Today is a big day for Peanut Butter Runner. One year ago I launched this healthy living blog!
I thought it would be fun to recap some of the highlights of the year and I’ve included a little video at the end of this post with some thoughts and news about the future of the blog.
So without further ado, here are the major milestones from my first year of blogging.
I wrote my first post on April 16, 2010 – Sauces, Strawberries and Squats. I think it’s a pretty telling demonstration of what PBR is all about – food, fun and fitness!
I ate a lot of overnight oats…and you guys loved them too! The overnight oats recipe is the most popular post on my blog!
A delicious breakfast, especially for the warm summer mornings that are soon to come.
I trained for the Marine Corps Marathon. Marathon training got off to a slow start and I struggled with injury but I finally found my running groove.
I finished the Marine Corps Marathon in 4:19:08! Running the Marine Corps Marathon was an AMAZING experience and really helped me rediscover my love for running.
I am dreaming of running this race again one day!
I taught a LOT of BodyPump classes! I love BodyPump and have so much fun teaching it! I also started teaching general strength training classes at another Y. Read all about how I got my start teaching group exercise here.
I set a half-marathon PR. I finished the Thunder Road Half Marathon in 1:52:12.
I was able to leverage my Marine Corps Marathon training to set a new PR! Half marathons are awesome – half the distance, twice the fun! 🙂
I decided to take a break from running and focus on yoga. I enrolled in yoga teacher training at Y2 Yoga.
I know that I’ve talked about it so much lately but I am so happy that I decided to go through with teacher training. It was a transformational experience and truly one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
I finished teacher training and started teaching yoga! I wrapped up teacher training just a few weeks ago and began teaching classes at my studio!
And so far, so good! I am completely in love with teaching group exercise/yoga and am so grateful for all of the opportunities I’ve had over the past year. I’m so pleased with the direction that things have been going lately and feel inspired and insanely happy!
I took my passion for teaching to the blog with my first video post. Foam Rolling 101 was a big success and I’m looking forward to many more video tutorials if you guys are game! I take requests. I know that “Toned Arms 101” is one you want to see…what else?
And speaking of videos, I filmed a short thank you/news video for you today! A million thank you’s for being the BEST blog readers ever!
Here’s to an awesome first year for PBR and many more to come!

Long time reader, fist time poster. I have read your blog for about 6 months now. I also did the MCM in Oct. Because of your blog, I’ve enjoyed overnight oats, training tips and the idea that it’s ok to try something new. I’ve defined myself as a runner, but I’m trying to get back to yoga now and you have been an inspriation. I’ve also taken a few other classes at my gym trying to be more ballanced and not just focusing on one thing. Thanks for the inspiration!! Keep up the good work.
Congratulations on your first year! It takes alot of effort for you to post everyday, but I enjoy and learn from each one. Best wishes on more posts to come and many blessings to you, Brandon and Sully.
Wow – You’ve accomplished so much in just 1 short year! Congratulations and keep up the great work!

Hey Jen! I found your blog a few weeks ago, and I’m hooked! This past year I took up running with a local group and I ran 2 half marathons and 1 full marathon. I’ve caught the running bug and I love it! I look forward to your posts and I really enjoy the healthy food ideas/work-out tips. I love that you cook REAL food and you take the time to share your wonderful recipes with us. You also show that you can enjoy more indulgent food from time to time as long as it is in moderation.
P.s. Thank you for bringing overnight oats into my life- HAHA.
Happy blogiversary! 🙂
