It’s Sunday night at 8:30p and I’m finally sitting down on the couch to relax with my feet up watching Gilmore Girls. I am so tired even though I haven’t left my house other than to go to the grocery store or pick up Finn in over 10 days. It seems that a stop to my normal routine would feel like a break/rest but I am feeling physically and emotionally wiped out.
I am physically tired from all the classes and workouts that I have been filming as well as a weekend of doing tons of work around the house and keeping up with Finn, Zoey and Benji. I have joked that I haven’t worked out this much since long before Finn was born. And Finn is at an age right now that is fun, intense and non-stop!
I have also been tackling alllllll the home projects including pressure washing anything that can be pressure washed, cleaning out my fridge and freezers, a complete pantry overhaul, a shed clean out, planting herbs and tomatoes, shampooing carpets and upholstery and much more. It’s amazing how much joy/peace/accomplishment these tasks bring me.
I am emotionally tired from processing and navigating…everything.
The best news that I have to share with you in this post is that Virginia and Stella moved in over the weekend. They will be spending the duration of the stay at home orders with us. I am an introvert and have lived by myself for the last two years (with Finn and the dogs of course) with no problem. I thought that staying at home and social distancing would be easy for me but I quickly came to realize (and appreciate) how much I get from my daily interactions with others through my teaching and work outside of the house as well as routine errands and life stuff. I have been feeling isolated and lonely being out of that routine and not being able to see my family and friends heightened those feelings.
Virginia was also in a bit of a stuck place so we decided to make our way through this together. I am beyond grateful for her energy and presence…and Finn is kind of obsessed with Stella. 🙂
This is the only photo that I took of him over the weekend because it was rare that he slowed down long enough for me to take a breath and take his photo, haha! I snapped this one this morning when he was just lounging on the living room floor and listening to Pinkfong Animal Songs. He loves to tell Alexa, “Exa…play baby shark doo doo.” It’s so sweet.
I caught Zoey and Benji having this moment over the weekend. Everyone is very bonded at this point. Benji to me, Finn to Benji, Benji to Zoey. It hasn’t been without its growing pains but we have navigated them as best we can and I’m happy with where we all are just a little over a month in.
Finally, I baked myself a cake tonight. It’s Ina’s Lemon Yogurt Cake and it’s one of my favorite easy baking recipes. I haven’t glazed it yet but plan to do that and cut a slice as soon as I hit publish on this post.
