Happy Saturday!
I hope your weekend is off to a nice and relaxing start. I woke up naturally around 7:15, made French press and a smoothie and cuddled with the girls.
They went to the groomer yesterday where they got baths, their ears cleaned, nails trimmed and a little hair cut. They look thrilled about their matching pink bandanas, right? Sullie is like, “Mom…please. I’m too old for this.”
This was Zoey’s first time being groomed. It takes young goldens a while for their full coat to come in and she’s just starting to get hers. She’s been fine with us giving her baths up until recently. She had some mats under her ears that we didn’t want to tackle ourselves and it had been quite a while since Sullie had been trimmed up so we decided to take them in together. At the recommendation of some friends we tried Dilworth Dog Grooming for the first time and they were wonderful! I arrived to find this chalkboard on the front porch welcoming the pups that were coming in.
Tanner picked them up a few hours later and they were super happy. The owner, Chris, is wonderful. She runs the business out of an old house and the dogs are free to roam around and play and they can go outside. She says she likes to, “groom a little, let them play a little” so that they have a good experience with it. I love those little marshmallow paws they get when their feet get trimmed!
Dilworth Dog Grooming will now be our go-to for grooming. The prices were super reasonable. We’ll continue to do the regular bath and brushing maintenance but 3-4 times a year we’ll have the “full-service” grooming done. Love these sweet girls.
A few eats to share and then I’m going to walk the girls and then go teach yoga.
Breakfast
I mixed up the breakfast routine this week and did muffins with almond butter, fruit and scrambled eggs. I had variations of this three different mornings.
And on Fridays we eat chia pudding! My new Friday routine is to train a client at 6:30, workout and then train another client at 8:15 a.m. It’s been such an energizing start to my Fridays. I eat my chia pudding right after my workout before training my next client.
Lunch
Leftovers lunch. I rarely eat dinner leftovers for lunch but squash casserole is my favorite. Shredded chicken thigh on the side with some sliced heirloom tomatoes.
Summer salad at Namastay Kitchen with arugula, strawberries, apples, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, shredded purple cabbage and avocado. Chicken on the side.
Tomato and avocado sandwich with mayo and fresh basil.
Salad with spinach, beets, radishes, dried cranberries, avocado and leftover mahi mahi.
Dinner
My dinner plan for the week got a little off due to leftovers that I didn’t want to let go to waste. On Monday night we had leftover Mediterranean food from Saturday night. I made pita chips to dip in the hummus and baba ganoush.
On Tuesday night we had veggie green curry.
Wednesday night was bunless grass-fed beef burgers with sriracha aioli, bacon and avocado. Roasted sweet potatoes and radishes on the side along with heirloom tomatoes.
Thursday night was roast chicken. I cooked it over a mix of Vidalia onions, carrots and potatoes with fresh herbs. The veggies cooked with the chicken fat are to die for.
And on Friday night I had leftover roast chicken alongside sauteed zucchini, mushrooms and onions with a baked sweet potato. Tanner had the leftover burgers with veggies. We were supposed to do the sea scallops and risotto but I forgot we had teacher training and the fridge was full of leftovers. I hadn’t yet bought the scallops because I try to buy seafood the day of so it was an easy swap!
Enjoy the day! xx
Do you take your dogs for hair cuts/to get groomed? Do they like it?
What did you eat for Friday night dinner?
Love Sullie & Zoey and recent eat posts! They are my favorite. The girls look so pretty and love that the groomer let them play! More dog/puppy tips please!
Love all the dinner ideas, including all the veggie options! Do you have a particular recipe for your favorite squash casserole?
The girls are gorgeous!
All your meals look so good. Friday night we were supposed to have fish pie with steamed veg, but ended up with bolognese pasta bake. Oops!
I was also wondering if you had a recipe link for the squash casserole.
My Golden(11yo) got groomed yesterday too! She and Sullie appear to be a lot alike! Except we havent gotten her a little sister. …yet! We also get her groomed a few times a year, we finally found a groomer that we ALL like. I still hate the few hours she is there-the house feels SO empty.
Sweet babies! They look so gorgeous and happy! I have 2 goldens too–Griffin is 7 mo. and Athena is 6. Love all your meal ideas too! 🙂
