The weather is a little crazy here in Charlotte today. I awoke to sunshine, a cool breeze and blue skies and immediately set off on a beautiful three mile run with Sullie.
By the time I’d showered and gotten ready for work, it looked like this outside. Gray skies and lots of rain. Judging from Twitter and Facebook, it sounds like quite a few of you are experiencing similar weather where you are so I thought today would be a great day to share a workout you can do at home. While ย you might stay dry from not having to be out in the rain, I can’t promise that you won’t be drenched in sweat at the end of this one. ๐
If once isn’t enough, repeat 2 or 3 times! And because I’m a complete crazy about making sure that my students/clients are performing movements and exercises correctly, here is a quick iPhone video with a demo of the exercises.
Enjoy and let me know what you think about the workout! Performing body weight exercises is one of the easiest ways to workout with minimal equipment and minimal stress on the body.
Here’s a random sampling of some recent meals.
I met some old co-workers at Crisp for lunch yesterday. Crisp specializes in built-to-order salads. I went with a mix of spinach and spring mix, walnuts, blue cheese, craisins, pears and tomatoes with grilled chicken and honey mustard. All the toppings kind of sunk to the bottom but they were abundant and the mix was delicious!
Post-run breakfast this morning was overnight oats. Running always makes me crave a cold breakfast. This wasn’t much to look at but it tasted great. I mixed oats, almond milk, goat yogurt, chia seeds, cinnamon, dried cranberries, bananas and apples. I mixed it all together in an empty TJs peanut butter jar and then topped it with a little bit of pumpkin butter.
Go workout and have a good day! ๐
Love your accent!
Thanks for posting this at-home workout inspiration – I’m always looking for gym-free workouts! ๐
Thanks for the at home workout! It’s rainy here too. I love doing bodyweight exercises, a la Zuzana’s ZWOW workouts or the older Bodyrock workouts. I’ll have to give this one a try, too!
Just what I needed, thanks a lot!
JEN!! those burpees nearly did me in, yikes! great workout though, thanks for the video post, so extremely helpful! was a nice warmup for zumba. ๐
Just when I thought I had talked myself out of skipping the gym, you’re there! I’ll have to try this workout at home tonight. Why are planks so hard?! It looks easy as pie when you watch someone else but when it’s you, it can be tough!
I freakout as well whenever I see people doing moves incorrectly as well. Esp with squats and lunges!
I’ve been looking for some great quick at home workouts- thanks for posting! Thanks so much for putting up a video- I’m a newby with the strength stuff so I need the visual for sure!
I’ve been seeing this goat yogurt a lot lately around the blog world. Is it similair to Greek yogurt? I’m a Greak yogurt FREAK. Just wondering if it would be a good alternative ๐
Thanks for the workout! I did it this afternoon and it felt great! I only did once through because I did ZWOW #3 and 1/2 mile run X 3 (beginning/middle/end of workout). It was really fun, but the tricep dips got me!
Thanks for posting this video. I am looking for workouts I can do at home without machines because we actually cancelled our gym membership! Running is great but I have to do something on my off days. ๐
Thanks for posting the video! For some reason seeing the moves performed makes me more motivated and willing to actually do them. Plus I’ve never really known what a burpee was ha!
Im going to try the workout at the weekend ๐ thanks for including the video!
Hi! I recently found your blog and really enjoy it….but I never comment. Just wanted to say thanks for posting this workout. I love these circuit types of workouts but sometimes I spend so much time planning my work out for the day that by the time I’ve come up with something new I’ve already lost my workout mojo. So thank you ๐ I will write this down for sure!
I loved this post! I’ve been looking for something like this. Post more!
Thank you so much for posting these workouts! I really need to make time during my day to get these kind of workouts in. I’ve been so busy lately!
And I’ve been strongly considering getting into Crossfit too when David and I move. Looks like the results are undeniable! ๐
Thank you so much Jen for posting this workout. You should do more :). I did 2 rounds…the almost killed me. Will share this workout wit others…awesome! xxx
yay! i LOVE when someone thinks up the circuit for you and you just do it! no excuse that way. and i LOOOOVE when you do videos!
That workout looks great! Quick and efficient ๐ I will definitely try this out.
Thanks for the workout! I always workout at home, so this is a good one.
just found your blog and LOVE IT ๐ You are in my reader now ๐
awesome! thanks for checking it out and taking time to comment!
Jen,
I’m a long time reader, but I’ve never posted before. I LOVE your blog and the inspiration you give me to lead a healthier lifestyle. Thank you.
I am posting today because I have a question for you. When you are doing the planks, do you have something, like a timer (toning timer?) that beeps every 30 seconds, or at different intervals? I like to workout to music, and don’t want to watch the clock because it impacts my form and makes the workout seem longer. Any tips you have on how to mark the time would be much appreciated.
hi jane – thanks so much for reading and taking the time to comment. i either watch a countdown clock in the gym or just kind of guesstimate in my head how long i’ve been holding it. i don’t use any kind of special device but i’m sure there are apps and all kinds of stuff that would time that.
I love the body weight exercises and the video with the correct form. It was rainy in Baltimore yesterday and I did the workout, could definitely feel it. Thanks!
awesome! thanks for the feedback.
Thanks for the workout it was perfect for when I couldn’t get to the gym today! ๐
Wow! I did it 2x this morning and I was sweating like a pig (and wobbling like a drunk duck by the time I had done my 50th burpee). Thanks for posting it, and the video which really helped me think about my form.
so awesome! thanks for checking in. great job!
i know you made this forever ago but i just found it via google search! i loved the workout and especially loved that you made a video for it so i didnt have to look up the exercises i didnt understand. thanks so much!(:
