone should do when they’re searching for rainbows, but all they see are clouds.
“What I know is that it’s going to be better,” she said. “If it’s bad, it might get worse, but I know that it’s going to be better. And you have to know that. There’s a country song out now, which I wish I’d written, that says, ‘Every storm runs out of rain.’ I’d make a sign of that if I were you. Put that on your writing pad. No matter how dull and seemingly unpromising life is right now, it’s going to change. It’s going to be better. But you have to keep working.”

I adore Yung Pueblo’s writing. I follow him on Instagram and have bought some of his books.
I have already shared this quote on my blog but I keep coming back to them over and over. I have talked about overthinking in some of my yoga classes this week. Two things specifically…
- How overthinking and indecision take us out of the present moment and steal the opportunity to be fully available for what’s happening right in front of us.
- How the practice helps us get out of our thinking minds and into our bodies so we can make decisions more from the wisdom body than the monkey mind.
And with that, I’ll bid y’all farewell. Sending love and hugs.
