It was a busy Tuesday! I kicked off the day by teaching a 7 a.m. yoga class followed by a yoga private and a training client. I had a little bit of downtime before my lunch class so I took a break from the gym and headed over to Sunflour Bakery to get some computer work done. I feel like I am never, ever caught up on emails and blog chores.
I love French press coffee so I ordered one immediately upon arrival. Sunflour has such a nice, bright ambiance and it was a needed change of scenery from Starbucks. In addition to great coffee, they feature delicious baked goods and offer sandwiches. They also serve beer and wine but it was 10:30 a.m. Just an FYI for my local readers.
I was able to hold off on lunch until about 11:30 and then hunger became unbearable. I have been so hungry this week! Grilled cheese on sourdough sounded perfect. It’s one of my favorite comfort foods. And of course I had a snickerdoodle cookie. If I’m at a bakery and there are cookies, I will never have the power to say no.
I was hungry again once I arrived home from teaching my lunch class. Teaching from 12:30-1:30 really puts a kink in my lunch eating. If I eat before, I’m starving by mid-afternoon. If I eat after, I’m starving during class. I am going to have to figure out an eating schedule that works ASAP because I just picked up two more lunch classes at Charlotte Athletic Club to cover for someone who is out on maternity leave. I will now be teaching the lunch class at CAC every day but Wednesday and on that day I agreed to cover for another instructor at the Y for the next month at 1. Yikes!
Snack was apple slices with peanut butter and a drizzle of honey. When faced with insatiable hunger, eat nut butter.
After a final afternoon appointment, I had plans to meet my friend Val for dinner at Firebirds. I was hoping to get a workout done before but ended up making it a rest day because I was exhausted.
Val had some big news to share! She was featured in O Magazine this month in their “Six Word Memoirs” feature. I was so excited that she had a copy of the magazine with her so I could check it out. What a cool opportunity! Val is an amazing person with a great story. You should definitely check out her blog. She just moved from Charlotte to Charlottesville to open a Pure Barre!
We started out with bread and butter…which was pretty much a necessity once I decided to order a salad for my entree.
For dinner I had a salad with mixed greens, romaine, candied pecans, dried cranberries, green apple and grilled salmon. I have been terrible about gutting my vegetables in lately so this was a nice treat!
Hope it’s been a good week for you. Sorry I didn’t get this post up sooner but the Internet was down this morning. 🙁
Your food always looks so delicious. I’ll never have the power to turn down a cookie either!! And now I want one….
How are things going for you? You sound a little different to me in your posts lately. Hope it’s just that you’re busy 🙂
Looks like a really delicious day to me, and yeah, a huge glob of nut butter is the only thing that takes my hunger away on the munchiest of days.
Hey Jen! I’ve sort of been thinking the same as Brittany – hope you aren’t getting too overwhelmed (obviously you are a VERY popular yoga instructor 🙂 ) And that grilled cheese – yes please!!!! I think I can smell the fresh bread through this computer screen!
Yum! I Not a fan of chain restaurants, but I do love Firebirds.
And I’ve noticed the same thing as Brittany… You haven’t seemed yourself lately. I hope everything is okay!
Ditto the above posters who have wondered if all is well. The counselor in me has been thinking the same thing. Hugs to you, whatever may or may not be going on.
I love Firebirds! That bread is unreal. Making me hungry just thinking about it!
I hope everything is well!
I’ve noticed the same thing! I love your blog, but I have noticed that something is different lately. I hope you are doing well!
“When faced with insatiable hunger, eat nut butter.” – sounds like a bumper sticker waiting to happen 🙂
I have been reading your blog for awhile now and I too have noticed something is off. I noticed you never post about Brandon anymore. Hope everything is okay!
I just wanted to let you know that your experience with yoga teacher training was one of the pushes I needed to finally enroll! I start in March and I cannot wait. I really do hope all is well with you…your blog does seem a little different. Wish you all the best!!!!!!
Can’t live without coffee !!
I love the little timer they give you with the coffee- so helpful!
