I’m back to the grind after a fun and relaxed Memorial Day. I was up and in the office working on the new website at 7 a.m. this morning but being able to take yesterday off and relax was totally worth it. Since I slept through my chance to go to a morning yoga class on Monday, I went for a run instead.
And of course I waited until noon to go and nearly died because it was so hot and humid. I love running in the heat but this was a tough run. I got a little over 5 miles in but it was a struggle. I picked up Sullie for the last mile and then walked a bit. Had she not needed the exercise, I would have called it quits at 4. The bonus was that I wore the new Armour Bra by Under Armour that I was recently sent to test and it was awesome. I’ll have a full review for you soon!
I threw together a salad after my run as I was making a dip to take to the pool party (that featured avocados, surprise!). The salad held me over until I arrived at the party where I spent the rest of the afternoon alternating between beer, chips and dip and prosecco. It was perfection.
There was a moment around 5 p.m. that I contemplated heading home to shower and take my sweet yoga student, friend and recent teacher training graduate, Maddie’s new 7:15 hot vinyasa class at Y2 (it was her FIRST class!)…
But then I was delivered a glass of prosecco and any chance of yoga happening went down the drain. I was just too relaxed and comfortable.
The party was awesome. There was a floating dog.
And a cute 7-week old baby that I spent at least 45 minutes snuggling with.
I left around 7:30 and picked up take-out on my way home. Tofu and vegetables with steamed brown rice. The rest of the evening was spent on the couch with mindless entertainment, The Bachelorette. It is so terrible this season. I am kind of disappointed. I wanted Charlotte to have a better showing.
One last thing for my Charlotte-area readers. Dave Romanelli will be visiting Y2 Yoga this weekend to host wine, chocolate and yoga workshops.
If your life is going way too fast and a weekend of simple pleasures would do you right…check out David Romanelli’s upcoming events at Y2 Yoga taking place June 1 and 2. David fuses flowing vinyasa yoga with exotic Vosges Chocolate, fine wine, and rockin tunes to remind you: “Life is just a series of moments. If you miss the moments, you miss your life.”
He’ll be leading three different workshops – you can attend one or all three! Get more info and sign up here. And check out this video Dave made for us.
Have a great (short!) week!
Just wanted to say you have such amazing arm definition! I’ve been watching my diet, doing crossfit, and running for months now and don’t have anything near that amount of definition 🙂 Definitely a goal for me!
thank you! this sounds crazy but i genetically have a lot of arm tone. even before i started seriously lifting people would always comment on them…although i have to say that the amount of lifting i do has totally improved them. you’re so smart to consider your overall diet and fitness in addition to just focusing on arm definition!
Pool and Prosecco sounds like heaven. It’s winter here and I am drooling over everyone’s beautiful sunny memorial day recaps.
that sounds like a perfect day to me!! I am so glad you were able to just relax and enjoy what looks like an incredible afternoon.
P.S. your abs are amazing!!!
thank you! 🙂
I thought that pool was in your backyard for a second! (Skimming too quickly, ha.) This looks like a wonderful day!
i wish!!!!
A floating dog haha. But seriously, what a wonderful weekend. You deserve some time to relax. Jealous of the sun and warm…here in Eugene it’s been cold and grey. Are you still a Lulu ambassador? Curious what your thoughts are on their bras. You look great, by the way!
i am still a lulu ambassador…although i think may is the end of my year-term with them. i LOVE lulu bras. they have tons of options and support levels. i always go with the power y bra because i don’t have much to support but i’ve heard people rave about the tata tamer if you need more!
Your day sounds PERFECT! And your abs look awesome.
thank you! 😀
I went running this afternoon as well and I was drenched in sweat by the end!
Where did you get that take out from? looks really good!
dragonfly on park. they’re fast, tasty, cheap and love that they have brown rice.
What a perfect day! That pool looks so relaxing. So jealous of Dave Romanelli coming to teach at Y2! He’s incredible!!!
i’m sad, i’m actually going to miss him. i’ll be out of town this weekend. wine, chocolate and yoga are pretty much three of my favorite things!
being able to run with no shirt on – jealous!!
Dang I wish I had your arms. They are so strong! Sounds like a perfect day of lounging around at the pool, how fun! It’s been beautiful the past couple days where I live, so I’m hoping that will keep up!
aw, thank you. it was such a nice day. i really needed it!
Is that you holding the baby? If so, I have to know where you got that dress at! It’s gorgeous!
yes, it’s me. it’s actually a cover up and it’s from h & m last season. think i paid like $12 for it!
Great pics! Do you get women at your gym with requests to work on underarm fat (those obnoxious fat rolls that many women have jutting out from their bra)? Ugh, I think it may be just a process of reducing my fat percentage overall. I need to get in better shape like you. You look great! 🙂
haha – yes it is mainly reducing overall body fat. you can’t really spot target but i would recommend doing things like chest flys, dead rows, reverse flys, lat pulls, pull ups, etc to strengthen and tone that area.
Thank you! I will work on that! 🙂
Good for you, giving yourself some down time. You work REALLY hard, you deserved a break 🙂
I went running in the New York heat and humidity yesterday and it was hard too. So difficult to breathe!
I’m glad you gave yourself some down time. It sounds like you’re always so busy. Your hard work on your body pays off though…you are GORGEOUS and an inspiration to me.
i’m about to attempt another run today. it seems a little less humid so hopefully it goes better.
thank you so much for your kind words. i love all the workouts i do but can’t emphasize strength training enough for body transformation! 🙂
Sounds like you had a fabulous Memorial Day! Went for a run also…very sweaty by the end 🙂 I agree with you about the Bachelorette….definitely don’t think they showcased the best Charlotte has to offer!! Good luck with opening of the new gym!! I think I saw the location when driving home from work the other day 🙂
Hey Jen,
I have to agree, you do look great! I have to admit, as an avid crossfitter (my mac says that isn’t a word, we know better, ha!) I love the scored rounds. Anything to be more competitive and challenge myself more during the workout!
I have a question about pre-workout supplements. I know you aren’t paleo, so I was just curious if and what you take before.
Aly
Holy Abs 🙂
