Happy Friday!
Just a few updates for you before I go brave Ikea. If you don’t hear from me tomorrow send out the search teams. ๐
The first noteworthy item to share is that I am wearing regular people clothes to work today!!! This might be the second time ever. I took a 6:30 a.m. yoga class and then taught at 8:30 a.m. and it was my only class/client of the day. Since I was done teaching and with my own workout, I decided to get dressed in casual clothes instead of gym clothes. I had an appointment at 11 and a lunch with a friend at 12:30 so it was a great day for it.
Speaking of that lunch date…I met with one of my yoga friends who recently completed teacher training and is working with me to shadow/assist/teach to talk about yoga, life and career in general. I had a salad with all kinds of fun toppings and a cup of really yummy soup that hit the spot on a very brisk day. It was a chicken, rice, apple mix and so good.
In other food news, I made a killer dinner last night. I had chicken breasts and eggplant left in the fridge from my weekly shopping trip so I made a little tower of sauteed chicken breast, roasted eggplant, mozzarella and marinara sauce. I sauteed some spinach on the side. This dish was so easy to prepare and tasted amazing! I love playing the “what is the best thing I can do with these ingredients?” game.
And lunch yesterday was leftover quinoa mix on top of spinach with plain greek yogurt and hummus.
I’m going to send you into the weekend with three songs I’m loving right now!I also included iTunes affiliate links so you can click straight through to iTunes to buy the song if you so choose.
Avicii’s new single, Hey Brother.
Hang with it for the first minute, it starts out pretty country-ish but picks up big time. Super catchy and fun.
Time by Chase & Status.
I can’t stop listening to this song and every remix of it.
And finally, let’s slow it down with Trampled by Turtles.
This is one of those songs that pulls at my heart. I love the folky sound, the singer’s voice and the slow build to a big ending.
Enjoy the weekend!
If the sky comes fallin , down.
It’s always fun to see yogis/fitness trainers in other clothing besides Lulu and what kind of style they ROCK outside the gym/studio! And your hair is down too…you go girl…love the outfit! ๐ Have a beautiful weekend! XOXO
i rock the hair down a lot more once the humidity dies down and i’m not all frizz and waves! ๐
Love love love your outfit! Boots and infinity scarves are two of my favorite things ๐
mine too! I LOVE INFINITY SCARVES!
Hi Jen!
A blog reader from Massachusetts here! I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and find it so great. Yesterday you mentioned how you had battled with hip pain, but are now pain free. I was wondering how you got better…..I’ve been suffering with hip pain for almost 2 years and tried so many things to address the pain but nothing seems to help. I’d jut about given up until I read your post the other day. Would love to hear what helped you!!
Thanks! Jen
first, i’m so sorry to hear that you are also dealing with hip pain. it is no fun. unfortunately, there was no magic solution for me. it was just a lot of patience and trying different things. a couple of things that helped…
– deep tissue massage
– backing off of deep hip openers in yoga (there was about 6 months where i wouldn’t even do half pigeon on my right side)
– reducing run mileage
– reducing the quantity of squats i was doing and focusing on lifting shorter sets heavier to really strengthen
– IT band work (i have a chronic knot near my knee on my right IT band)
Such a cute outfit! I love that I can start wearing scarves and boots again this fall!
thank you!
Love the new songs. I don’t know how new it is, but ther is a song by Steve Moakler called ” beginning of the end ” that I think is right on with the songs that you posted. Lastly, the new dishes look very scrumptious, I’ll have to try my hand at least one of them.
thanks, i’ll check it out!
Oh, one more….its Ron pope, ” A drop in the ocean ” very strong instrumentals that will make anyone take a moment to ponder.
have heard this one!
