Good morning.
First, this.
The light of my life.
Second, this.
That would be my gutters, removed from the house, sitting in my front yard. What began as a small repair project has morphed into a whole new ball game. And what began with just replacing my kitchen counter tops has morphed into exterior work, custom cabinet building, indoor paining and more. Oh home improvement…you are so expensive but so worth it.
Third, food.
Breakfast
So many green smoothies.
And green juice while I was stocking up on smoothie supplies at Earth Fare. I did a kale, apple, lemon, ginger and cucumber mix. Literally the only thing I am craving in the 90+ degree temps is green drinks (and gelato…and sushi…keep reading).
Lunch
Salad from Crisp uptown. Spinach, mixed greens, walnuts, hardboiled eggs, dried cranberries, feta and pears. I was SUPER excited to leave my desk on Friday to walk a couple of blocks to meet a friend for lunch. While I did work in the “real world” for six years in my past life, I never worked downtown (uptown…whatever Charlotte wants to call it) and the energy is fun and different for me.
Dinner
Thai Chicken Pizza from Pizza Peel. Love this place and haven’t had their pizza in years. It used to be on regular rotation for me.
Dinner out at Levant for my friend Katie’s birthday. I had the kafta kababs with falafel and a salad. It was DELISH! I love Mediterranean food!
Sushi from Sushi 101. Not my favorite sushi in Charlotte (by a long run) but gets the job done for a Monday night budget.
So…all of these dinners have been out to eat which isn’t the norm for me. Sadly, I have not been cooking at home lately due to adjusting to my new schedule. I know I’ll get back in a groove soon but I’m giving myself a break for now.
Etc.
A new gelato place opened in my neighborhood, Va Da Vie Gelato, so I treated myself while I was waiting for paint samples to be ready last weekend. I liked the clean and modern exterior.
And my fresh peach gelato was pretty fabulous as well. I will definitely be a regular customer here! 🙂
Do you eat out more often when you’re busy with work?
That’s all I’ve got for you! Have an amazing day!
First your peach sorbet looks absolutely delicious. When I get busy at work I do eat out more, but sometimes all I want to do is come home and put my feet up. On those days I find whatever is in the fridge and make the best of it.
Oh that pizza and your love for green smoothies just cracks me up! 😉 Is there anything better than taking the dogs for a walk? I find it so therapeutic…
Some weeks call for more eating out than others..It’s always so weird for me to not cook several nights in a row although it is a welcomed vacation on occasion!
Yum that peach flavor sounds amazing. I definitely dine out more often when I’m working longer hours or on a new schedule – giving yourself a break is a good plan!
Your green smoothies look ab fab! And those kafta kababs and falafel are making me hungry!
Hoping all your home renovations go smoothly without any bumps along the way!!
Ooooh yum! That gelato looks so good!
I definitely tend to eat out when things are really busy. We’re in the middle of moving (we move next week!) and I’m pretty sure about half of my meals over the next 10 days will be take out. Sometimes you’ve just got to cut yourself a break and let it happen. 🙂
Sullie is SO cute!
I would like everything you’ve eaten recently to come through my computer screen and be on my desk now. K, thanks.
I’m super guilty of eating out more often when I feel like I don’t have enough time. The bad thing is there aren’t any “healthy” restaurants in my area, so I feel horrible when I’m doing it! Loving the pics.
I definitely eat out more when I am working more and life in all areas just feel busier. I try to stay within budget though and that seems to make me feel better about it : )
I think I’m an opposite here- I love preparing my meals to bring to work- Oatmeal is ready for me after an Ashtanga morning (+ peanut butter) and recent lunch eats= Farro Salad! MmMMm ..mixed with veggies and craisins!!! Yes~
I want to eat ALL of that!! 🙂
What IS your favorite sushi in Charlotte? …so I know where to go the next time I’m in town. 🙂
i almost never eat out do to dietary restrictions but when work is busier i try to do more crock pot meals and easy stuff that i can make into leftovers. luckily when i re did my kitchen several years ago i was without some of the restrictions cuz i basically had no kitchen for almost 2 months. im not sure how i would survive that in my situation now. I’m also in the midst of some other home rennovations and it is sooooo stressful. good luck on that !!!! i cant wait to see how it all turns out.
what an adorable gelato place!
All the food looks absolutely delicious! And good luck with the house renovations – always an adventure! 🙂
The meals look yummy and adorable gelato shop.
I definitely eat out more when I’m busy with work. It’s nice to eat good food, but not good for my budget at times…
Oh yes busy work week = more restaurant and takeaway treats! for a few reasons other than being too busy to shop and cook – it usually means more money is coming in, and it also means something special to look forward to after a hard day!
Sullie is so cute and that gelato looks amazing! I’m going to have to try it next time I am in Charlotte! Gelato Reminds me of Italy.
While the busier I am the more I stress about getting home and making dinner I still get it done. I’m definitely no saint but with my hubby and teenage son, dining out would be way too costly if it were to happen frequently! Instead, I meal plan and occasionally throw the plan out the window in favor of Sammy Night (sandwiches), BFD (breakfast for dinner – eggs/toast so easy with bacon in the microwave), or, the easiest grilled cheese!! That being said, I do enjoy a lunch date with my workmate ladies occasionally and I think everyone should relax and enjoy the food and service when dining out and get that smile on (face & tummy!!) .
