Hi friends. How was your weekend? Mine was really nice. Catch up on part one – a yoga teacher training reunion, a 9-mile long run, meeting up with a PBR reader and more. Part two of my weekend was equally as fantastic and involved an Italian dinner, going to see Bridesmaids, teaching yoga, getting an iPhone (!!!!) and a family birthday celebration. Unfortunately, I’m not up for blogging about it tonight.
I have a lot on my mind right now. Remember how I mentioned a few weeks ago in my “Let’s Get Real” post that a family member was having heart surgery? Well, the day is here. My grandmother is having open heart surgery on Monday. Needless to say she is on my mind tonight.
I am the oldest of four grandchildren and my grandmother and I have been extremely close since day one. She has always been active and in great health so this surgery has come as a bit of a surprise. She is having a valve replacement and will be in the hospital for the next week.
I would appreciate your prayers, positive thoughts and support as she goes through this. I will let you know how everything goes.
While we’re on the topic of family, happy Father’s Day to my dad.
I have my dad to thank for my love of cooking and Brandon’s love for grilling on his Big Green Egg! I can’t even tell you how many questions he’s answered about cooking and grilling and how much advice he’s given. We are so lucky to have him as a resource! He is a totally self taught cook who can pull off anything from a 14-layer cake to prime rib on the grill. Ah-mazing!
I’ll see you guys tomorrow with more news. Love to you all.
The power of prayer is so powerful! I wish your grandmother peace, comfort, and vibrant, vibrant health.
Much love,
Pamela
Prayers for you, your grandmother and family during this difficult time <3
Love,
Danielle
prayers go to you and your loved ones.
My dad had valve replacement surgery when I was in high school, that was… let’s just say quite a few years ago and since then we ran a marathon together. Doctors can do amazing things.
megan – that is incredible. thank you so much for sharing it.
Best wishes to your amazing grandmother: I hope all goes well.

Prayers said for you, your grandmother, and your family.
My grandpa had open heart surgery at 73. He was extremely active as well and came through with flying colors. I hope the same for your grandmother.
erin – thank you. it really helps to hear that other have been through this too.
I know exactly how you feel…my dad had an (emergency) double-bypass last October. I was on vacation in Australia at the time and my dad didn’t want anyone to mention it to me. I figured out something was going on (my mom is a terrible liar and was acting so strange on the phone). My family finally told me about my dad’s surgery with 3 days left of my vacation. Naturally, I hated being that far away and was totally shocked and upset. I must have called my dad at least twice a day from Australia. But it all worked out for the best; my dad is back to his old self and feels fantastic.
I’m sending good thoughts and prayers your way today. Hang in there.
kristy – wow, i can’t even imagine that. i’m so happy that everything turned out well and that your dad is going well. thank you for sharing your experience. it really helps.
I will be thinking of you and your family! My grandmother had a triple bypass not too terribly long ago and everything turned out well with her (and she is not as active as your grandmother it seems!) so stay positive! I will be sending positive thoughts your way!
