Happy first day of fall. I am here for it feeling full of gratitude for the change of seasons and the incredible weather that we are being spoiled with. I have been sitting outside working for three hours and I plan to eat dinner outside tonight too.
It’s 70 degrees and 46% humidity the sky is Carolina blue. I’m feeling especially happy about this weather stuff because last year on September 30 it was 98 degrees in Charlotte. I remember going explore Optimist Hall with Finn on a Friday afternoon because I was trying to find an indoor activity because it was so crazy hot. Now, that’s not to say that it couldn’t be back in the 90s in the blink of an eye…because that’s how we roll in the south…but let’s hope those days are behind us!
We’ve had mornings in the 40s for the last few days so Finn has been rocking his fall apparel. Related, he desperately needed a new pair of shoes and picked out these little Sperry’s 100% on his own. 🙂 If you’re local to Charlotte, we love Kixx.
Finn is holding a chocolate chip cookie in that photo. We baked chocolate chip cookies and pumpkin apple bread on Sunday.
I enjoyed my first 55 degree, low-humidity run of the season on Monday morning and it felt incredible. It always blows my mind how much easier running feels in lower humidity. I ran about 3.5 miles at a pace I hadn’t seen in ages! Also, it’s funny to see how runners dress so differently when the weather starts to change. I was out there in shorts and a tank and passed another runner in tights, long sleeves and gloves! I actually walked out in a long-sleeved shirt and reminded myself of the whole “dress like it’s 20 degrees warmer” thing and decided to leave it at home. I’m glad I did.
The dogs have been loving the cooler weather too, especially Zoey! She’s been doing a lot of sunbathing.
We spent so much time outside last weekend. There is a great playground within easy walking distance of the new house and Finn loves it. He’s doing so much more climbing these days which is fun to watch.
And that’s all I have for you on this first day of fall. Just wanted to say hi and check in with some photos of the crew.

Happy Friday! My exciting news is that fall weather has finally arrived in North Carolina and it’s making all of my running dreams come true. After four months of running through hot temps and high humidity, I want to cry over how light, crisp and cool the air feels. It’s unbelievable the difference it makes [...]

Hi friends – the last 10 days in North Carolina have been hard and sad as our state has navigated the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. It’s been heartbreaking to watch our Western North Carolina neighbors face truly unimaginable devastation and loss. It’s also been disheartening to witness the amount of divisive political rhetoric that is [...]

What a wild, crazy and heartbreaking few days it’s been in North Carolina. Hurricane Helene brought high winds, heavy rains and record historic floods to our state. While we are mostly okay in Charlotte with the exception of downed trees and multi-day power outages, our neighbors to the west did not fare well at all. [...]

I have never really been the type to wear matching workout sets…until recently! The last couple of years I have gotten into the matching set trend. I like feeling more put together at the gym – especially since I have gone back to personal training and spend so much time at the gym with my [...]

TGIF! I’ve got a big round up of meals for today’s post. I’m diving into my current vanilla yogurt obsession, sharing lots of delicious salad combos (per usual) and you’ll see a whole lot of sweet potatoes in my dinners. Not sure why I’ve been eating so many of them but yum! Maybe all the [...]

Happy weekend! We are enjoying a cozy and lazy Sunday morning after staying up past our bedtimes to watch Georgia eke out an ugly win over Kentucky. Let’s hope we’ve gotten that out of our system because we have some hard opponents ahead of us and all on the road – Alabama, Texas and Tennessee! [...]

Happy new week! I am in recovery mode after an active (and amazing!) weekend that included a 15 mile long run on Saturday and a 14 mile hike on Sunday. I spent a lot of QT with the foam roller this morning and also did a bit of yoga after I taught today. Overall, my [...]
