I knew when I decided to commit to teacher training that my life was going to get even busier than it was before. I can honestly say that I have felt relatively in control of everything and still able to maintain my normal routine through the past two and a half months of training.ย So why is it that now that I’m in the final stretch things are starting to fall apart a bit?
I am tired. My house needs serious attention. Sullie needs a bath. I haven’t been home (and awake) for longer than two hour in four days. I have two letters that I wrote a week ago and still haven’t mailed because I haven’t made it to the post office yet.
That’s a lot of whining, huh? I just want you all to know that I am not superwoman. I am definitely at capacity and in serious need of a break. But despite the craziness and utter exhaustion, I am still filled with nothing but joy and gratitude for the place where I am in my life right now.
It just so happens that my blog is being moved to a new server late tomorrow evening (Tuesday) so I’m going to take tomorrow off to attempt to get my life together a little bit. How do you all deal when your life feels like it’s at capacity?
But guess what? I have something to look forward to. The countdown is officially ON for vacation! Less than two months until we are in…
Negril, Jamaica!!! We booked our trip today with the assistance of Heather, a reader who just happens to be a travel agent and offered to help us with our search. She was a great sounding board since we were really all over the place, to say the least. With her assistance we were able to book a seven-night trip and stay in budget. To say we are excited about our vacation would be an understatement! ๐
Quick glimpse at some of today’s eats.
Lunch: avocado, tomato and muenster cheese on Great Harvest Dakota with apple slices and plain 2% Greek yogurt topped with granola.
Snack: green tea kombucha and a Carrot Cake Larabar.
My sweet sister in law called around lunch today and invited us over for dinner. I haven’t seen her in months so I couldn’t turn down the offer. She and my brother in law had prepared quite a Monday night feast. I piled my plate high with the side items (this + more brussels sprouts).
Light’s out. Remember, the blog will be down tomorrow night sometime between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. so I will be back at ya on hump day.
Yeah for your vacation!!! I can tell that you are just aching for some time to relax. I hope you have a great time! ๐
I run on that kind of “what’s happened to my LIFE?!?” desperation for months at a time… and it’s NASTY! That you keep on getting up and sticking to your fitness regimen amazes me, because that’s always the first thing I let go. Well, maybe house cleaning is. ๐ I draw the line at hygiene, though I have definitely left the house as a hot mess on more than one occasion. I have no silver lining for this story except to say, “courage, mon brave!” I’m in the boat with you! Relax for a spell and I’ll row…
Plus: countdowns are the best! Go, Jamaica!
Well I think you’re AMAZING!! I’ve always been so inpspired by your balance in life, and how happy and at peace you are despite your crazy-busy schedule! ๐
And you are so LUCKY!! Jamaica looks AMAZING!! ๐
You are strong and so dedicated to the many things that you do. It is okay to feel a little overwhelmed and need a break sometimes. It’s so great that you are able to recognize that and step back before you reach a point of total exhaustion or unhappiness.
I’ve been to Jamaica before and you will love it. Nothing but rest and relaxation, which sounds like you need it!
Thanks Kristy! We’ve been once before but to the other side of Jamaica near Ochos Rios when we were in college. We’re looking forward to hitting up the Negril area. I’ve heard the beaches are amazing!
7 nights in Jamaica?! That sounds heavenly. At least having that coming up soon should help make the craziness more manageable… good luck! ๐
Vacation countdowns always have a way of making the craziness more manageable, don’t they? Have fun!
Yes – iGoogle has a really cool “countdown” application that you can add to your page and I think I’m going to have to start a vacation countdown!
I went to Jamaica when I was in fifth grade and still have pretty vivid memories of that trip! That’ll be awesome Jen!
You are going to LOVE Negril! Jake and I just went there last summer and it met all my expectations plus MORE! Are you staying at an All-Inclusive? We spent a week @ Couples Swept Away and are (hopefully) planning another trip back this summer before he leaves again! Just think…in 2 MONTHS you’ll have your toes in the sand, sun in your face, and a drink in your hand ๐
I e-mailed you! ๐
great news that you booked a vacay! you are ahead of us. i’d love to know where in negril that was within budget. good for y’all! have a blast!
kat – i will email you tonight!!!
Yaay =)
This put a smile on my face this morning…I’m so excited for you two! Heck and jealous!;)
Hope you get some down time tonight.
when life is at its capacity, I think its time to empty it out by giving some time to others. Whether it be with friends, family, etc. Easier said than done, but I know you are so good at that balance. Love your picture on the beach, just beautiful!
